U.S. Distances Itself from Netanyahu's Comments-State Department distances itself from-Netanyahu's comments in UN speech regarding the similarities between Hamas and IS.By Ben Ariel-First Publish: 9/30/2014, 4:16 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

The U.S. State Department distanced itself on Monday from comments made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.Speaking to reporters, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki particularly referred to Netanyahu’s comparison between Hamas and the “Islamic State” (IS or ISIS), as well as to his criticism of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).“We believe they’re both terrorist organizations,” she said, responding to a question regarding Netanyahu’s saying that Hamas and IS are one and the same.“We obviously believe that [IS] poses a different threat to the United States, based on, of course, the military action and other efforts that are underway,” added Psaki.“We don’t believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu or anyone else from Israel is suggesting that the United States launch a military campaign against Hamas, so we certainly – they are both designated terrorist organizations under the United States designations, but certainly we see differences -- in terms of the threat and otherwise,” she said.Psaki also distanced herself from Netanyahu’s comment that the UNHRC “has become a Terrorists' Human Rights Council", though she acknowledged Washington had some issues with some of the UNHRC’s actions.“We would not agree with that,” she said, when asked if the U.S. agreed with Netanyahu’s statement that the UNHRC is a “terrorists’ commission”.“We have obviously voiced concerns when we have them about actions that are taken, but no, we would certainly not agree with that characterization,” added Psaki.“We don’t see the need for heated rhetoric. But obviously there are times when we certainly agree, and we’ve expressed concerns in the past as well about the same organization and how they operate,” she said.Speaking to reporters on Sunday just before takeoff on his way to New York, Netanyahu reiterated his pledge to "refute the lies" against Israel at the UN General Assembly, particularly in the speech by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who accused Israel of “genocide” and “war crimes”.His associates later said the speech would be "razor sharp" and "worth the wait."

Abbas's Spokesman: We Want a Palestinian State-PA Chairman's spokesman responds to Netanyahu's speech at the UN, says PA wants a state in accordance with UN resolutions.By Dalit Halevi and Ben Ariel-First Publish: 9/30/2014, 3:44 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, responded on Monday evening to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations, saying that the solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict should be based on the decisions of legitimate international institutions, on the Arab Peace Initiative and on the UN General Assembly resolution of November 29, 2012, in which “Palestine” was recognized as a non-member observer state at the UN.Abu Rudeineh added that the solution should lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital in eastern Jerusalem. He said Israel “must stop settlement construction immediately, lift the siege [on Gaza] and stop the actions of the extremists in the holy places.”In his speech, Netanyahu linked subjects such as Hamas, ISIS, Iran, anti-Semitism, and Israeli-Palestinian issues to the theme of global partnership and the war against global jihad (and, by extension, extremism). He said that "Hamas is ISIS, and ISIS is Hamas. And what they share is what all Islamism shares: [. . .] they all have the same ideology, they all seek to establish a global militant Islam - where there is no freedom.""To them, anyone can be considered an infidel, including fellow Muslims," declared Netanyahu. The speech also focused on refuting claims by Abbas in his UN speech last week, in which he accused Israel of “genocide” and “war crimes”."Hamas cynically used schools - UN schools! - and hospitals, and mosques to house civilians, as Israel surgically struck to eliminate terrorists," Netanyahu said."We were not [targeting civilians]," Netanyahu fired. "We regret every civilian casualty."He noted that the IDF took many measures to warn Palestinian civilians ahead of every strike."No other army in history has gone to greater lengths to prevent civilian casualties in the population of their enemies," he noted, to applause. "They upheld the highest moral values of any army in the world.""Israel's army deserves the admiration of decent people everywhere," he added, to applause. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) denounced Netanyahu’s speech, accusing him of “blatantly manipulating” the facts when he compared Hamas with the Islamic State and Iran."Netanyahu's speech at the UN was a blatant manipulation of facts and attempted at misleading the audience through a combination of hate language, slander and argument of obfuscation," PLO executive member Hanan Ashrawi said.

Nationalist MKs Praise Netanyahu's UN Speech-While leftist MKs rejected the Prime Minister's speech, nationalist MKs praised Netanyahu for exposing the PA's lies.By Ben Ariel-First Publish: 9/30/2014, 2:44 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

While Knesset Members from the leftist side of the political map rejected Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly as having “missed the mark”, nationalist MKs welcomed Netanyahu’s comments on Monday.MK Ze'ev Elkin (Likud), chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, said, “I congratulate the Prime Minister on his appropriate response to the lies and slanders of [Palestinian Authority Chairman] Mahmoud Abbas, and am calling the Prime Minister and the Cabinet to move from words to actions!”“Mahmoud Abbas should know that continuing the war of slander and attacks against Israel in the international arena will involve a painful price that he and the PA leadership will have to pay. It is inconceivable that Abbas, who depends on us every step of the way for almost everything, will continue to enjoy our help while conducting a diplomatic war against us,” he added. Deputy Minister Ofir Akunis (Likud) said, “While Abbas used the UN podium to distribute the well-known Palestinian lies, Prime Minister Netanyahu revealed the most basic truth about the reality in the Middle East and delivered the truth.”Akunis continued, “It is good that the Prime Minister held up a mirror in front of the western world and emphasized the immediate dangers that Iran, Hamas and ISIS place before it. As always, the truth is stronger and more effective than false propaganda.”Deputy Transportation Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) also welcomed the Prime Minister's speech at the UN and said, “This is a formal declaration on the part of Israel that talks with the Palestinians have ended. Promoting relations with the moderate Arab world will be done directly because of shared interests rather than on the building of another terrorist state on Israeli territory."MK Motti Yogev (Jewish Home) said that Netanyahu’s speech “reflected the reality in the Middle East. It was an answer to the Iranian speech of deception and the incitement speech of the Palestinian Authority”.“Netanyahu also correctly reflected on the relation between the radical Islamic terrorist organizations and the Iranian nuclear threat to Israel and the entire world,” said Yogev, who added that “the thoughts about an enemy Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria endanger the security of the State of Israel and belong in the garbage can of the tumultuous history of the Middle East.”Deputy Education Minister Avi Wortzman (Jewish Home) also welcomed Netanyahu’s speech and compared it with the speech by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who accused Israel of “genocide” and “war crimes”. “Abu Mazen continues to lie on every possible platform. The left continues to strive for an agreement with Arafat's successor, but we discover again and again that these are nothing but pipe dreams,” he said.“It's time to end the dialogue with the terrorist, Hamas’s partner, who goes around wearing a suit,” added Wortzman.

Netanyahu at UN: 'ISIS is Hamas, Hamas is ISIS'-In landmark speech, PM calls UNHRC 'an oxymoron' - and defends Israel as 'the most moral army in the world.'By Tova Dvorin-First Publish: 9/29/2014, 7:39 PM / Last Update: 9/29/2014, 8:09 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, in a bid to refute the smear campaign launched by Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas claiming Israel is guilty of "genocide." "Distinguished delegates, I come here from Jerusalem to speak on behalf of my people, the people of Israel," Netanyahu began. "I have come here to speak about the dangers we face [. . ] against the brazen lies about my country and about the people who defend it." The Prime Minister emphasized that Israel's fight against Hamas is a microcosm of the fight against global jihad."Ladies and gentlemen, the people of Israel pray for peace, but those hopes are in danger - because militant Islam is on the rise," he stated. "No one is spared - Christians, Jews, and Muslims."

"Their ultimate goal is to dominate the world."

"That threat may seem exaggerated to some, because it starts out small - like a cancer," he continued. "But cancer grows, covering a wider and wider area. To protect the security of the world, we must remove the scab, before it's too late."

Hamas = ISIS

Netanyahu then noted the hypocrisy of public opinion."Last week, many people in the world applauded US President Barack Obama for joining the fight against ISIS," he stated. "The same countries complained against Israel for fighting Hamas.""They don't understand that ISIS and Hamas are the branches of the same poisonous tree," he continued. "Hamas shares the same militant ambitions of global Islamists."Netanyahu compared ISIS and Hamas's charters, and noted that Hamas cheered when thousands died in the US during the September 11, 2001 attacks."Hamas is ISIS, and ISIS is Hamas," he declared. "And what they share is what all Islamism shares: [. . .] they all have the same ideology, they all seek to establish a global militant Islam - where there is no freedom.""To them, anyone can be considered an infidel, including fellow Muslims."Netanyahu then compared Hamas, ISIS, and Nazis."The Nazis believed in a master race; Islamists believe in a master faith," Netanyahu said. "The question before us is whether militant Islam will have the power to realize their unbridled ambition."

Hamas, ISIS, and Iran: same same, new name

Netanyahu then addressed the Iran issue, noting that the Islamic Revolution was based on the decree that the whole world will cry, 'There is no God but Allah in the entire world.' Today, the Revolutionary Guards aim to establish an "Islamic World Government," he notes. As for the opinion that Iran's views on this are only fueled by "extremists," Netanyahu dismissed it as "changing both the ideology and the content" of Iranian governance. He quoted lines from a book by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, whereby Rouhani says he has "problems with the West.""Don't be fooled by Iran's manipulative 'charm offensive,'" Netanyahu urged. "It's for one reason only: to remove sanctions, and to lift obstacles to the path of power." "This would essentially cement Iran's place as a threshold nuclear power," he continued, saying it would "pose the gravest threat to us all.""It's one thing to confront militant Islamists on the back of a pickup truck armed with rifles," he said. "It's another to confront militant Islamists with weapons of mass destruction." Netanyahu then compared the situation with ISIS to the situation with Syrian chemical weapons, whereby he noted that Syria was disarmed - but ISIS and Iran are not."Would you let ISIS build a water reactor? Would you let ISIS have access to nuclear weapons?" he asked. "Of course you wouldn't, and you should not let the Islamic State of Iran either." If so, he says, "the Ayatollah will show their true face and unleash their fanaticism to the entire world.""Iran's military capabilities must be fully dismantled," he declared, to general applause. "Make no mistake: ISIS must be defeated. But to defeat ISIS and leave Iran as a threshold nuclear power would be to win the battle and lose the war.""Ladies and gentleman, the fight against militant Islam is indivisible," he continued. "That's why Israel's fight against Hamas is not our fight: it's your fight. Our fight against Hamas today could be your fight tomorrow."

'Would you let terrorists fire rockets at your cities?'

Netanyahu then addressed Operation Protective Edge."You wouldn't let terrorists fire rockets at your cities with impunity," he said. "Nor would you let them dig terror tunnels or kidnap your citizens." "Yet Israel faced another challenge: a propaganda war.""Hamas cynically used schools - UN schools! - and hospitals, and mosques to house civilians, as Israel surgically struck to eliminate terrorists." "We were not [targeting civilians]," Netanyahu fired. "We regret every civilian casualty."Netanyahu noted that the IDF took many measures to warn Palestinian civilians ahead of every strike."No other army in history has gone to greater lengths to prevent civilian casualties in the population of their enemies," he noted, to applause. "They upheld the highest moral values of any army in the world." "Israel's army deserves the admiration of decent people everywhere," he added, to applause.

Redefining 'war crime' and 'human rights council'

Netanyahu also noted Hamas's executions of Fatah members and dissidents, as well as the terror group's deliberate use of children as human shields, using a France 24 photo as proof."This is a war crime," he said. "I say to Abbas: there are the war crimes committed by Hamas, under your leadership, under the unity government you head, and these are the war crimes you should have called to investigate last week.""The profound moral difference between Israel and Hamas couldn't have been clearer," he said. "Israel was using missiles to protect its children, Hamas was using children to protect its missiles.""The UNHRC has betrayed its noble principles to protect its enemies," he continued, noting it is "turning the concept of war upside down.""The UNHRC is sending a clear message to terrorists everywhere: use civilians as a human shield. Use them again, and again, and again. You know why? Because sadly, it works.""Thus, the UNHRC has become a Terrorists' Human Rights Council," Netanyahu declared, noting that it "may have already had consequences." Netanyahu slammed the UNHRC for dedicating over half of its resolutions against Israel, "where issues are openly debated in our boisterous parliament.""The UNHRC is an oxymoron, but I'll use it just the same," he said. "Its policies are an extension of the oldest prejudice in the world. It's a function of diseased minds: it's called anti-Semitism, which is spreading in polite society, which is being legitimized as a form of criticism against Israel.""Genocide? In what moral universe does a country attempt over and over again to get its enemies out of harm's way? To build field hospitals? To ship tons and tons of aid?""The same moral universe where the man who wrote a dissertation denying the Holocaust can stand on the podium and claim Israel commits genocide."

Israel: standing tall

"Today, Israel will defend itself against her enemies," Netanyahu continued. "Israel will try its enemies on the courts of public opinion. Israel will stand proud and unbowed." Applause followed. "Together, Israel and the world face many of the same dangers," he noted, including "militant Islam and a nuclear Iran." "Our job is to form a partnership over these issues," he said."I believe the partnership between us can also facilitate peace between Israel and the Palestinians," he added, noting that the "active involvement of Arab countries - those who are willing to provide political, material, and other support - could bring a compromise.""The people of Israel are not the occupiers in the land of Israel," Netanyahu said, citing "history, archaeology, and common sense.""I want peace because I believe it will bring a better future for my people," he said, calling for one which brings "rock-solid security arrangements on the ground.""As the Prime Minister of Israel, I am entrusted with the awesome of responsibility of protecting the Jewish people and the Jewish state," he said. "I will never waver on that responsibility."

Partnership for peace in the Middle East

"In Israel, we have a record of making the impossible, possible," Netanyahu said. "We have made the desert flourish. We have led the world in technological innovation."But in order for Israel to "reach its full potential," he said, "the template for peace must change.""There is a new Middle East. It has many dangers, but also many opportunities. We are working to work together with our global partners to face those dangers and seize those new opportunities.""All of this may fly in the face of conventional wisdom, but it is the truth," he said. "And the truth most be spoken - especially here, at the United Nations."

War of words

Speaking just before takeoff on his way to New York, Netanyahu reiterated his pledge to "refute the lies" against Israel at the UN General Assembly, particularly in the speech by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who accused Israel of “genocide” and “war crimes”."In my speech to the General Assembly, I will refute the lies that are being told about us and I will tell the truth about our state and the heroic soldiers of the IDF, the most moral army in the world," Netanyahu said on the tarmac at Ben Gurion airport near Tel Aviv before boarding the plane.Netanyahu's response will reportedly be "razor sharp," according to close confidantes of the Prime Minister, who added that it will be "worth the wait."On Friday, Abbas made a pathos-laden speech to the UNGA, vowing to prosecute Israel for "war crimes" in International Criminal Court (ICC)."There is an occupation that must end now," he claimed. "There is a people that must be freed immediately. The hour of independence of the state of Palestine has arrived."He did not set a deadline for fast-tracking to what he claimed would be "Palestinian statehood," after aides suggested they were eyeing 2017 as a possible date.Describing Israel's defensive operation in Gaza as a "genocidal crime," Abbas pledged: "We will not forget and we will not forgive, and we will not allow war criminals to escape punishment."Abbas’s speech garnered strong reactions from the U.S. - which called the tirade "offensive" - and from Israeli MKs across the political spectrum.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

Abbas Wants a State Instead of Israel'-Deputy Minister Akunis says Netanyahu will deliver 'the speech of truth' after Abbas's 'speech of lies.'By Shimon Cohen, Gil Ronen-First Publish: 9/28/2014, 7:23 PM-israelnationalnews
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, MK Ofir Akunis (Likud), reacted sharply Sunday to the speech delivered by Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations General Assembly last week.Abbas “is making false and underhanded use of the podium at the UNGA to repeat the Palestinian lies that have become familiar to us in the 100-year conflict."In the face of Abbas's speech of lies, the prime minister must give a speech of truth, and he will do this,” Akunis said. No Jewish person, from the left or right wing, can help but be shocked by the toxic propaganda that Abbas used against Israel when he accused it of genocide. There is but one truth, Akunis explained. “Israel is right and the Palestinians are wrong. Israel wants peace and the Palestinians do not. Israel provides economic plenty even for those who are not Jews, and the Palestinian swant a Jew-free state.”"Abbas,” he added, “does not want a state beside Israel but a state instead of Israel. We are here to block him and to block the establishment of a Palestinian state on the hilltops of Judea and Samaria... These are tracts of land that have been ours for 4,000 years.”

Temple Institute Raises $100k for Third Temple Plans-The Temple Institute’s crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for architectural plans for the Third Temple has raised $100,000.By Yaakov Levi-First Publish: 9/28/2014, 6:07 PM-israelnationalnews

The Temple Institute’s crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the modern architectural plans for the Third Holy Temple in Jerusalem came to a close on Rosh Hashanah after surpassing its $100,000 goal in 60 days. The initiative began on the first day of the month of Av, when Jews commemorate the destruction of the ancient Holy Temples. Almost 900 pledges have come in from more than 30 countries worldwide.Crowdfunding is a new method of fundraising that leverages the power of the Internet to gather investments or contributions from around the world. The Temple Institute used the Indiegogo platform to reach out to supporters, with links to social media pages, like Facebook, where the campaign page received 10,000 shares. A promotional video on the Facebook and Indiegogo pages, which depicts a digital rendition of the Holy Temple on the modern day Temple Mount, has been viewed by over 160,000 people.Jews have prayed to rebuild the Temple, three times daily since its destruction by Roman Legions in 70 CE. The Temple Institute's project to draw up architectural plans began three years ago with the Chamber of Hewn Stone, depicted in this video. The funds raised from the Indiegogo campaign will be used to continue the research of the Institute and to commission additional architectural plans. The architects will fuse Jewish law with modern technology to prepare for a fully modern third Temple, Kosher to the letter of the law but including modern conveniences like underground parking, heating and computerized washing stations that minimize water waste.Rabbi Chaim Richman, International Director of the Temple Institute explained why they chose the novel approach of fund raising through crowd funding: "We are constantly looking for ways to include as many people as possible in our mission to rebuild the Holy Temple. This is not about one group or organization, it's about bringing about a spiritual reunification of mankind, today with the help of the internet our message is resonating across the globe. Our decision to use Indiegogo for this campaign was an extension of our success on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter".

Safed Chief Rabbi Surprises Knesset C'tee with Temple Mount Call-Chief Rabbi of Tzfat Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu calls for Jews to be more protected on the Temple Mount, safeguarding of conversion process.-By Hillel Fendel-First Publish: 8/15/2014, 9:09 AM-israelnationalnews

Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu asked the police to enhance both security and accessibility for the increasing numbers of Jews visiting the Temple Mount.Rabbi Eliyahu first participated in a Knesset Interior Committee session on the topic of conversions to Judaism on Wednesday. He then made a surprise visit to a sub-committee meeting held later the same day. His goal was to encourage procedures to ease Jewish visits to Judaism's holiest site. Eldest son of the late saintly Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, the Chief Rabbi of Tzfat (Safed) called for an end to the "disgrace" on the Mount, and said that Jewish visitors must be protected more actively. "The number of Torah-observant visitors is increasing," the rabbi told the police representatives at the session, "and the questions I receive indicate that this rate will continue. I ask you: Please protect my children and my students!""Even at my own Sabbath table," Rabbi Eliyahu said with his characteristic twinkling smile, "there are dynamic discussions about whether to visit the holy site. Half of my children do so." He confirmed that his father, a former Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Israel, has called for the construction of a synagogue on the Temple Mount.Religious Jews often come under threat by Moslem crowds during their visits to the Mount. In addition, the police often restrict their visits, closing the site to Jews altogether for days at a time.Earlier on Wednesday, Rabbi Eliyahu addressed the full Knesset Interior Committee regarding the current proposed bill to ease the process of converting to Judaism. He said that the Chief Rabbinate must remain the central player in everything having to do with conversion, and that if not, conversions in Israel are simply liable not to be trusted by the religious establishment.

He Didn't Come Here to Peel Carrots'-Knife-wielding terrorist who crossed into Israel from Gaza was caught by alert security officer.By Orli Harari, Gil Ronen-First Publish: 9/28/2014, 8:00 PM-israelnationalnews

The Security Officer for the Sdot Negev Regional Council, Rafi Babiyan, told IDF Radio Sunday about the arrest of the terrorist who infiltrated from Gaza to one of the region's communities."We received an alert about a possible infiltration from Gaza,” he recounted. “The security men and the Military Security Officers started to roll out the emergency preparedness squads, in order to protect the communities. As we combed the area, we received word that a suspect was identified east of the community in an open field."They overpowered him and took away his weapons, a spike and a knife,” said Babiyan. When asked what the terrorists' intentions were he said wryly: “I do not know where he was headed but let's just say this: he did not come to peel carrots at Kibbutz Alumim.”The terrorist was caught eight kilometers inside Israel's territory – meaning that he penetrated a long way into Israel before he was caught. “The event is an irregular one,” agreed Babiyan, “and I am certain that the IDF will hold an inquiry into the event and learn lessons so that this kind of thing will not happen.”Tamir Idan, Head of the Sdot Negev Regional Council, credited the local Military Security Officer [a position usually referred to by the Hebrew acronym 'ravshatz'] for catching the suspect and noted that the IDF intends to slash the number of such officers in the region or turn them into part-time employees."Today, too, the ravshatzim proved their neccessity and their great contribution to the security array in the southern communities,” Idan said. “I am certain that following the lessons learned in Operation Protective Edge, and the latest event, the minister of defense and the prime minister will reconsider the decision to cancel ravshatz positions and cut them.”

IDF Opens New Mixed-Gender Battalion-The Bardelas battalion will be comprised of 50% women and 50% men and serve mostly in Central Command.By Gil Ronen-First Publish: 9/28/2014, 9:31 PM-israelnationalnews

The IDF is plowing ahead with its gender-mixng experiment and establishing a new mixed-gender battalion called Bardelas (cheetah), according to the IDF Website. The battalion will mostly be in charge of routine security in the Central Command region, which includes Judea and Samaria. It joins the mixed-gender Karakal battalion, which has been in existence for a decade.Fifty percent of the battalion's soldiers will be women.Critics of the gender-mixing experiment in the IDF have noted that women who serve in combat units suffer from an extremely high rate of injury and that often, entire platoons are disabled because of this. According to Col. (res.) Raz Sagi, who has authored a book on the subject, injuries suffered by women tend to be more serious and often involve stress fractures at the hip and uterine prolapse, which can cause permanent inability to give birth. In addition, the critics point out that in order to enable enough women to pass the physical tests for entry into the combat units, requirements for women are significantly lower than for men. In a physical test that includes jumping over a wall, for instance, the women are given a bench to step on as they climb over the wall. Another technique adopted by the military to mask gender differences is to have trainees run long distances in circles rather than in straight lines, making it less embarrassing for the women to lag behind the men, because no one can tell what lap they have completed at any given point in time. There is also great concern about the fate of women who are taken captive by the enemy. A military source told Arutz Sheva that in the recent fighting in Gaza, there were strict orders never to allow a female soldier to go anywhere without male accompaniment. The gender experiment in the IDF was largely conceived by a “gender team” that was led by Professor Naomi Chazan in the early 2000s.

88 Senators to Kerry: Hand Gaza to the PA-Senators urge the Obama administration to act to take Gaza away from Hamas and hand it over to the PA.By Ben Ariel, Canada-First Publish: 9/24/2014, 10:52 PM-israelnationalnews

88 senators are urging the Obama administration to act to take Gaza away from its Hamas terrorist rulers and hand it over to the Palestinian Authority (PA), The Daily Beast reports. In a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry obtained by the website, the 88 senators write, “We must support efforts to enable the Palestinian Authority to exercise real power in Gaza. Hamas has demonstrated conclusively both that it has no interest in peace with Israel and that it has no concern for the well-being of Gaza residents.”The letter to Kerry was circulated in the senate by Sen. Kelly Ayotte, a Republican and Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat, according to The Daily Beast. The senators said in the letter they support humanitarian aid to Gaza but will oppose reconstruction of Gaza until Hamas disarms, a position which is the same as the Israeli government and which Hamas has rejected. The senators also urge Kerry to continue to work against efforts from PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to target Israel in international forums, such as the International Criminal Court.“All Palestinians deserve a government that will seek to advance their safety and prosperity—not use them as human shields,” the senators wrote.“Real peace between Israelis and Palestinians will require a Palestinian partner that controls the West Bank and Gaza, is focused on economic development and stability in both areas, and will accept Gaza’s demilitarization. We must start this process now.”This is not the first time that senators have urged Kerry to take action with regards to Hamas. In May, U.S. Senators Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) called on the Secretary of State to publicly state that there will be an immediate cut-off of relevant U.S. assistance to the PA, should its unity government fail to comply with the detailed requirements set forth by the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2006.In September of 2011, a $192 million aid package was frozen by Congress after the PA submitted a failed unilateral bid for United Nations membership.Members of Congress later released $40 million in economic and humanitarian funding for the PA, saying it is “vital to establishing and strengthening the foundations necessary for a future Palestinian state.”In April of 2012, President Barack Obama bypassed a Congress block and signed a waiver declaring that aid to the Palestinian Authority is “important to the security interests of the United States.”(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of the Rosh Hashanah holiday in New York. Bennett: No Jews Will Be Afraid to Walk French Streets-On a visit to France Sunday, Economics Minister Naftali Bennett urged Jews still living in the country to come to Israel.By Yaakov Levi-First Publish: 9/28/2014, 10:51 PM-israelnationalnews

On a visit to France Sunday, Economics Minister Naftali Bennett urged Jews still living in the country to come to Israel. “Just this week we saw what hatred of Israel looks like,” Bennett told a crowd in Paris. “Our enemies fire rockets at our children and we defend ourselves, and then they get on the podium in the UN and accuse us of genocide,” Bennett said, referring to a speech given by Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas. “We say clearly that we will no longer allow Jews to remain defenseless, that no Jew will be afraid to walk the streets,” he said.Bennett arrived in France after several recent violent incidents against Jews in France. The most serious incident was an attempt by a Muslim mob to break into a synagogue in Paris in July. Muslim rioters surrounded Don Yitzchak Abarbanel Synagogue in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, and threw rocks into the house of worship. Large scale police forces were called to extricate the Jews.Bennett participated in an event in the synagogue, and is set to meet with community leaders and government officials, among them Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, with whom he will discuss security issues affecting French Jews.“With this visit, we express our connection to our brothers in France and all of Europe,” said Bennett. “If others will not be here to defend you, the State of Israel will always be by the side of all Jews, whoever and wherever they are,” Bennett added.

FOR THE POSTY TOASTY-YO YO RAPTURE CROWD.MY QUESTION IS.WHAT OR WHO GETS TAKEN OFF THE EARTH BEFORE THE EUROPEAN UNION WORLD DICTATOR ENTERS THE SCENE.

JEWISH KING JESUS IS COMING AT THE RAPTURE FOR US IN THE CLOUDS-DON'T MISS IT FOR THE WORLD.THE BIBLE TAKEN LITERALLY- WHEN THE PLAIN SENSE MAKES GOOD SENSE-SEEK NO OTHER SENSE-LEST YOU END UP IN NONSENSE.GET SAVED NOW- CALL ON JESUS TODAY.THE ONLY SAVIOR OF THE WHOLE EARTH - NO OTHER

MY PRE-TRIBULATION BELIEF

PROOF OF THE RAPTURE BEFORE 7 YR TRIBULATION.FOR SKEPTICS OF TRUTH.ITS THE REVELATION OF JESUS TO EARTH,NOT REVELATIONS OF JESUS TO START WITH.

REVELATION 1:19-REVELATION TIMELINE
19 Write the things which thou hast seen,(PAST-REV CH 1) and the things which are,(PRESENT-REV CH 2-3) and the things which shall be hereafter;(FUTURE-REV CH 4-22-THE 7 YR TRIBULATION-PEACE TREATY PERIOD)

REVELATION CH 1 PAST
REVELATION CH 2+3 CHURCH AGE.(JOHNS DAY)
REVELATION CH 4 THE RAPTURE.(FUTURE)(7 YR TRIB STARTS AFTER THE RAPTURE)
FOR SKEPTICS OF THE RAPTURE.WHY IS THE CHURCH NOT MENTIONED FROM REV CH 4 TILL CH 20 IS MY QUESTION.
WHEN REVELATION CH'S 6-19 ARE THE (7 YR TRIBULATION) PERIOD.

FOR THE POSTY TOASTY CROWD.THATS MY WAY OF SAYING THE MID TRIBERS. BECAUSE THE TOASTY PART OF MY SAYING IS.TOAST CAN BE BURNT BLACK.AND WHEN NUCLEAR WAR OCCURRS.BILLIONS WILL DIE AND EVERYTHING TURNED BLACK THAT WAS GREEN.OR TO SIMPLIFY IT.THE POSTY TOASTIES WILL BE GOING THREW PART OF WW3 AND THE YO YO CROWD IS ONES THAT BELIEVE AT THE END OF THE TRIB YOU GET RAPTURED UP AND RIGHT BACK DOWN TO EARTH WITH JESUS.AND THIS YO YO CROWD WILL SEE ALL 3 BILLION DEAD IN WORLD WAR 3 BEFORE THEY GET RAPTURED THEY BELIEVE.

SO WE CAN CLEARLY SEE WHY THE POSTY TOASTIES AND THE YO YO CROWD ARE MOSTLY THE CONSPIRACY THEORY CROWD ALSO.BECAUSE IF YOU BELIEVE YOUR GOING THREW MARTIAL LAW-BEING KILLED BY THE SO CALLED NEW WORLD ORDER CROWD AND WHO EVER ELSE.AND TAKEN TO FEMA CAMPS TO BE KILLED. AND NO HOPE OF A PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE.OF COURSE YOUR GOING TO BE SUCKED OUT OF YOUR MONEY AND YOU WILL BE HOARDING GUNS-FOOD AND BUILDING BUNKERS SO USE WON'T BE KILLED DURING THE ANTICHRIST OR EUROPEAN UNION WORLD DICTATORS RULE ON EARTH FOR THE 7 YEARS.BUT IF USE GOTTA HOARD AND BE FRIGHTENED EVERY SECOND OF THE TRIBULATION. THINKING THE NEW WORLD ORDER WILL BE KILLING USE OFF.WHERE POSSIBLY CAN BE YOUR HOPE LIKE JESUS TOLD US.WHEN YOUR HIDDIN IN YOUR BUNKER - HIDIN WITH GUNS AND YOUR HOARDED FOOD.AND YOU WON'T BE COMING OUT FOR THE 7 YEARS UNLESS THE NWO BOMBS YOUR BUNKER AND KILLS YOU-IS MY QUESTION?

REVELATION 3:10-11
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from (NOT THROUGH THE TRIBULATION PERIOD AND 3 BILLION DEAD FROM WW3) the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world,(7 YR TRIBULATION) to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

1 THESSALONIANS 1:10
10  And to wait for his Son (KING JESUS) from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.(WE DON'T GO THREW THE 7 YR TRIB-WE GET RAPTURED BEFORE IT OCCURRS).

1 THESOLONIANS 4:18
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.(NOT SCARE PEOPLE WITH THESE WORDS,THE RAPTURE IS A COMFORT,WE WON'T GO THREW WW3 AND 3 BILLION DEAD)

SO I ASK THE POST TOASTY AND YO YO RAPTURE CONSPIRACY THEORY CROWD. WERE IS YOUR HOPE DURING THE 7 YEAR TRIBULATION PERIOD.FOR THE POST TOASTIES.WILL JESUS SOUND THE TRUMPET AT THE MID-POINT AND RAPTURE USE HOME.AND FOR THE YO YO CROWD.WILL USE MAKE IT THREW WW3 AND 3 BILLION DEAD FROM NUKES ONLY TO BE RAPTURED TO THE CLOUDS BY JESUS. THEN COME RIGHT BACK WITH JESUS TO EARTH.THESE TWO THEORIES JUST DO NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL.AND THEY ARE NOT BIBLICAL IN MY BELIEF AT ALL.
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION YET I HAVE IS THIS?

2 THESSALONIANS 2:3-12
3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man ( A LITERAL MAN,NOT JUST A SPIRITUALIZED SYSTEM OF ANTICHRIST) of sin be revealed, the son (A SON IS A MAN,NOT A SYSTEM) of perdition;(DUPLICATING JUDAS' ACTS)(BETRAYING CHRISTIANITY AND JESUS)
4  Who opposeth and exalteth himself (A MAN PROMOTES HIMSELF NOT A SYSTEM) above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5  Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6  And now ye know what withholdeth (THE HOLY SPIRIT IN CHRISTIANS) that he might be revealed in his time.(AFTER THE RAPTURE)
7  For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.(CHRISTIANS AT THE RAPTURE)
8  And then (AFTER THE RAPTURE) shall that Wicked be revealed,(WORLD DICTATOR) whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10  And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion,(THE FALSE RESURRECTION OF THE WORLD DICTATOR) that they should believe a lie:(THAT HES GOD)
12  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth,(GODS WORD) but had pleasure in unrighteousness.(SINFUL LUSTS AND DESIRES)

OK POSTY TOASTY - YO YO CONSPIRACY THEORY CROWD.HERE IS MY QUESTION. WHO OR WHAT HAS TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE THE WORLD DICTATOR CAN COME ON THE SCENE IN REVELATION CHAPTER 6:1-2.BY MY PRE-TRIB BELIEF- THE RAPTURE OCCURRS IN REVELATION 4:1-2.AND THEN IN REVELATION CHAPTER 6:1-2 THE DICTATOR COMES ON THE SCENE WITH HIM SIGNING THE 7 YEAR PEACE TREATY WITH ISRAEL - ARABS AND MANY. REVELATION 4-THE RAPTURE COMES BEFORE REVELATION 6 WHEN THE DICTATOR IS REVEALED.SO THIS PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE DOES FIT INTO PROPHECY. BUT WHO HAS TO BE TAKEN BY THE POSTY TOASTY AND YO YO CROWDS THEORIES BEFORE THE DICTATOR COMES ON THE SCENE.IS MY QUESTION?

2 THESALONIANS 2:6-8

SO POSTY TOASTY-YO YO CROWD.WHO HAS TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY LIKE THIS VERSE SAYS-SO THE WORLD LEADER CAN BE REVEALED TO THE WORLD.DO THE ONES THAT FALL FROM THE FAITH HAVE TO BE KILLED OFF BY THE NEW WORLD ORDER BEFORE THE DICTATOR COMES ON THE SCENE.AND BE TAKEN AWAY AND BE BURRIED.IS THIS THE WITHHOLDER BEFORE THE DICTATOR COMES ON THE SCENE.THIS THEORY IS COMPLETELY CRAZY.

WILL ALIENS HAVE TO COME AND MAKE AN APPEARENCE AND CLAIM THEIR YOUR PEACEFUL BROTHERS THAT WILL TEACH USE ENLIGHTENED NUTCASE THEORIES.AND THEN THEY WILL BE TAKEN.AND THEN THE WORLD DICTATOR COMES ON THE SCENE.HERES ANOTHER HOGWASH THEORY.

THIESE TWO SETS OF PEOPLE OR DEMONS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS.SO THERES NO WAY THESE TWO CROWDS WILL BE TAKEN OUT TO HEAVEN.BEFORE THE DICTATOR IS ALLOWED BY GOD TO COME ON THE SCENE.ARE THESE TWO CROWDS TAKEN TO ANOTHER PLANET LIKE CONSPIRACY THEORISTS BELIEVE.TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY.SO THE GODLESS DICTATOR CAN COME ON THE SCENE.WELL THIS IS JUST ANOTHER HOGWASH NONSENSE THEORY.BECAUSE THE GODLESS WOULD NOT HAVE TO LEAVE THE EARTH FOR THE GODLESS DICTATOR TO COME ON THE SCENE.

NO 2 THESSALONIANS TELL US THE CROWD THAT IS TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY ARE BELIEVERS.THEN THE GODLESS DICTATOR CAN COME ON THE SCENE AND CALL HIMSELF GOD.AND THE GODLESS WILL GLADLY BELIEVE THIS LEADER.THE GODLESS CROWD WILL NOT BE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE THE GODLESS DICTATOR COMES ON THE SCENE.THIS IS A REDICULAS BELIEF.THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE THE DICTATOR COMES ON THE SCENE.HAVE TO BE A CROWD THAT WOULD NEVER CALL A MAN GOD.BUT ONLY JESUS GOD. WHO WAS ALL HUMAN AND ALL GOD.SO THE ONLY CROWD THAT CAN BE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY FIRST.IS THE CHRISTIANS WHO ARE LEAD BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS IN THE CHRISTIAN.AND ITS THE CHRISTIANS THAT ARE AGAINST GODLESSNESS.SO ITS THE CHRISTIANS THAT HAVE TO BE TAKEN FROM THE EARTH.SO THE GODLESS-LAWLESS WORLD DICTATOR CAN BE REVEALED TO THE WHOLE EARTH TO DO HIS SATANIC DEEDS TILL JESUS DESTROYS HIM WITH THE BRIGHTNESS OF HIS COMING AT THE END OF THE 7 YEAR TRIBULATION PERIOD.

SO BY THE BIBLE THE PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE IS THE TRUTH.AND THE POSTY TOASTY-YO YO THEORIES CAN BE FOR THE CONSPIRACY THEORY-END OF THE WORLD-HOARD YOUR GUNS-FOOD CROWD.THE PRE-TRIB RAPTURE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT GIVES US HOPE WE GO TO JESUS FIRST.AND NOT GO THREW THE 7 YEARS OF HELL ON EARTH.

1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

JOHN 14:2-3
2  In my Father’s house are many mansions:(JESUS MADE MANSIONS FOR US CHRISTIANS TO LIVE IN WITH HIM FOREVER ON EARTH) if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,(AT THE RAPTURE IN THE CLOUDS) and receive you unto myself;(CHRISTIANS) that where I am,(HEAVEN) there ye may be also.(HEAVEN,THEN AT THE END OF THE 7 YR TRIB.LITERALLY BACK TO EARTH WITH JESUS FOREVER)

WE KNOW FOR SURE THE RAPTURE COMES BEFORE THE JUDGEMENTS BECAUSE WE MEET JESUS IN REV 4:1 AND THE JUDGEMENTS START IN REV 6:1.AND REV 3:10 JUST BEFORE 4:1 SAYS WE WILL NOT GO THROUGHT THE 7 YRS OF HELL ON THE WHOLE EARTH.HOW DO WE KNOW FOR SURE-LETS LOOK AT REV 11 AND SEE HOW THE 2 WITNESSES GET RAPTURED TO HEAVEN.AND THE PRECISE WORDING GOD USES.

REV 11:7-8,11-12
7 And when they(MOSES-ELIJAH) shall have finished their testimony,(AT THE 3 1/2 YR MARK OF THE TRIB) the beast(WORLD DICTATOR) that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt,(JERUSALEM) where also our Lord was crucified.
11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12 And they(ELIJSH-MOSES) heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither.(REV 4:1 WE KNOW IS THE RAPTURE FOR SURE) And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.(RAPTURED)

WHAT DOES GOD SAY TO ELIJAH AND MOSES(COME UP HITHER)AND REV 4:1 GOD SAYS TO THE CHRISTIANS(COME UP HITHER).NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.THE RAPTURE OCCURS(REV 4:1) BEFORE THE 21 JUDGEMENTS OF REVELATION CH 6-19

REVELATION 4:1-2
1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

26  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.(THE CHRISTIANS ALIVE AT THE TIME OF THE RAPTURE NEVER DIE,OUR BODIES AUTOMATICALLY GET CHANGED TO NEVER DYING BODIES) Believest thou this?(THE CHRISTIANS ALIVE ON EARTH AT THE TIME OF THE RAPTURE NEVER HAVE A PHYSICAL DEATH LIKE THE VERSE SAYS)

1 CORINTHIANS 15:51-55
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Abbas slams Israeli ‘genocide,’ makes new UN statehood bid-Palestinian leader tells UN he’s is prepping draft Security Council resolution to ensure Palestinian statehood, ‘international protection’-By Ilan Ben Zion September 26, 2014, 7:49 pm 7-THE TIMES OF ISRAEL
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday railed against Israel’s “absolute war crimes” and “genocide” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and said he’d seek a UN resolution to end Israel’s presence in the Palestinian territories.Speaking before the UN General Assembly, Abbas said 2014 was meant to be a year of international solidarity with the Palestinians, but blamed Israel for choosing to make it “a year of a new war of genocide perpetrated against the Palestinian people.” He didn’t go so far as to say he’d pursue prosecuting Israeli leaders at the International Criminal Court, however.Abbas condemned the “unprecedented” destruction in the Gaza Strip following the 50-day conflict fought between Israel and terrorist groups in the Palestinian enclave and charged that Israel committed “absolute war crimes carried out before the eyes and ears of the entire world.”The Hamas Health Ministry reports that over 2,100 Gazans were killed by Israel during Operation Protective Edge, but Israel contends that roughly half that figure were combatants. Israel lost 66 soldiers and six civilians. During the 50-day conflict, Gaza-based terrorist groups fired at least 3,360 rockets into Israel, according to IDF figures.“This war came after long, difficult negotiations for more than eight months under the auspices of the United States and the efforts of [United States] President Barack Obama and tenacious efforts of his Secretary of State John Kerry,” Abbas said, referring to the nearly nine-month negotiations which ended at the end of April without result.“We engaged in this endeavor with open minds, in good faith and with a positive spirit and engaged with the efforts of the American administration in the most constructive manner, and we put forth our firm positions based on the resolutions of international legitimacy, which receive the overwhelming support of the nations of the world.”Whereas the Palestinians “genuinely respected all of our commitments and understandings” and gave the negotiations a chance, however, Abbas charged that Israel “did not miss the opportunity to undermine the chance for peace” and “once again failed the test of peace.”Abbas was deeply pessimistic about prospects for progress in peace talks with Israel in their current framework, saying that “it is impossible… to return to the cycle of negotiations that failed to deal with the substance of the matter and the fundamental question,” namely, the establishment of a Palestinian state inside the pre-1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.“There is neither credibility nor seriousness in negotiations in which Israel predetermines the results via its settlement activities and the occupation’s brutality,” he said, adding that it was impossible to “repeat methods that have proven futile or to continue with approaches that have repeatedly failed and require comprehensive review and radical correction.”“Israel refuses to end its occupation of the State of Palestine since 1967, but rather seeks its continuation and entrenchment, and rejects the Palestinian state and refuses to find a just solution to the plight of the Palestine refugees,” Abbas said. He added that Israel envisions “isolated ghettos for Palestinians” and repeatedly accused Israel of racist and apartheid policies and aspirations.“Israel has confirmed during the negotiations that it rejects making peace with its victims, the Palestinian people,” he said. “The time has come to end this settlement occupation.” He said the Palestinians “are actually the ones who need immediate international protection, which we are seeking through international organizations.”The PA president said that his government and the Arab Group are preparing a draft Security Council resolution which would “push forward the efforts to achieve peace” and “correct the deficiency of the previous efforts to achieve peace by affirming the goal of ending the Israeli occupation and achieving the two-state solution” within a timeframe which he didn’t specify.Earlier reports said he would delineate a three-year timeline for the Israeli withdrawal. At the same time, Abbas said this unilateral move at the United Nations would “be linked to the immediate resumption of negotiations between Palestine and Israel to demarcate the borders, reach a detailed and comprehensive agreement and draft a peace treaty between them.”Tying in one of the hot button issues at the General Assembly, the threat posed by the Islamic State to international security, Abbas said that confronting such terrorist groups “such as ‘ISIL’ and others that have no basis whatsoever in the tolerant Islamic religion” requires both military confrontation, condemnations and a strategy to eliminate its economic and ideological support. He went so far as to connect the fight against the Islamic State to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying “it requires… bringing an end to the Israeli occupation of our country.”Immediately following Abbas’s speech, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said in a statement that the PA president demonstrated that “he doesn’t want and cannot be a partner for a logical diplomatic resolution.”“It’s no coincidence that he joined a [national consensus] government with Hamas,” the foreign minister said. “Abbas complements Hamas when he deals with diplomatic terrorism and slanders Israel with false accusations.”“So long as he’s chairman of the Palestinian Authority he will continue the conflict. He is the continuation of [late Palestinian leader Yasser] Arafat through different means,” Liberman said.

Palestinian president urges 'firm timetable' to end occupation-Reuters-By Michelle Nichols and Rodrigo Campos-SEPT 26,14-YAHOONEWS

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - There is no value in peace talks with Israel unless the goal is ending its 47-year occupation of the Palestinian territories within a "firm timetable", Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told the United Nations General Assembly on Friday."It's high time for this settlement occupation to end now," Abbas told the 193-member world body, which overwhelming gave the Palestinians de facto statehood in 2012 by upgrading their U.N. status to "non-member state" from "entity."Abbas said the Palestinians and the Arab Group have been working on a draft U.N. Security Council resolution "to push forward the efforts to achieve peace." Abu Rdainah, a spokesman for Abbas, said Ramallah wanted a council resolution to call for an end to the occupation within "two to three years."Security Council diplomats said on Friday that Jordan, one of 15 members, had not yet circulated that draft resolution on behalf of the Palestinians and the Arab Group. The council has already been negotiating for several weeks another Jordan-drafted resolution on an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire in late August that ended a 50-day Gaza war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.Britain, France and Germany have proposed including in that draft resolution the creation of an international ceasefire monitoring and verification mechanism. Diplomats say such a mission could be established by the U.N. or European Union.Abbas said on Friday it was "impossible" to return to a cycle of negotiations with no substance."There is no meaning or value in negotiations for which the agreed objective is not ending the Israeli occupation and achieving the independence of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital on the entire Palestinian Territory occupied in the 1967 war," Abbas said."There is no value in negotiations which are not linked to a firm timetable for the implementation of this goal," he said.Israel accepts the idea of a "two-state solution" of an independent and democratic Palestinian state living alongside Israel, but has not accepted the 1967 borders as the basis for final negotiations, citing security and other concerns.Israel and the Palestinians agreed on Tuesday to resume talks late next month on cementing the Gaza ceasefire. The conflict between Hamas and Israel in July and August devastated some Gaza districts and killed more than 2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, according to the Gaza health ministry.Sixty-seven Israeli soldiers and six civilians in Israel were also killed. Israel began the offensive on July 8 with the declared aim of halting cross-border rocket salvoes by Hamas and other militant groups.(Additional reporting by Ali Sawafta in Ramallah; Editing by Grant McCool)

HERES THE HATE THAT ABBAS SPEWED AT THE UN YESTERDAY.

Full text of Abbas speech to UN-Palestinian Authority president’s address to the UN General Assembly on September 26, 2014-By Times of Israel staff September 26, 2014, 7:54 pm

At the outset, I wish to extend our sincere congratulations upon your election as President of the United Nations General Assembly this session and to express our gratitude and appreciation to H.E. Mr. John Ashe for his able leadership of the past session.Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,In this year, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Israel has chosen to make it a year of a new war of genocide perpetrated against the Palestinian people. In this year, in which this Assembly, on behalf of the countries and peoples of the world, conveyed the world’s yearning and determination to realize a just peace that achieves freedom and independence for the Palestinian people in their State of Palestine alongside Israel in order to rectify the historic injustice inflicted on the Palestinian people in Al-Nakba of 1948, the occupying Power has chosen to defy the entire world by launching its war on Gaza, by which its jets and tanks brutally assassinated lives and devastated the homes, schools and dreams of thousands of Palestinian children, women and men and in reality destroying the remaining hopes for peace.Ladies and Gentlemen,I have addressed you in this hall during similar days in 2012 and cautioned that the colonial occupying Power was preparing for a new Nakba against the Palestinian people, and I appealed to you: Prevent a new Nakba. Support the establishment of a free and independent State of Palestine now.I returned to this same hall two months later as Palestine was healing her wounds and her people were burying beloved martyred children, women and men after yet another war waged then against the Gaza Strip, and that day I stated: certainly there was not a single person in the world needing the loss of the lives of tens of Palestinian children in order to confirm that Israel insists on occupation; and there was also no need for thousands of deadly raids and tons of explosives to remind the world that there is an occupation that must end and that there is a people that must be freed.I also said at that time: there was no need for a new devastating war in order to realize the absence of peace. And, here we are again today. Here we find ourselves, full of grief, regret and bitterness, raising the same long-standing conclusions and questions after a new war, the third war waged by the racist occupying State in five years against Gaza, this small, densely-populated and precious part of our country. The difference today is that the scale of this genocidal crime is larger, and that the list of martyrs, especially children, is longer, as well as lists of the wounded and disabled, and that dozens of families have been completely decimated. The difference today is that approximately half a million people were displaced from their homes, and that the number of homes, schools, hospitals, public buildings, residential buildings, mosques, factories and even cemeteries destroyed is unprecedented. And, the difference today is that the devastation caused by this recent aggression is unmatched in modern times, as confirmed by a witness, the honorable Commissioner-General of UNRWA.

Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,This last war against Gaza was a series of absolute war crimes carried out before the eyes and ears of the entire world, moment by moment, in a manner that makes it inconceivable that anyone today can claim that they did not realize the magnitude and horror of the crime. And, it is inconceivable that some are unable to characterize this situation in real terms and that they suffice with simply declaring their support for Israel’s right to self-defense without regard for the fate of the thousands of victims of our people, ignoring a simple fact that we remind them of today: that the life of a Palestinian is as precious as the life of any other human being. We must also assume that no one will wonder anymore why extremism is rising and why the culture of peace is losing ground and why the efforts to achieve it are collapsing.Yet, we believe – and hope – that no one is trying to aid the occupation this time in its impunity or its attempts to evade accountability for its crimes.Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,In the name of Palestine and its people, I affirm here today: we will not forget and we will not forgive, and we will not allow war criminals to escape punishment.I affirm in front of you that the Palestinian people hold steadfast to their legitimate right to defend themselves against the Israeli war machine and to their legitimate right to resist this colonial, racist Israeli occupation. At the same time, I affirm that our grief, trauma and anger will not for one moment make us abandon our humanity, our values and our ethics; we will always maintain our respect and commitment to international law, international humanitarian law and the international consensus, and we will maintain the traditions of our national struggle established by the Palestinian fedayeen and to which we committed ourselves since the onset of the Palestinian revolution in early 1965.Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,Amidst a torrent of massacres and storms of massive destruction, we witnessed the peoples of the world gathering in huge demonstrations on the streets of many cities declaring their condemnation of the aggression and occupation and their support of freedom for Palestine. And we witnessed the overwhelming majority of countries on the various continents declaring the same noble position and rushing to provide all kinds of support and assistance to our people. And we witnessed the qualitative and quantitative broadening of activities of the international grassroots boycott campaign against Israel’s policies of occupation, apartheid and colonial settlement, especially among academia, cultural, student and youth groups. Thus, in the name of Palestine, we pay tribute to everyone who chose to stand with human values and demanded freedom, justice and peace. All of these manifestations of true solidarity constituted an important message to those who were facing genocide in Gaza, helping them to feel they felt that they were not alone.Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,The recent Israeli war confirmed on the ground the crux of what the Israeli government had been declaring in the closed rooms of negotiation. This war came after long, difficult negotiations for more than eight months under the auspices of the United States and the efforts of President Barack Obama and tenacious efforts of his Secretary of State John Kerry. We engaged in this endeavor with open minds, in good faith and with a positive spirit and engaged with the efforts of the American administration in the most constructive manner, and we put forth our firm positions based on the resolutions of international legitimacy, which receive the overwhelming support of the nations of the world. And, we genuinely respected all of our commitments and understandings. Even as we watched the ongoing and escalating Israeli violations, we exercised unimaginable self-restraint, silencing our cries and tending to our own wounds in order to give the American efforts the best possible chance for success. However, and as usual, the Israeli government did not miss the opportunity to undermine the chance for peace.Throughout the months of negotiations, settlement construction, land confiscations, home demolitions, killing and arrest campaigns, and forced displacement in the West Bank continued unabated and the unjust blockade on the Gaza Strip was tightened. The occupation’s campaign specifically targeted the City of Jerusalem and its inhabitants, attempting to artificially alter the spirit, identity and character of the Holy City, focusing on Al-Aqsa Mosque, threatening grave consequences. At the same time, racist and armed gangs of settlers persisted with their crimes against the Palestinian people, the land, mosques, churches, properties and olive trees. As usual, the Israeli government once again failed the test of peace. It breached an agreement with the American administration regarding the release of a group of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation’s jails – and we continue to insist on releasing all of them. And, when confronted with simple questions in the direct negotiations or through the American mediator, it did not hesitate to reveal its true positions:Israel refuses to end its occupation of the State of Palestine since 1967, but rather seeks its continuation and entrenchment, and rejects the Palestinian state and refuses to find a just solution to the plight of the Palestine refugees.

The future proposed by the Israeli government for the Palestinian people is at best isolated ghettos for Palestinians on fragmented lands, without borders and without sovereignty over its airspace, water and natural resources, which will be under the subjugation of the racist settlers and army of occupation, and at worst will be a most abhorrent form of Apartheid.Israel has confirmed during the negotiations that it rejects making peace with its victims, the Palestinian people. This has all been done concurrent with an attempt to give a religious nature to the conflict and with the rising and rampant racism in the Israeli political and media discourse and its entrenchment in the school curriculum and in a series of laws and practices of the occupation and its settlers. This culture of racism, incitement and hatred was glaringly manifested in the despicable, appalling crime committed months ago by fascist settlers, who abducted the young Jerusalemite boy Mohammed Abu Khdeir, burnt him alive and killed him.Over the past years, the occupying Power has also pursued a policy aimed at deliberately weakening the Palestinian National Authority to undermine it and, in essence, to fully negate its role. The occupation targeted the work we have been relentlessly undertaking to establish the foundations of the State of Palestine that we want: a sovereign and independent State living in peace and building bridges of mutual cooperation with its neighbors; that respects commitments, obligations and agreements; that strengthens the values of citizenship, equality, non-discrimination, the rule of law, human rights and pluralism; that deepens the Palestinian enlightened traditions of tolerance, coexistence and non-exclusion; that strengthens the culture of peace; that promotes the role of women; that establishes effective administration committed to the standards of good governance; and that cares for the needs and interests of its people. The occupation has, and continues to, to strike at this effort because it is the antithesis of its settlement policies and because it wants to destroy the chance for the realization of the Palestinian existence in an independent State within the framework of the two-State solution. When our efforts to end the internal division through national dialogue succeeded a few months ago and we prepared to restore the unity of our land, nation and institutions and formed the national consensus government and began the process to lead to the holding of presidential and legislative elections, all countries of the world welcomed this achievement, with the exception of Israel, which has constantly sought to fragment our land and our national unity.Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,And now, where do we go from here? The idea that it is possible to simply return to the past patterns of work, which repeatedly failed, is naive at best and, in any case, is wrong, as it ignores the fact that it is no longer acceptable, nor possible, to repeat methods that have proven futile or to continue with approaches that have repeatedly failed and require comprehensive review and radical correction. It is impossible, and I repeat – it is impossible – to return to the cycle of negotiations that failed to deal with the substance of the matter and the fundamental question. There is neither credibility nor seriousness in negotiations in which Israel predetermines the results via its settlement activities and the occupation’s brutality. There is no meaning or value in negotiations for which the agreed objective is not ending the Israeli occupation and achieving the independence of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital on the entire Palestinian Territory occupied in the 1967 war. And, there is no value in negotiations which are not linked to a firm timetable for the implementation of this goal. The time has come to end this settlement occupation.Palestine refuses to have the right to freedom of her people, who are subjected to the terrorism by the racist occupying Power and its settlers, remain hostage to Israel’s security conditions. The people of Palestine are actually the ones who need immediate international protection, which we are seeking through international organizations, and who are in need of the security and peace that they are missing more than any other people, and the children of Palestine are worthy of the world’s efforts to ensure that their childhood, dreams and lives will not be devastated once again. It is time for the chapters of this prolonged, ongoing tragedy to be closed. Those who were uprooted from their warm homes, good land and beautiful country in Al-Nakba 66 years ago, pushed into the misery of exile and life as refugees and now being forced into new waves of expulsion or onto the ships of death in the world’s seas, are in need of assurances that they will not be displaced from their homes again, that their homes will not be destroyed again, and that they will not spend their lives waiting for the explosion of a new war.It is time for this long tragedy to end.We will not accept to forever be the ones being demanded to prove their good intentions by making concessions at the expense of their rights and to remain silent as they are killed and their land is stolen, and to understand the conditions of the other party and the importance of preserving its coalition government, while it entrenches its occupation. We are exhausted of the additional tests we must undergo to prove our efficiency, competence and eligibility to earn our natural, simple right to live a normal life and our inherent right to expect a stable and ordinary tomorrow, to dream about more beautiful days, and for our youth to be able to plan their coming days and years safely in peace and freedom over our land, like other peoples of the world. The time has come for a real, just peace to prevail in the land of peace.Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,We, and all the Arab countries, have constantly cautioned about the disastrous consequences of the continuation of the Israeli occupation and the denial of freedom and independence for the people of Palestine. We have repeatedly draw attention to the fact that allowing Israel to act as a state above the law with impunity and absolving it of any accountability or punishment for its policies, aggression and defiance of the international will and legitimacy has absolutely provided fertile ground and an environment conducive for the growth of extremism, hatred and terrorism in our region.Confronting the terrorism that plagues our region by groups – such as “ISIL” and others that have no basis whatsoever in the tolerant Islamic religion or with humanity and are committing brutal and heinous atrocities – requires much more than military confrontation. It is an urgent matter that requires much more than condemnations and declarations of positions, which are of course necessary. What is primarily needed is a comprehensive, credible strategy to dry out the sources of terrorism and eradicate its roots in all political, intellectual, economic and social spheres in our region. It requires the creation of solid foundations for a reasonable consensus that makes the fight against all forms of terrorism in any place everywhere a collective task that is undertaken by the alliance of nations, peoples and civilizations. It requires, in this context and as a priority, bringing an end to the Israeli occupation of our country, which constitutes in its practices and perpetuation, an abhorrent form of state terrorism and a breeding ground for incitement, tension and hatred.Mr. President,At this moment in which we are still suffering from the horrors of war, we face a formidable challenge to reconstruct what has been destroyed by the occupation. At the invitation of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Norway, which we deeply appreciate, the city of Cairo will host next month an international conference for the relief and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. Our government will present comprehensive reports to the conference on the losses inflicted by the aggression on the different sectors of life, and it will provide details of the plans and programs that will be rapidly implemented and supervised in the Gaza Strip to meet immediate relief needs and the requirements of reconstruction, in full coordination with United Nations agencies and bodies. While we reiterate our appreciation and gratitude to all countries and organizations that rushed to provide assistance to the Palestinian people during and after the war, we are confident that brotherly and friendly countries will not waver in supporting support the plans and programs we will present and that the conference will achieve practical results that fulfill the expectations and needs of the victims of this aggression. We reaffirm here that the primary prerequisite for the success of all these plans and efforts is an end to the ongoing Israeli blockade that has for years suffocated the Gaza Strip and turned it into the largest prison in the world for nearly two million Palestinian citizens. At the same time, we affirm our commitment and the necessity to consolidate the cease-fire through negotiations under the auspices of Egypt. However, in order to avert repeating the cycle of war and cycle reconstruction every two or three years, it is imperative to focus on the fundamental issue and starting point, which is that the suffering of Gaza will not be completely alleviated except by ending the occupation and achieving the independence of the State of Palestine.

Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen,During the past two weeks, Palestine and the Arab Group undertook intensive contacts with the various regional groups in the United Nations to prepare for the introduction of a draft resolution to be adopted by the United Nations Security Council on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to push forward the efforts to achieve peace. This endeavor reaffirms our commitment to achieve a just peace through a negotiated solution and our adoption of a diplomatic and political effort through United Nations bodies. This endeavor is inspired by and based fully on the spirit and provisions of the many resolutions you have approved in the General Assembly and those adopted by the Security Council, which have set the foundations for a lasting solution and a just peace. This endeavor aspires to correct the deficiency of the previous efforts to achieve peace by affirming the goal of ending the Israeli occupation and achieving the two-State solution, of the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, over the entire territory occupied in 1967, alongside the State of Israel and reaching a just and agreed upon solution to the plight of the Palestine refugees on the basis of resolution 194, with a specific timeframe for the implementation of these objectives as stipulated in the Arab Peace Initiative. This will be linked to the immediate resumption of negotiations between Palestine and Israel to demarcate the borders, reach a detailed and comprehensive agreement and draft a peace treaty between them.Ladies and Gentlemen,We are confident that this endeavor will receive broad and full support by those who are committed to ensuring that our country will not witness new wars and atrocities, by those who wish to support a campaign to combat terrorism, by those who believe that it is necessary to act expediently to rectify the historical injustice inflicted by Al-Nakba on the Palestinian people, and by those who wish to see peace prevail in the land of the monotheistic religions. The adoption of this resolution will affirm what you strived to realize in this year is the International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, who will continue their struggle and steadfastness and will rise brave and strong from the rubble and destruction. We, as our poet Mahmoud Darwish said: “are infected with an incurable disease, that is hope, and we love life if we are given the chance for it”.Mr. President Ladies and Gentlemen,There is an occupation that must end now. There is a people that must be freed immediately. The hour of independence of the State of Palestine has arrived.

Palestinians to seek UN resolution Friday on Israeli withdrawal-Palestinian Authority will turn to Security Council after Abbas’s address to UNGA, demanding pullout in 3 years to pre-67 lines-By Times of Israel staff and AP September 25, 2014, 11:37 pm 27

The Palestinian Authority is set to ask the UN Security Council to vote Friday on a resolution demanding the Israeli withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines in a timeframe of three years, Israel Radio reported Thursday.According to the report, the resolution will be submitted following PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s speech at the UN General Assembly Friday evening.Earlier Thursday, rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah, headed by Abbas, reached a “comprehensive” agreement for the return of their unity government in Gaza after two days of talks in Cairo, negotiators from both sides said.Earlier this week, Abbas met with US Secretary of State John Kerry who reiterated Washington’s opposition to the UN initiative and indicated that the US will likely veto the resolution. Kerry emphasized the US’s support for a two-state solution and said the only way to a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was through negotiations.Kerry’s high-profile bid to hammer out a full peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinian Authority collapsed spectacularly in April amid bitter recriminations on both sides, despite more than a year of shuttle diplomacy.Abbas has said a UN rejection of the resolution would prompt him to seek membership in international institutions and agencies. Aides said that would include the International Criminal Court, opening the door to war crimes charges against Israel for its military actions in Gaza and Jewish settlement construction on West Bank land the Palestinians want for a future state. The recent Gaza war has weakened Abbas domestically, with Hamas enjoying a surge of popularity among Palestinians for fighting Israel. He is under pressure at home to come up with a new political strategy after his repeated but failed attempts to establish a Palestinian state through US-mediated negotiations with Israel.Abbas adviser Nabil Abu Rdeneh has said the Palestinian leader would present a new strategy his UN speech. In recent weeks, Abbas and his aides have hinted at the outlines.Under the plan, Abbas would ask the UN Security Council to issue a binding resolution, with a specific date for the Israeli withdrawal to the 1967 lines. The West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967, were recognized by the UN General Assembly in 2012 as making up a state of Palestine. The US has urged Abbas not to turn to the Security Council, but has not offered an alternative, said a Palestinian official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to discuss internal deliberations with the media. Abbas used meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly to gauge international support for his plan, said the official.AFP contributed to this report.

PM praises defeat of Arab-backed resolution on Israel at IAEA-Netanyahu says vote a rejection of Arab states’ attempt to isolate Israel, distract from Iran nukes; FM hails ‘victory for Israeli diplomacy’-By Times of Israel staff and AP September 25, 2014, 9:54 pm 23

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the decision Thursday by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) member states to reject a resolution circulated by Arab countries criticizing Israel over its alleged nuclear arsenal, and urging it to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty.Nations meeting at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s general conference voted 58-45 against the resolution on Thursday, while 27 abstained.“The vote is a rejection of a repeated attempt by Arab states to condemn and isolate Israel at the IAEA and to distract the international community from the pressing problems affecting the Middle East, first and foremost Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu said, according to Ynet. The prime minister’s remarks followed a similar statement by Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman who also hailed the IAEA decision.Liberman said the defeat of the bid was a “victory for Israeli diplomacy.”In a Facebook message posted Thursday, the foreign minister warned the Arab countries who submitted the resolution to think about what the regional situations would be if Syria has suceeded in completing the construction of a nuclear reactor — allegedly bombed by Israel in 2007 — which could now possibly be in the hands of the Islamic State or the Nusra Front.Backed by 18 Arab states, including Syria, the resolution expressed concern “about the Israeli nuclear capabilities,” urging Israel to join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and put its nuclear facilities under international oversight. Israel has never acknowledged that it possesses nuclear weapons. On Wednesday, Arab countries circulated the resolution that singled out Israel. The draft echoed previous such resolutions at annual meetings of the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency.
Separately, the UN conference voted 117-0, with 13 abstentions, in favor of a resolution submitted by Egypt that called on “all states in the region” to join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

U.N. nuclear assembly rejects Arab bid to pressure Israel-Reuters-SEPT 25,14-YAHOONEWS

VIENNA (Reuters) - Member states of the U.N. nuclear agency rejected on Thursday an Arab resolution criticizing Israel over its assumed atomic arsenal, in a diplomatic victory for Western states that opposed the initiative.Arab states had submitted the non-binding resolution - which called on Israel to join a global anti-nuclear weapons pact - to the annual meeting of the 162-nation International Atomic Energy Agency, in part to signal their frustration at the lack of progress to move toward a Middle East free of nuclear weapons. The United States and its allies argued that the resolution, if adopted, would be counterproductive. Fifty-eight countries voted against the text and 45 states for. Other countries either abstained or were absent.(Reporting by Fredrik Dahl; Editing by Robin Pomeroy)

Hamas, Fatah announce return of unity government to Gaza-Following two-day talks in Cairo, Palestinian officials declare breakthrough, say ‘comprehensive’ agreement reached-By AFP, AP and Times of Israel staff September 25, 2014, 4:09 pm 10

CAIRO – Rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah reached a “comprehensive” agreement Thursday for the return of their unity government in Gaza after two days of talks in Cairo, negotiators from both sides said.“Fatah and Hamas have reached a comprehensive agreement for the unity government to return to the Gaza Strip,” Jibril Rajoub of Fatah told AFP.Senior Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk and Fatah’s head of delegation, Azam al-Ahmad, confirmed that an agreement had been reached.Meanwhile, a senior Palestinian official said President Mahmoud Abbas’s government, which runs the West Bank, will press forward with a United Nations bid to set a deadline for Israel to end its occupation of lands captured in the 1967 war, after efforts to enlist American support for the effort ran aground.“Work with the Americans about the possibility of joint action in the Security Council has reached an impasse,” said chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, adding that he expects the Palestinian delegation in New York to propose a UN resolution on the issue within three weeks. The purpose of the resolution is to set the groundwork for the formal establishment of a Palestinian state. The Palestinian rivals had set up a unity government of independents in June but it never took hold, with PA President Abbas accusing Hamas of running a “parallel” administration as de facto ruler in the Gaza Strip.Hamas in turn accuses Abbas’s Palestinian Authority, headquartered in Ramallah, of not paying its 45,000 employees in Gaza. The two-day talks, which began on Wednesday, come after a joint Palestinian delegation and Israel agreed to resume separate indirect talks in late October to thrash out a lasting truce after this summer’s 50-day Gaza war between Hamas and Israel.Officials said the two Palestinian factions also agreed that the Palestinian Authority will manage Gaza crossings to allow construction material and humanitarian aid to pass ahead of an international donor conference in October. The talks between the two sides were crucial for internal Palestinian divisions to be set aside and to agree on a unified strategy during talks with Israeli negotiators in October.Under Egyptian mediation, Israel and the Palestinians agreed on August 26 to a ceasefire that ended the July-August war which claimed the lives of over 2,000 Palestinians — half of them combatants, Israel says — and 72 Israelis, including a four-year-old child. The conflict ended with an agreement to hold future talks on Palestinian demands to end an eight-year blockade of Gaza — imposed by Israel and Egypt mainly to prevent weapons smuggling –and exchange prisoners in Israeli jails for the remains of two Israeli soldiers killed in Gaza.

As West strikes IS, nations brace for retribution-States in US coalition including UK, France, Netherlands, prepare for revenge attacks, increase security in public spaces-By Times of Israel staff, AP and AFP September 25, 2014, 4:57 pm 2

As a US-led coalition continued to strike Islamic State positions in Iraq and Syria Thursday, Western nations braced for Islamists’ retribution, whether in their own territory or abroad. For Western leaders, one of the most worrying aspects of the Islamic State group has been its strong appeal to radicalized Muslims throughout the world, who have flocked to the Middle East to support the terrorist organization and who could pose a threat to their home countries upon their return.US intelligence officials estimate some 12,000 foreigners have traveled to Syria and Iraq to join the Islamic State group, which has as many as 31,000 fighters. As the bombings of Islamic State targets intensified, so, apparently, did fears of retaliatory terror attacks by IS or its sympathizers. In Turkey, the US Embassy issued a security warning late Wednesday, urging US citizens to be vigilant against possible terrorist attacks. The embassy said there was no information about any specific threats but the possibility of terrorist attacks in Turkey “remains high.”In the Netherlands, soldiers have been told not to wear uniforms on public transport, a defense ministry spokeswoman said Thursday, after a Dutch jihadist in Syria called for attacks against them.“Last night we advised military personnel not to travel in uniform on public transport,” Marloes Visser told AFP Thursday. “There have been several statements made earlier this week which we are monitoring,” she said, declining to elaborate. On Tuesday, a Syria-based Dutch jihadist fighter calling himself Muhajiri Shaam called for action against the Netherlands following US airstrikes. Shaam called in an online video for jihadists to “stand up and carry out a strong, firm act against the Dutch state” for “supporting the United States.”In the UK, police arrested nine people in London early Thursday on suspicion of encouraging terrorism and belonging to and supporting a banned organization. Officials said the arrests “are part of an ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism and are not in response to any immediate public safety risk.”Meanwhile Islamic State jihadists seized and set fire to a cement factory in Syria owned by French construction materials giant Lafarge, causing damage to the facility, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Thursday. It was unclear whether their actions were in response to France’s strikes on IS targets in Iraq in recent days.France carried out a fresh round of airstrikes in Iraq Thursday as it renewed its determination to fight IS jihadists after the beheading of hostage Herve Gourdel by an Algerian group allied with IS.President Francois Hollande pledged “determination, composure and vigilance” in the face of jihadi threats at a cabinet meeting and announced that flags nationwide would be flown at half-mast for three days from Friday to mourn the loss of the 55-year-old mountaineer.“Faced with this threat, we need national unity,” he told the meeting, according to government spokesman Stephane Le Foll, who also announced France had carried out airstrikes in restive Iraq on Thursday morning — the second in the space of a week.France also said Thursday it would increase security in public places.“Preventive measures against the risk of terrorism will be strengthened at public sites and on transport,” a statement from the French presidency said.Though France has so far only carried out attacks in Iraq, French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian seemed to open the door to possible action in neighboring Syria, telling French radio on Thursday it was “a question that had to be asked.” Nevertheless, the minister stressed it was “an opportunity that is not on the table today. We have an important task to carry out in Iraq.”Earlier this week, Australian police shot dead a terror suspect after he stabbed two officers during a meeting outside a Melbourne police station. Police said he may not have acted alone. Some experts suspected the attack was inspired by the Islamic State group’s recent call to supporters to wage terrorism in their home countries.
