KERRY NEXT WE DEAL WITH THE CORE ISSUES-THE DIVISION OF JERUSALEM

EZEKIEL 39:12-22
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.

REVELATION 19:17-18
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

Late fall and early spring (BIRD MIGRATION SEASONS IN ISRAEL) bring thousands upon thousands of birds, while winter is the season for ducks. Spring brings flowers. And in summer, when the entire country is brown and dry, the Reserve’s green foliage is at the height of its beauty.

Israel is located at the junction of three continents, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Arabian Desert. As a result, Israel is a bottleneck, into which all or a large part of the world populations of certain soaring bird species concentrate on their way to their winter quarters in Africa, during both spring and autumn. In addition, many smaller birds migrate through Israel. It has been estimated that the total number of birds passing through Israel during the autumn migration is about 600 million, which is about 10% of the number of birds migrating from the Palearctic region to Africa. The combination of its unique location and small size, facilitates studying a number of basic migratory phenomena. The only other similar site in the world is in Panama.

DANIEL 11:21-23
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

DANIEL 9:26-27
26 And after threescore and two weeks(62X7=434 YEARS+7X7=49 YEARS=TOTAL OF 69 WEEKS OR 483 YRS) shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;(ROMAN LEADERS DESTROYED THE 2ND TEMPLE) and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.(THERE HAS TO BE 70 WEEKS OR 490 YRS TO FUFILL THE VISION AND PROPHECY OF DAN 9:24).(THE NEXT VERSE IS THAT 7 YR WEEK OR (70TH FINAL WEEK).

ISAIAH 28:14-19 (THIS IS THE 7 YR TREATY COVENANT OF DANIEL 9:27)
14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

Liberman says skeptical peace talks will bear fruit

Speaking at Saban Forum in Washington, foreign minister says dialogue, coexistence with Palestinians critical

December 7, 2013, 5:30 am 3-The Times of Israel
There’s zero trust between Israel and the Palestinians, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said Friday night, voicing scant hope for a prospective peace agreement by the end of the nine month period allotted for the American-brokered peace talks.Speaking at the Brookings Institute’s Saban Forum on ”US-Israel Relations in a Dynamic Middle East,” Liberman said negotiations with the Palestinians must start “not from security and not from refugees, but from some simple thing I call trust, confidence, credibility.”“Without trust and credibility — mission impossible,” he said. The foreign minister said past treaties were made between Israeli and Palestinian rulers, not the respective peoples. “I think we must reach a real comprehensive solution with the Palestinians and not with the rulers,” he said. While he expressed gratitude for US Secretary of State John Kerry’s efforts to bring the two sides together, “to keep this process alive,” and reach a negotiated resolution to the decades-long conflict, Liberman expressed doubt that there’d be an agreement in the coming year.
“To speak frankly,” said Liberman, “I don’t believe it is possible in the next year to achieve [a] comprehensive solution, to achieve some breakthrough, but I think it’s crucial to keep our dialogue, because we live in the same region, we’re neighbors. It’s important at least to think about coexistence.”Liberman, head of the right-wing Yisrael Beytenu party, said he continued to support a two-state solution, and voiced his backing of a land and population swap with the Palestinians — a plan which would involve the forced transfer of Israeli Arabs to Palestinian Authority control.“We’re ready to share this small land,” he said, saying he was even willing to leave his West Bank settlement should there be hope of a guaranteed negotiated resolution to the conflict. He rejected outright the term “occupation” in the context of Israel’s presence in the West Bank, however, and said the conflict with the Palestinians was not a matter of territory. ”To speak of occupation is not to understand the history of this region and the facts.”He said the Israeli government must break out of its deadlock with the Palestinians, take a step back and reevaluate its policies.“All of our direction on the Palestinian issue is the wrong direction, we must take some time out for a policy review,” he said.Should talks break down, however, Liberman opposed unilateral Israeli action to withdraw from the West Bank, as it did from the Gaza Strip in 2005. “I don’t believe in unilateral steps,” he said twice in his talk with Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, noting thousands of rockets fired at Israel in the eight years since it left the Palestinian territory.Turning to the Iranian issue, Liberman reiterated his opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s public airing of dirty laundry with the United States over the deal reached with Iran last month. “It’s unnecessary to discuss public disagreements publicly,” he said. “I think to cool down the atmosphere is also very crucial today.”While he acknowledged that Israel sought to diversify its allegiances in the international arena, he said there was no replacement for its close alliance with Washington.“We don’t have any alternative to the United States,” Liberman said, but added that “we can’t disregard Russia” from the Middle East equation. Concerning rumors of a secret Israeli-Saudi alliance against Iran, Liberman didn’t confirm or deny suspicions, but said Israel was open to dialogue with all countries, and said that Saudi Arabia was “not so worried about Israel.”“The biggest threat for them is not Zionism, not Jews, not Israel, but the radical movements in the Arab world like Sunni radical movements like al-Qaeda and of course the Iranian ambitions,” he said. Ignatius commented that he “almost heard an endorsement of an Israeli-Saudi understanding about security.”Liberman also warned against a developing Middle Eastern nuclear arms race involving the Saudis, Iran, Egypt and Turkey, and said Iran’s government headed by President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif didn’t hold the real power, but the supreme leader and Revolutionary Guard did. He said Iran posed a greater threat to the Gulf countries than it did to Israel.“The biggest threat from Iranians is not even to Israel, it is first of all to the [Saudi] allies, to the Gulf countries,” he said.Liberman compared the nuclear deal reached by the US and world powers with Iran and the chemical weapons agreement reached by the US and Russia with Syria. In the Syrian case, the deal was to destroy the chemical weapons and the means of producing them, he said, but in the Iranian case “the centrifuges that were spinning before the agreement continue to spin today” and Iran keeps all enriched uranium.

“It’s really a crucial and big difference between the two deals,” he said, noting that Iran’s end of the bargain was “unacceptable to me and the Israelis” and that Israel “know[s] what the Iranian intentions” are and sees their involvement in terrorist activity in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama are both set to speak at the high-level conference in Washington, DC, this weekend focused on Israel’s relationship with the United States.Netanyahu and the numerous other Israeli politicians set to partake in the event — including Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Energy and Water Resources Minister Silvan Shalom, and Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz — will speak via webcast. The prime minister will be interviewed by PBS News host Charlie Rose on Sunday. Obama will speak with Haim Saban, an Israeli-American mogul who funds the forum, on Saturday morning and Kerry will deliver the keynote address later that day.The annual forum, now in its 10th year, is organized by The Saban Center for Middle East Policy and aims to foster dialogue between American and Israeli political figures on the most pressing issues in the Middle East.In a press release, Tamara Cofman Wittes, director of the Saban Center, highlighted the forum’s increased pertinence this year in light of peace and security issues currently facing Jerusalem and Washington. This year’s forum comes as ties between the US and Israel have become increasingly strained following the interim nuclear deal signed in Geneva last month between Iran and six world powers including the US, which Netanyahu staunchly and outspokenly opposed.US officials responded that they were “very frustrated” by the backlash. In addition, Kerry slammed Israel’s West Bank policies in early November, much to the displeasure of the Israeli leadership.Kerry, in Israel on Thursday, appeared to take a more conciliatory stance toward Israel, stressing that Washington’s main concern in talks with Iran remains Israel’s security.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

JERUSALEM DIVIDED

PSALMS 79:1-13 (GOD GIVES 7 TIMES DESTRUCTION TO WORLD NATIONS FOR COMING AGAINST JERUSALEM)
1  A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance;(JERUSALEM) thy holy temple have they defiled;(AD 70) they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
2  The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
3  Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
4  We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
5  How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
6  Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
7  For they have devoured Jacob,(ISRAEL) and laid waste his dwelling place.
8  O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.
9  Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.
10  Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.
11  Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
12  And render unto our neighbours sevenfold (7 TIMES THE DESTRUCTION) into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.(BY DESTROYING JERUSALEM)
13  So we thy people (ISRAELIS) and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever:(KING JESUS) we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.(FOREVER ON EARTH)

ZECHARIAH 12:1-5 King James Bible
1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.

JOEL 3:2 (WW3 OCCURS WHEN JERUSALEM IS DIVIDED)
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people (ISRAEL) and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.(JERUSALEM)(WW3 STARTS BECAUSE JERUSALEM IS DIVIDED AND ISRAELIS UPROOTED FROM THEIR GOD GIVIN LAND BRINGS 3 DEAD BILLION IN WW3)

PSALS 137:5-6
5  If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
6  If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

ISAIAH 31:5
5 As birds flying,(WAR PLANES WITH BOMBS) so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem;(WITH PLANES) defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.(NUKE OR BOMB ISRAELS ENEMIES)

ZECHARIAH 14:12-13
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.(1/2-3 BILLION DIE IN WW3)

ZECHARIAH 14:1-4 King James Bible
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Tension at Temple Mount is escalating week by week

Radical Muslim and Jewish groups at times seem to have forged an unholy alliance to push for holy war

December 6, 2013, 5:00 pm 15-The Times of Israel

Temple Mount is in whose hands?

The flow of non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount on Tuesday afternoon was typical. The site is open to tourists and Israeli visitors from 7:30 to 10 a.m., and then again from 12:30-1:30 p.m. A multitude of languages, including Hebrew of course, rises from the group waiting outside the gate for the security check.
Among the visitors Tuesday was Yoram Loewenstein, director of the Tel Aviv-based Performing Arts Studio, with several of his students and a group of their guests from Lithuania, and Aline Levy, a former participant in the Israeli Big Brother reality show. They had come to learn a bit about the history of the site and more about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.A few meters away from the security guards sat a smiling young man offering drinks and biscuits to the visitors. He introduced himself as a member of an organization called “Bringing Joy to the Pilgrims.” It is only Jewish pilgrims that this group has in mind.

The police officer at the entrance expertly picked out the regular troublemakers. Two young men with unusually large white knitted kippas were taken aside for a more thorough inspection. The visitors were instructed to leave all religious articles, including prayer books and Hanukkah menorahs, at the entrance to the site. After another brief delay, the group finally entered the compound. All visitors are thoroughly inspected at the entrance to the Temple Mount because Israel’s security forces realize that a single incident here can easily cause the entire region to erupt. On Hanukkah and other Jewish holidays, increasing numbers of right-wing activists (as well as Likud Knesset members lately) call upon the public to visit the Temple Mount. Each such attempt causes unrest among Muslim worshipers at the compound and throughout the West Bank. The Temple Mount/Haram a-Sharif has always been a source of conflict and contention between Israel and the Palestinians. Violence has erupted here many times, the most infamous recent incident occurring on September 28-29, 2000. What began with opposition chairman Ariel Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount, deteriorated the following day into the opening confrontations of the Second Intifada, also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada. When afternoon prayers ended on Friday, September 29, Muslim worshipers began to riot and throw stones at the Jewish worshipers at the Western Wall below, wounding Jerusalem Police Chief, Major General Yair Yitzhaki. A special unit of the Israel Border Police was ordered to force its way on to the Temple Mount using live fire if necessary. Seven Palestinians were killed and dozens were wounded, triggering clashes and violence throughout the West Bank and Gaza.Since then, the Jerusalem District Police has learned its lesson, now restricting Muslims under a certain age from entering for Friday prayers on sensitive occasions. Nevertheless, radical Muslim groups use the site to regularly incite against Israel, and skilled provocateurs from the other side use it as a political podium. And there are plenty of both — extreme right-wing Israelis who try to light a Hanukkah menorah in the Al-Aqsa Mosque or establish a synagogue at the site, and Islamic activists, Israeli Arabs and Palestinians who fight to “save Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. They often seem to sustain one another in what appear to be efforts to trigger a holy war.

Every message posted on the internet by one makeshift organization or another, calling upon the Jews to “pray on the Temple Mount,” becomes a means of recruitment for radical Islamic groups to bring dozens of supporters to the site, “to protect Haram a-Sharif.”One of the most active groups on the Temple Mount in recent months is known as Al-Shabab Al-Aqsa. This group of young men is most often recruited by members of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement (lead by Sheikh Raed Salah) in order to “protect Al-Aqsa.” This means physically preventing Jews from attempting to pray on the Temple Mount or to cause damage to the site. These activists are Arabs from Israel and East Jerusalem who are paid for each “shift” that they work.Alongside them is the “Women’s Corps,” with the same assignment. These women are generally poor, divorced or widows and are recruited by the Islamic Movement, which pays their salaries and organizes their transportation to the mount. These provocateurs occasionally shout insults and “Allah Akhbar” at non-Muslim visitors, but usually just stand guard.Activists affiliated with Hamas can often be found on the mount as well. After the June 2013 coup in Egypt, Hamas supporters hung posters of ousted Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi on the Temple Mount, drawing harsh criticism for using the Al-Aqsa Mosque for political purposes — despite the fact that every known Palestinian movement uses Haram a-Sharif for political gain. This includes Islamic Jihad and Kharkat al-Tahrir.The latter has been active in the West Bank for years but does not play any organizational role in terrorist attacks or in Palestinian politics. The number of its supporters has significantly increased in recent years following the split between Hamas and Fatah. Today, there are 2,000 Kharkat al-Tahrir supporters in Jerusalem alone, who so far have avoided all political and military involvement. And recently, the Salafis have appeared as well. These are not terrorists like the three Al-Salafiya Al-Jihadiya activists killed two weeks ago by Israeli Special Forces in Hebron. The Salafis are an ultra-religious group that calls upon the Islamic world to return to its roots. They have lived and operated in Gaza and the West Bank for hundreds of years. The problem is that in recent years, more and more Salafi activists have joined terrorist groups that operate from places such as Sinai and Syria. The Hebron incident was the first armed confrontation between members of the militant denomination and Israeli security forces, but it may not be the last. Just last week, Palestinian security forces reported that they arrested dozens of military activists affiliated with Al-Salafiya Al-Jihadiya.

The storm on the horizon

Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, director of the Waqf in East Jerusalem and at Al-Aqsa, charges that Israeli “radicalism” is “ruining everything.”In an interview this week, he described a recent Sunday when, he said, a group of 26 Orthodox Jews visited the Temple Mount and “even attacked your own soldiers,” and he warned: “If a fire erupts here, it will ignite the entire world.”“We dream of Jerusalem being a source of peace between religions,” he added, “each with its own holy site: Al-Aqsa to the Muslims; the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to the Christians; and Al-Buraq Wall (the Muslim name for the Western Wall, named for the horse that carried the Prophet Muhammad to the heavens), which belongs to the Muslims as well but the Jews may pray there.”He offered these terms straight-faced, either unaware or unperturbed by the radical revisionism. Throughout the conversation, Al-Khatib cautioned that every Jewish attempt to pray at “Haram a-Sharif” will draw a response and objections from the Muslims. “This site represents 1 billion, 700 million Muslims. We do not want a religious war to break out in the region. It will put us all in danger.”The complex and dangerous circumstances that are rapidly developing on the Temple Mount prompted Israel’s two Chief Rabbis, Ashkenazi Rabbi David Lau and Sephardic Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, to this week reaffirm the ruling made by Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Kook (years before the establishment of the State of Israel) which forbids Jews from visiting the Temple Mount. This new-old ruling, however, is unlikely to have much impact at this most sensitive of sites, where years of seething tension appear to be bubbling ever closer to the surface.

Kerry: 'Closer Than We Have Been In Years' to Israel, PA Peace

US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Friday that a peace deal could be imminent as he wrapped up his Israel visit, according to an AFP report. "I believe we are closer than we have been in years to bringing about the peace and the prosperity and the security that all of the people of this region deserve," he told reporters traveling with his delegation at Ben Gurion airport. The news follows reports from Maariv that negotiations were improving Thursday, as Kerry indicated that the US was more willing to follow Israel's stance on its security - specifically the crucial Jordan Valley region - after multiple refusals to cooperate by Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.Abbas reportedly refused every proposal by the US Security council, leading Kerry back to more talks with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to reach a reasonable compromise about the issue. Kerry's visit marks the latest in a series of efforts by the US to broker more peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Earlier this week, US sources revealed that the delegation sent to Jerusalem included General John Allen, who was set to present a security plan for the region based on the US's analysis of Israel's security risks. In response, Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon made clear that Israel would not accept a compromise on Israel's safety. On Thursday, Kerry stated, "The bond between the United States and Israel is unbreakable. And while occasionally we might have a difference of a tactical measure, we do not have a difference about the fundamental strategy that we both seek with respect to the security of Israel and the long-term peace of this region. "We will continue to work for that."I thank my many Israel friends for their embrace and for their patience as we pursue this complicated process," he concluded.

Kerry: Israel-Palestinian peace deal has never been closer

Still, US secretary of state warns that no deal will be signed unless it enhances Israel's security, says US completely in synch with Jerusalem regarding what is needed in final accord with Iran.

US Secretary of State John Kerry praised Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for their courage in pursuing peace.Just prior to his departure from the region after a visit to Israel and Palestinian Authority-ruled areas, Kerry said that peace has never been closer.

"For now, let me just now reiterate how grateful I am for the courage that both Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Abbas both continue to display against naysayers, against opponents, as they pursue a full exploration of the possibilities of peace," Kerry said."I believe we are closer than we have been in years to bringing about the peace and the prosperity and the security that all of the people of this region deserve and yearn for."Kerry, following three meetings over the last 36 hours with Netanyahu, said before leaving Friday afternoon that if Israel's security cannot be increased through an agreement with the Palestinians, it will be difficult to reach an agreement.Kerry, speaking to reporters traveling with him, said that progress was being made in the talks. He said he was able to speak of progress because "we have gone through a very detailed, lengthy, in-depth analysis of the security challenges of the region, particularly the challenges to Israel and the creation of a viable, independent Palestinian state."Kerry said that this process has taken time, and that retired US General John Allen briefed Netanyahu about various security concepts. He said he feels that Allen's analysis – supported by the work of some 160 US officials from the Defense Department, the State Department, and White House and intelligence community – could "help both the Palestinians and Israelis make judgments about some of the choices that are important for arriving at an agreement." And that, he said, "is progress."Kerry said that security was paramount in Netanyahu's mind with respect to Israel's ability to move forward on other issues."If Israel's security cannot be increased through this agreement, it is very difficult to make an agreement," he said. "So we are making certain that we are addressing each and every one of those questions." Kerry, who reiterated that he was the only one designated to talk about the negotiations, said that the fact that no information is coming out about the talks, does not mean that they were not productive.Neither he, Netanyahu, nor Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas would be spending "all this time" if they were not "hammering out important concepts" and engaging in serious conversations, Kerry said.He met twice Thursday, and once Friday, with Netanyahu, and once on Thursday with Abbas.Regarding Iran, Kerry – asked whether he was leaving Israel with any commitment from Netanyahu to tone down criticism of the Iran deal – said that the prime minister "has every right in the world to make his views known with respect to his concerns about the security of his country."Amid some criticism in the US that Netanyahu was too heavily involved in trying to influence Congress regarding ratcheting sanctions up on Iran, Kerry said that he did not discuss this issue at all with the prime minister.According to Kerry, Netanyahu has "been extremely constructive" concerning the next steps and where we need to go now. "He understands that we are now in the real negotiations."  Kerry said that he told Netanyahu that I am "firmly convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that Israel is safer today after we have reached this first step agreement than it was before we reached it." The Secretary of State said that the US and Israel were working "very closely" on what a final comprehensive agreement on Iran should look like."Israel and the United States are absolutely in synch," he said, "not an ounce of daylight between us with respect to the need to make sure that Iran cannot achieve a nuclear weapons, will not in the future be able to achieve it, and certainly cannot move toward it without the United States and Israel knowing that, and therefore being able to take steps to deal with it.

Norway Delegation: Israel Belongs to the Jews

Christian leaders ask forgiveness over Norway's attitude, pledge support for Israel, perhaps in new Christian political party.-By Yoni Kempinski, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 12/5/2013, 6:05 PM-isralnationalnews

Pastor Terje Ligerod, head of the Norwegian delegation of roughly 40 Christian leaders visiting Israel this week, told Arutz Sheva that his group came to ask forgiveness for Norway's antagonism towards Jews, and to pledge support for the Jewish state.Ligerod noted "we believe we are called as a nation to be an ally and to support Israel, and we as leaders want to work for change in our country, and for a repentance among the Christians in our country, we want to support Israel."The delegation of Christian leaders from all over Norway, which includes representatives of Norway's original ethnic group, the Sami, presented a 7 page declaration highlighting some of the things they repent for.The declaration reads "forgive us Israel, as a nation, for the Oslo agreement, dividing up Eretz Yisrael (the land of Israel); for not moving our embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel's eternal undivided capital city Jerusalem," as well as not standing up to defend Israel in a world of increasing hostility, including hostility from Norwegian politicians and media.Ligerod emphasized "we want to stand on the biblical basis, the word of G-d, stating very clearly that the Jews are the chosen people of G-d, and that Eretz Yisrael belongs to the Jews."The visit was a first step in new relations according to Josh Reinstein, Director of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus.Reinstein noted that while Norway has been antagonistic as a nation, the visit comes "on the heels of a new election where a christian political party has been elected to parliament." He predicted the events may herald the beginning of new relations, adding that faith based diplomacy is the "most influential weapon we have in the diplomatic cache today."MK Rabbi Dov Lipman (Yesh Atid) a member of the Knesset Christian Caucus, commented that the delegation is "very sincere" and "troubled by what they know to be their faith's past."In meeting the leaders, Lipman said there was no lingering hard feelings from the Jewish side, just a desire to look to the future and work together.

Kerry praises Abbas for negotiating ‘despite difficulties’

Insisting sides have ‘made progress,’ Kerry may return to region next week; PA reportedly rejects latest US security proposals

December 5, 2013, 8:08 pm 0

Kerry arrived in the region Wednesday night for talks with Israeli and Palestinian officials on the peace talks, and to present an American plan for security arrangements in the West Bank under a possible future peace accord.A Palestinian official told Reuters on Thursday that Palestinians rejected the ideas raised by Kerry.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity and declined to elaborate on the proposals, said Kerry presented them to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after discussing them separately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.“The Palestinian side rejected them because they would only lead to prolonging and maintaining the occupation,” the official said.Abbas was not immediately available after the Ramallah talks and did not join Kerry in his brief comments to reporters.Netanyahu also appeared to reject the arrangement when he insisted that in any deal “Israel can and must be able to defend by itself with our own forces against any foreseeable threat.”

A Palestinian Authority (PA) official involved in talks between the PA and Israel said Thursday that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has rejected every offer put forth by United States Secretary of State John Kerry regarding security in the Jordan Valley. The source said the security arrangements Kerry proposed were unacceptable because they would not prevent Israelis from continuing to live in the region.Kerry’s proposals were controversial among Israeli politicians. MK Moti Yogev (Jewish Home) said of the arrangements, “We are not interested in the security arrangements that the Americans are trying to sell us in the [Jordan] Valley or the [Temple] Mount."Yogev told Kerry, "We saw what happened as a result of security arrangements like these, after Oslo and saw how you retreated from the position of pressure on Iran and allowed it to become a nuclear threshold state which threatens Israel."“There is only one state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean: the state of Israel, which defends itself, with G-d’s help,” he concluded.Earlier, Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon said Israel must clearly tell Kerry that it will not sign an agreement that would put Israeli lives at risk.Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, who is in charge of Israel’s delegation to the talks, said of Kerry’s proposals, “I believe that a diplomatic agreement is a necessity, nationally, economically and in terms of security. So in any agreement, we need to protect our security interests,” hse said.“We need to design the reality, while taking into account the difficult neighborhood we live in,” she added. “It is not simple, but it is necessary, and possible.”

Rep. Hunter: If Necessary, Nuke Iran

California Republican and member of the House Armed Services Committee, Duncan Hunter, joined C-SPAN’s Washington Journal Wednesday to discuss U.S.-Iranian policy, saying that the U.S. should use tactical nuclear devices rather than putting boots on the ground if it were ever to attack Iran.“I think people like to toss around the fact that we have to stop them in some way from gaining them this nuclear capability,” he said. “I don't think it’s inevitable but I think if you have to hit Iran, you do it with tactical nuclear devices and set them back a decade or two or three. I think that's the way to do it, with a massive aerial bombardment campaign.”When asked if war with Iran was inevitable, Hunter responded, “I sure as hell hope not.” Hunter also noted that any aerial bombardment would be a “huge undertaking” and cost “billions and billions of dollars”, but would be vastly preferable to a ground war in Iran. After Iraq and Afghanistan, he said, America “knows its limitations in that area.”Hunter also expressed his support for a new round of economic sanctions against Iran, an idea that has garnered bipartisan support in both the Senate and House to the frustration of the Obama White House. Hunter criticized the administration’s rejection of new sanctions, saying “Congress should not wait." The current administration, he added, is “so in love the idea of just saying that they did something here, whether it works or not, that they’re blind to reality.”“I think we should proceed with sanctions to that the Iranians know that the deal offered to them is not an American deal with them – this is a Kerry-Obama deal with them and the rest of Congress is not behind them." The US Senate also still wants to impose sanctions, he said. "It's going to be very hard for them to say – OK, we'll just going to trust Iran and hope that they do the right thing for the first time in 40 years and see what happens.”

Arab MKs to Kerry: Bedouin relocation a crime against humanity

‘Prawer plan constitutes ethnic cleansing under international law,’ charges former MK after week of tensions over resettlement plan

December 5, 2013, 5:35 pm 1-The times of Israel

The plan, conceived in the Prime Minister’s Office Planning Directorate by its director Udi Prawer, would consolidate a number of sprawling, unregulated tent cities into towns with modern infrastructures and government services. Some 40,000 members of the southern Bedouin population of 220,000 are slated to be relocated to the new towns. The scheme has come under fire domestically and abroad. A “day of rage” on Saturday saw a number of protests against the plan around the world, including several within Israel that turned violent. The letter, sent to Kerry during his visit this week to Israel, insists that the so-called Prawer Plan amounts to “ethnic cleansing by Israel that must be stopped,” and asked for his “immediate intervention [to stop] the dispossession of thousands from their lands.”The letter notes that some of the Bedouin villages had existed “since before the founding of Israel, but Israeli governments have refused to recognize the settlements and have neglected them,” reads a Hebrew-language version of the letter. The current plan “seeks to ‘resettle’ them by force in an environment that is opposed to their way of life,” the MKs wrote.“This letter is part of the struggle of the Higher Coordinating Committee of Negev Arabs to bring international pressure to bear on the Israeli government to cancel the implementation of the Prawer Plan,” former Ra’am-Ta’al MK Taleb A-Sanaa, a Negev Bedouin, told Channel 10 News on Thursday.Activists have said implementation of the plan would disrupt the Bedouin’s traditional lifestyle and abandon them to urban slums and systemic poverty, and complain that the Bedouin were not sufficiently consulted as the government developed the plan. Some have called the plan racist. The government has dismissed the opposition to the plan, saying the status-quo of fast-growing unregulated tent-cities cannot be allowed to continue indefinitely.

“The Prawer plan is a flagrant violation of international conventions Israel has signed, especially the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights which enshrines the right to housing, and the Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Convention,” A-Sanaa accused.“Israel must obey international law and stop the implementation of the [Prawer plan], which constitutes ethnic cleansing and is a crime against humanity according to international law,” he said.Several hundred demonstrators gathered outside the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court Thursday in the latest protest against the plan. The demonstrators called for the release of over a dozen activists arrested last Saturday for alleged rock-throwing during a demonstration near the tent village of Hura against the plan.

Trying to smooth over Iran feud, Kerry moves from sticks to carrots

Secretary of state endorses Israeli demand for recognition as Jewish state, presents plan to guarantee border security. Netanyahu likely still unimpressed

December 5, 2013, 5:53 pm 13-The Times of Israel
“The United States will do everything in our power to make certain that Iran’s nuclear program — a program of weaponization possibilities — is terminated,” Kerry pledged. Attempting to assuage widespread fears that the temporary deal hatched last month in Geneva would become a permanent situation, Kerry said Jerusalem and Washington “agree on what the goal of the final status agreement ought to be.”The US administration’s idea of an endgame remains shrouded in mystery. But Israel’s demands are clear: Iran must not be left with any enriched uranium and needs to dismantle all facilities that could be used to produce nuclear weapons.
While Kerry probably did not bring with him a concrete proposal for the upcoming talks with Iran, he and his team did present Netanyahu and his advisers with a scheme on security arrangements in a future peace deal with the Palestinians. Indeed, in the first leg of his current visit to the region, intended mainly to revive the stalling Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations, Kerry tried to address two of Netanyahu’s key concerns thought by Washington to be impeding progress in the talks: recognition of Israel as a Jewish state and ironclad security arrangements.Since Netanyahu reluctantly agreed to restart peace talks with the Palestinian Authority four months ago, he has reiterated numerous times that these two conditions need to be met for him to sign any agreement.“In order for there to be peace between us and our Palestinian neighbors, they must recognize the right of the Jewish people to a state of its own in its homeland,” he said at a cabinet meeting last month. “The second foundation is the security that can defend the peace and will defend the Jewish state in case the peace frays.” These security arrangements “will certainly include many things,” he said, “but first and foremost, the security border of the State of Israel will remain along the Jordan River.”
Speaking at a press conference after his meeting with Netanyahu Thursday morning at the Prime Minister’s Office, Kerry went out of his way to please his host. “I join with President [Barack] Obama in expressing to the people of Israel our deep, deep commitment to the security of Israel and to the need to find a peace that recognizes Israel as a Jewish state, that recognizes Israel as a country that can defend itself, by itself,” Kerry said. “That is an important principle with which the prime minister and the president and I are in agreement.”
Kerry’s quasi endorsement of Netanyahu’s demand for Israel to be recognized by the Palestinians as a Jewish state does not signify a reversal on US policy. Back in March, Obama had said in Jerusalem that the “Palestinians must recognize that Israel will be a Jewish state.” But still, it’s music to Netanyahu’s ears every time he hears it, and Kerry knew exactly what to say to try to get back on “my friend Bibi’s” good side.

More concretely, Kerry also had a detailed plan for security arrangements in a future peace deal in his suitcase. Washington is keenly aware of Israel’s worries, Kerry took great pains in explaining. “I understand the challenges to security that Israel faces. I understand it very well,” he said, mentioning that he had visited the rocket-stricken towns in Israel’s north and south, and understands their suffering. To make sure Israel can go ahead and negotiate in earnest with the Palestinians, Gen. John Allen, a former US commander in Afghanistan, “provided the prime minister and his military leadership with some thoughts” about how to guarantee Israel’s safety, he said. One reason the peace talks have been stalling in recent weeks, analysts surmise, is Netanyahu’s reluctance to produce a map of how he imagines the two future states would look, mainly because he is not willing to discuss borders before his security concerns are allayed. General Allen’s plan can be understood as an effort to show Jerusalem that while the US understands Israel’s legitimate worries, there are ways to address them.Officials have yet to confirm details of the American proposal. According to Haaretz, it integrates “physical security arrangements” in the West Bank “with American security guarantees for Israel and proposed American military aid to the Israel Defense Forces.”
Netanyahu was probably not impressed by the American initiative. He maintains that Israel needs to keep a security presence in the Jordan Valley, a demand the Palestinians resolutely reject. “Israel is ready for a historic peace, and it’s a peace based on two states for two peoples,” the prime minister said at Thursday’s joint press conference with Kerry, after he had seen Allen’s draft. “It’s a peace that Israel can and must be able to defend by itself with our own forces against any foreseeable threat.”Danon: ‘We will not allow Kerry to pressure us into another bad deal. We will never compromise on our security, even if it means saying no to our closest ally’And even in the unlikely scenario that Netanyahu would be inclined to work with the US proposal, the right flank of his Likud party, which is opposed to a Palestinian state on ideological grounds, doubtless has profound reservations about Allen’s ideas.Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon rejected the American proposal even before Kerry and Netanyahu emerged from their meeting, because it allegedly includes the “possibility of Palestinian representatives at international border crossings.”“Israel will not outsource its basic security needs to the Palestinians,” Danon said in a statement. “After the debacle in Geneva [where the interim deal with Iran was signed], we will not allow Secretary Kerry to pressure us into another bad deal… We will never compromise on our security, even if it means saying no to our closest ally.”
Kerry put his all into burying the hatchet with Netanyahu and washing away the bad blood between Jerusalem and Washington, which started with an aggressive television interview last month and escalated in the last two weeks with harsh statements back and forth over the Iran deal. On Thursday, Netanyahu, too, tried to move on, calling Kerry a “welcome friend” and refraining from any open criticism (such as calling the Geneva agreement “a historic mistake.”) But a few nice words, even well-chosen ones, will not be enough to obscure the deep divisions that currently fester between Washington and Jerusalem, on both the Palestinians and Iran.

Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) has recently translated interviews with released terrorists and their families broadcasted on official Palestinian Authority (PA) TV. The interviews reveal that the terrorists have no regrets, lived a life of ease in jail, and had easy access for familial visits. The televised testimony contrasts sharply with PA libel claiming prisoners suffer harsh conditions and their families have a hard time seeing them. In 2010, PA government supervisor of prisoners Issa Keraka called for an international investigation of Israeli "violations" against PA prisoners. The interviews came after the second batch of 26 terrorists was released on October 29, bringing the total number released to date to 52 out of 104 promised in the "gesture" for peace talks. Meanwhile a senior official in Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) said the PA is only staying in talks to release all 104 prisoners. The released terrorists in the second batch of "gestures" were greeted as heroes, and summarily given a $50,000 grant each and senior positions at the PA with extremely high monthly salaries.Asrar Samrin, one of the newly released terrorists who was serving a life sentence for the 1991 murder of Israeli Tzvi Klein, appeared on PA TV October 30. He remarked that "the first question all Israeli media ask every released prisoner is: 'Do you regret what you did or not?'"
Samrin said: "through the great PA TV, I say to the Israelis: There is no Palestinian who did something for the homeland and his nation who will regret it. We don't regret what we did and we will not regret what we did."

According to Hilal the "worst thing about Israeli prison" was having to sit on a metal chair for a long time while transported on the prison bus. The "ride of torment," as Hilal called it, involved having to "sit on a metal chair, made entirely of metal, there's nothing but metal inside it."Hilal described the daily routine for terrorist prisoners. After exercising in the morning, Hilal said "the guys would get together in the prison yard and we'd chat, talk, eat, drink, joke and play, etc., throughout the day." There would be a "noon roll-call" for several hours of "resting in the rooms...nap time, reading time, study time," following by more time in the yard "walking, laughing, playing, joking, etc., until dark."The interview can be seen here:On October 30, relatives of freshly released terrorists were also interviewed on PA. According to them, the security check when visiting their terrorist kin in jail was similar to an average airport check.Brother of released murderer Osama Abu Hananeh said "the visit was exhausting when we went through the [security] check. They would even pass our shoes through a machine."Meanwhile the mother of released murderer Ahmad Abd Al-Aziz Qadura, when asked if she had difficulties visiting her terrorist son, said "no, by Allah, nothing. Thank Allah, we would visit them and go home."Hananeh, Qadura and two others murdered Motti Biton and wounded his wife Molly near Jenin in 1992.The video segment can be seen here:
