It will give him the power to cancel for candidates of his choosing the 2.5 year membership qualification period to be on the party list, and let him select all placements for Knesset executive positions and ministerial posts. A leading Fatah party member has compared Hamas's methods of executing and brutalizing its political opponents in Gaza to the gruesome executions carried out by the "Islamic State" terrorist group, or ISIS.In an interview with the Palestinian Authority's official TV station, Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi expressed his anger over a string of executions and shootings of Fatah members in Gaza during Operation Protective Edge, and said the "unity deal" between Hamas and the Fatah-run Palestinian Authority was "a mistake."Prior to his interview, which was translated by MEMRI (Middle East Media Research Institute), Al-Awda TV aired footage from an interview with a Fatah member from Gaza who said he was maimed by Hamas gunmen for leaving his home after being put under house arrest."I was told that I was under house arrest - I was forbidden to leave home - for reasons unknown to me," the man, who was lying on a hospital bed with his wounded legs under a sheet. His identity was hidden for obvious security reasons.He said that despite that fact he went outside "but stayed close to home. I didn't go far away.""All of a sudden, a car with three men stopped. They got out and told us to stay where we were," he recalled. "They asked me my name, and I told them, and then all three of them opened fire at me."His story matches dozens of other accounts by Fatah members who say Hamas used the fog of war to settle political scores with its rivals.Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas has spoken out against the attacks on several occasions, most recently in an interview last week. But Tirawi was distinctly less diplomatic."I do not believe that we can keep quiet about what was done to our people in Gaza," he said, blasting Hamas for what he later described as the "nightmarish" way it was treating members of its supposed "unity government" partner, Fatah."National unity is not just an agreement that you sign," he fired."That agreement was a mistake, a mistake, a mistake. A Jerusalem-based cell of the Islamic State (also known as ISIS) has threatened to kill Twitter employees and target its offices if the social media site does not stop closing down ISIS accounts.Al Musra Al Maqdisia (The Supporters Of Jerusalem), which pledged allegiance to ISIS in February, was among several Islamic State-linked groups and Twitter users to encourage "lone-wolves" to attack Twitter offices in retaliation for hampering jihadi PR efforts, and specifically threatened to "bring the war" the the company's central headquarters in San Francisco, the Vocative website reported.Using the hashtag "#TheConcept OfLone WolfAttacks", one tweet declared: "The time has arrived to respond to Twitter's management by directly attacking their employees and physically assassinating them!! Those who will carry this out are the sleepers cells of death."Another read: "Twitter management should know that if they do not stop their campaign in the virtual world, we will bring the war to them in the real world on the ground." Ironically, the account used to post the tweets has now been suspended by Twitter.The Islamic State has utilized social media as part of a slick PR campaign that has seen it eclipse its rivals in Al Qaeda among young aspiring jihadis, particularly from the English-speaking world. By doing away with the need for old-fashioned jihadi internet forums - many of which can only be accessed by recognized members - the group has managed to spread its message, including gruesome images of executions and "martyred" fighters, further than any other Islamist group, and swelled its ranks of foreign fighters.Twitter, for its part, has been playing a cat-and-mouse game with the plethora of ISIS-linked or supporting accounts, in an attempt to police its site for prohibited hate speech and incitement to violence. Although it has not succeeded in silencing ISIS's message, clearly the policy is at the very least hampering the group's Twitter "outreach" efforts enough to elicit such direct threats.The issue has been a hot topic on ISIS-linked forums, with users sharing simple methods to get round the bans such as making minor changes to usernames and Twitter handles.Currently, ISIS is not thought to have anything like the foreign network of terror cells maintained by Al Qaeda. However, the threat of so-called "lone wolf" attacks is still a very real one, security experts warn - illustrated by the deadly shooting at the Brussels Jewish Museum earlier this year, which was carried out by an ISIS member who returned from Syria.

The United States on Thursday received the backing of 10 Arab countries for a "coordinated military campaign" against Islamic State fighters, Reuters reported.According to the report, after talks in Saudi Arabia, Secretary of State John Kerry won backing from 10 Arab countries - Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and six Gulf states including rich rivals Saudi Arabia and Qatar - for a coalition to fight the Sunni militants that have seized swathes of Iraq and Syria."Arab nations play a critical role in that coalition, the leading role really across all lines of effort: military support, humanitarian aid, our work to stop the flow of illegal funds," Kerry was quoted as having told a news conference.Non-Arab Sunni power Turkey also attended the talks in Jeddah but two other major regional players - Shiite Iran and Syria itself - were excluded, a sign of the difficulty of building a coalition across the Middle East's sectarian battle lines.The Arab states agreed in a communiqué to do more to stop the flow of funds and fighters to Islamic State and help rebuild communities "brutalized" by the group, according to Reuters."The participating states agreed to do their share in the comprehensive fight against [IS], including ... as appropriate, joining in the many aspects of a coordinated military campaign against [IS]," they said.Kerry met the Arab leaders to drum up support a day after President Barack Obama announced his plans to strike fighters in Iraq and Syria.U.S. officials said Kerry also sought permission to make more use of bases in the region and fly more warplanes overhead, issues that were not mentioned in the communiqué. A Jerusalem-based cell of the Islamic State (also known as ISIS) has threatened to kill Twitter employees and target its offices if the social media site does not stop closing down ISIS accounts.Al Musra Al Maqdisia (The Supporters Of Jerusalem), which pledged allegiance to ISIS in February, was among several Islamic State-linked groups and Twitter users to encourage "lone-wolves" to attack Twitter offices in retaliation for hampering jihadi PR efforts, and specifically threatened to "bring the war" the the company's central headquarters in San Francisco, the Vocative website reported.Using the hashtag "#TheConcept OfLone WolfAttacks", one tweet declared: "The time has arrived to respond to Twitter's management by directly attacking their employees and physically assassinating them!! Those who will carry this out are the sleepers cells of death."Another read: "Twitter management should know that if they do not stop their campaign in the virtual world, we will bring the war to them in the real world on the ground." Ironically, the account used to post the tweets has now been suspended by Twitter.The Islamic State has utilized social media as part of a slick PR campaign that has seen it eclipse its rivals in Al Qaeda among young aspiring jihadis, particularly from the English-speaking world. By doing away with the need for old-fashioned jihadi internet forums - many of which can only be accessed by recognized members - the group has managed to spread its message, including gruesome images of executions and "martyred" fighters, further than any other Islamist group, and swelled its ranks of foreign fighters.Twitter, for its part, has been playing a cat-and-mouse game with the plethora of ISIS-linked or supporting accounts, in an attempt to police its site for prohibited hate speech and incitement to violence. Although it has not succeeded in silencing ISIS's message, clearly the policy is at the very least hampering the group's Twitter "outreach" efforts enough to elicit such direct threats.The issue has been a hot topic on ISIS-linked forums, with users sharing simple methods to get round the bans such as making minor changes to usernames and Twitter handles.Currently, ISIS is not thought to have anything like the foreign network of terror cells maintained by Al Qaeda. However, the threat of so-called "lone wolf" attacks is still a very real one, security experts warn - illustrated by the deadly shooting at the Brussels Jewish Museum earlier this year, which was carried out by an ISIS member who returned from Syria.

The United States on Thursday received the backing of 10 Arab countries for a "coordinated military campaign" against Islamic State fighters, Reuters reported.According to the report, after talks in Saudi Arabia, Secretary of State John Kerry won backing from 10 Arab countries - Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and six Gulf states including rich rivals Saudi Arabia and Qatar - for a coalition to fight the Sunni militants that have seized swathes of Iraq and Syria."Arab nations play a critical role in that coalition, the leading role really across all lines of effort: military support, humanitarian aid, our work to stop the flow of illegal funds," Kerry was quoted as having told a news conference.Non-Arab Sunni power Turkey also attended the talks in Jeddah but two other major regional players - Shiite Iran and Syria itself - were excluded, a sign of the difficulty of building a coalition across the Middle East's sectarian battle lines.The Arab states agreed in a communiqué to do more to stop the flow of funds and fighters to Islamic State and help rebuild communities "brutalized" by the group, according to Reuters."The participating states agreed to do their share in the comprehensive fight against [IS], including ... as appropriate, joining in the many aspects of a coordinated military campaign against [IS]," they said.Kerry met the Arab leaders to drum up support a day after President Barack Obama announced his plans to strike fighters in Iraq and Syria.U.S. officials said Kerry also sought permission to make more use of bases in the region and fly more warplanes overhead, issues that were not mentioned in the communiqué. Kerry said none of the countries in the coalition would send ground troops.Obama announced his plans in a prime time address on Wednesday to build an alliance to root out Islamic State in both Syria and Iraq, plunging the United States into two conflicts in which nearly every country in the Middle East has a stake.The region has been galvanized since June when Islamic State fighters, already in control of much of Syria, swept through northern Iraq, seizing cities, slaughtering prisoners, and proclaiming a "caliphate" that would rule over all Muslims.The White House says the group is a threat to the West as well, attracting fighters from around the world who could return to carry out attacks at home.
