Iran is continuing its verbal attacks on Israel, with the latest remarks coming on Saturday by a close aide to the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.The aide, Seyed Mahmoud Nabavi, was replying to British Foreign Secretary Phillip Hammond's recent remarks that Tehran has changed its policy on Israel, and underlined that fighting the “Zionist regime” is Iran’s everlasting policy."Fight against the illegal Zionist regime is one of the immutable policies of Iran which has always been maintained," Nabavi told the semi-official Fars news agency.He blasted Hammond's comments and said, "Such words are incorrect since one of the driving goals of the Islamic Revolution has been campaign against the arrogant powers.""We haven’t recognized the Zionist regime since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution and such a policy will continue," Nabavi stressed.Hammond comments last Sunday came as he reopened the British embassy, four years after it was ransacked by an Iranian mob, forcing its closure.Nabavi’s dismissal of the comments marks the third time that an Iranian official has commented on Hammond’s remarks since they were made.Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday stressed that the “Zionist regime” had no place in diplomatic talks between Tehran and London."We have rejected such media hype (before) and during Mr. Hammond's trip to Iran, we just discussed potentials of bilateral relations, fighting extremism and terrorism, etc.," said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham."There were no talks on the Zionist regime and the report that Iran has changed its position is denied," she stressed.A day earlier, the Iranian Parliament Speaker's Adviser for International Affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam blasted Hammond for what Fars described as his “interfering” remarks, and said Tehran's positions against Israel have not changed at all."Our positions against the usurper Zionist regime have not changed at all; Israel should be annihilated and this is our ultimate slogan," Sheikholeslam told reporters in Tehran.Despite the nuclear deal that was signed between Iran and the West, Khamenei has continued to bash Israel and the United States.Recently, Khamenei went so far as to publish a new book on the topic of outwitting the United States and destroying Israel.

An Italian exploration firm searching for gas and oil off Egypt's shores announced Sunday that it had found a huge natural gas deposit – the “biggest ever” find for the Mediterranean ever, according to officials for Eni SpA.According to the company, the find could provide as much as 30 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas in an area of 100 square kilometers (38.6 square miles). Called Zohr, the field, the company said in a statement, is “is the largest gas discovery ever made in Egypt and in the Mediterranean Sea and could become one of the world's largest natural gas finds.”The Leviathan field, until now the largest field in the Mediterranean, has 22 tcf of proven reserves. The other large Israeli gas field, Tamar, has 10 tcf, but both fields may be larger than that, geologists said. Eni did not say how much of the Egyptian find has been proven yet.The company made the announcement a day after Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi met in Cairo with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi. The government has not yet commented on the Eni announcement. Egypt had been in on-again, off-again talks to buy gas from Israel.

The large natural gas field found offshore from Egypt should be a wake-up call for Israel to finalize an agreement on its own sizable reserves in the Mediterranean Sea, Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said Sunday.“The discovery of the massive gas field in Egypt is a painful reminder that while Israel sleepwalks and dallies with the final approval for the gas road map, and delays further prospecting, the world is changing in front of us, including ramifications for [Israeli] export options,” Steinitz said, referring to the ongoing regulatory dispute that has stalled the signing of the deal.“We must pass the gas road map and forward the Israeli gas industry,” he said of a cabinet-backed deal to develop Israel’s Tamar and Leviathan reserves, Army Radio reported.The American Noble Energy and the locally based Delek Group have faced opposition to their proposed deal with the government to develop a number of natural gas reserves discovered offshore Israel in recent years.The deal has been controversial in Israel, with critics, including outgoing antitrust commissioner David Gilo, fearing the deal’s regulations would overly favor the companies involved.The high-stakes deal was thrown into the spotlight when Gilo said last year that the Noble-Delek partnership resembled a monopoly, and called for opening Israel’s natural gas market to increased competition.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, has maintained that the deal would pump billions of shekels into the economy. On August 16, the Israeli Army revealed that Iran has been directing terrorist attacks from Syria against Israelis in the Golan Heights region. Nobody paid attention. Four days later, Iranian-sponsored rockets from Syria struck Israel's Upper Galilee. Is anybody listening now? For weeks, supporters of Israel have been warning that the emerging Iran agreement would give Tehran funds that it could use to wage war against Israel through its proxies.But now it turns out that Iran is already waging that war. The question is, who is paying attention?.On August 16, a "senior Israeli Army Northern Command officer" revealed to journalists that for the past twenty months, Iran has "directed" terrorist attacks against Israelis on the Golan Heights."All of the attacks in the Golan Heights sector since December 2013 have been carried out with Iranian direction," the officer told reporters, according to the Israeli daily Israel HaYom.All of the attacks. Not one or two. All of them. "Directed" from Tehran.The officer said that "several hundred Hezbollah operatives are currently active on the Syrian side of the border in the Golan Heights." He said "Iran sends advisers [to the area] and provides money, weapons and training [to terrorists operating there]."Among the Iranian-directed terrorist cells operating in the Golan, he said, is a cell led by one Samir Kuntar. Does that name ring a bell? A Lebanese native, Kuntar is a veteran of the Palestine Liberation Front. The PLF, a member-organization of the PLO, was headed by Abu Abbas. Their most infamous attacks were the Achille Lauro hijacking in 1985, and an attempted attack on the Tel Aviv beachfront that resulted in the Bush administration withdrawing its recognition of the PLO. Among the Iranian-directed terrorist cells operating in the Golan, he said, is a cell led by one Samir Kuntar. Does that name ring a bell? In January 1978, Kuntar and three other PLF terrorists hatched a plan to hijack an Israeli bus traveling from Beit She'an to nearby Tiberias. (Note: It had nothing to do with "occupied territories" or "settlements." This was to be an attack on a civilian bus within the pre-1967 borders.) The hijackers were arrested by the Jordanian police as they tried to swim across the Jordan River into Israel. In less than a year, however, Jordan set them free. Apparently the Jordanians don't regard conspiracy to commit mass murder of Jews as a particularly serious crime.In April 1979, four PLF gangsters led by Kuntar infiltrated the northern Israeli coastal city of Nahariya. They murdered an Israeli policeman and broke into an apartment at random. The mother, Smadar Haran hid in a closet with her two year-old daughter Yael, and a neighbor. While trying to keep Yael from crying, Smadar accidentally smothered her.The terrorist took the father, Danny Haran, and their four year-old daughter Einat hostage, and forced them at gunpoint to the nearby beachfront. There Kuntar shot Danny in the head and murdered Einat by crushing her with the butt of his rifle (or with a large rock, according to some reports). Kuntar was captured by the Israelis--and then released in a 2008 prisoner exchange.Now, thanks to the Iranians, Kuntar lives in the Syrian-controlled section of the Golan Heights. Perhaps not surprisingly, he is the recipient of a Syrian Order of Merit from his kindred spirit, the mass murderer Bashar Assad. "Kuntar has recruited local Syrians to join the ranks of his cell," the Israeli officer said.How serious is the likelihood of attacks from Kuntar's group and other terror gangs in the Golan? "At any given moment, the IDF Northern Command faces at least two warnings of impending attacks in the Golan region," the officer said. In fact, just two weeks ago, the IDF "conducted an exercise simulating an Israeli incursion into Syria in response to attacks on the border….The main threat in the area is posed by jihadi groups, not the Syrian military.""At any given moment." Sure enough, just four days later, Iranian rockets from Syria struck in the Upper Galilee. Air-raid sirens sounded for the first time in years, as residents of local town and kibbutzim grabbed their children and ran, panic-stricken, to their bomb shelters.It was bad enough when it turned out that the Iran deal would give the Iranians hundreds of millions of dollars, which they could use to help Hezbollah and Hamas. And it was bad enough when it was revealed that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, recently authored a 416-page book on the need to destroy Israel.But now it turns out that the danger is not hypothetical, and Tehran is not just using words. It is already engaged in a daily proxy terror war against America's ally, Israel.Will Members of Congress ignore these “facts on the ground” as they are weighing how to vote on the Iran agreement? It was like ‘F*** you, Matisyahu.’ I’ve never had the experience of anything like that, as a Jew or anything in my life.”He said that the performance was one of the only times he’s ever felt unsafe onstage.“I just assumed everyone in the festival was going to be regular reggae festival-goers, so I got really nervous. Iran is continuing its verbal attacks on Israel, with the latest remarks coming on Saturday by a close aide to the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.The aide, Seyed Mahmoud Nabavi, was replying to British Foreign Secretary Phillip Hammond's recent remarks that Tehran has changed its policy on Israel, and underlined that fighting the “Zionist regime” is Iran’s everlasting policy."Fight against the illegal Zionist regime is one of the immutable policies of Iran which has always been maintained," Nabavi told the semi-official Fars news agency.He blasted Hammond's comments and said, "Such words are incorrect since one of the driving goals of the Islamic Revolution has been campaign against the arrogant powers.""We haven’t recognized the Zionist regime since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution and such a policy will continue," Nabavi stressed.Hammond comments last Sunday came as he reopened the British embassy, four years after it was ransacked by an Iranian mob, forcing its closure.Nabavi’s dismissal of the comments marks the third time that an Iranian official has commented on Hammond’s remarks since they were made.Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday stressed that the “Zionist regime” had no place in diplomatic talks between Tehran and London."We have rejected such media hype (before) and during Mr. Hammond's trip to Iran, we just discussed potentials of bilateral relations, fighting extremism and terrorism, etc.," said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham."There were no talks on the Zionist regime and the report that Iran has changed its position is denied," she stressed.A day earlier, the Iranian Parliament Speaker's Adviser for International Affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam blasted Hammond for what Fars described as his “interfering” remarks, and said Tehran's positions against Israel have not changed at all."Our positions against the usurper Zionist regime have not changed at all; Israel should be annihilated and this is our ultimate slogan," Sheikholeslam told reporters in Tehran.Despite the nuclear deal that was signed between Iran and the West, Khamenei has continued to bash Israel and the United States.Recently, Khamenei went so far as to publish a new book on the topic of outwitting the United States and destroying Israel.

An Italian exploration firm searching for gas and oil off Egypt's shores announced Sunday that it had found a huge natural gas deposit – the “biggest ever” find for the Mediterranean ever, according to officials for Eni SpA.According to the company, the find could provide as much as 30 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas in an area of 100 square kilometers (38.6 square miles). Called Zohr, the field, the company said in a statement, is “is the largest gas discovery ever made in Egypt and in the Mediterranean Sea and could become one of the world's largest natural gas finds.”The Leviathan field, until now the largest field in the Mediterranean, has 22 tcf of proven reserves. The other large Israeli gas field, Tamar, has 10 tcf, but both fields may be larger than that, geologists said. Eni did not say how much of the Egyptian find has been proven yet.The company made the announcement a day after Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi met in Cairo with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi. The government has not yet commented on the Eni announcement. Egypt had been in on-again, off-again talks to buy gas from Israel.

The large natural gas field found offshore from Egypt should be a wake-up call for Israel to finalize an agreement on its own sizable reserves in the Mediterranean Sea, Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said Sunday.“The discovery of the massive gas field in Egypt is a painful reminder that while Israel sleepwalks and dallies with the final approval for the gas road map, and delays further prospecting, the world is changing in front of us, including ramifications for [Israeli] export options,” Steinitz said, referring to the ongoing regulatory dispute that has stalled the signing of the deal.“We must pass the gas road map and forward the Israeli gas industry,” he said of a cabinet-backed deal to develop Israel’s Tamar and Leviathan reserves, Army Radio reported.The American Noble Energy and the locally based Delek Group have faced opposition to their proposed deal with the government to develop a number of natural gas reserves discovered offshore Israel in recent years.The deal has been controversial in Israel, with critics, including outgoing antitrust commissioner David Gilo, fearing the deal’s regulations would overly favor the companies involved.The high-stakes deal was thrown into the spotlight when Gilo said last year that the Noble-Delek partnership resembled a monopoly, and called for opening Israel’s natural gas market to increased competition.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, has maintained that the deal would pump billions of shekels into the economy. On August 16, the Israeli Army revealed that Iran has been directing terrorist attacks from Syria against Israelis in the Golan Heights region. Nobody paid attention. Four days later, Iranian-sponsored rockets from Syria struck Israel's Upper Galilee. Is anybody listening now? For weeks, supporters of Israel have been warning that the emerging Iran agreement would give Tehran funds that it could use to wage war against Israel through its proxies.But now it turns out that Iran is already waging that war. The question is, who is paying attention?.On August 16, a "senior Israeli Army Northern Command officer" revealed to journalists that for the past twenty months, Iran has "directed" terrorist attacks against Israelis on the Golan Heights."All of the attacks in the Golan Heights sector since December 2013 have been carried out with Iranian direction," the officer told reporters, according to the Israeli daily Israel HaYom.All of the attacks. Not one or two. All of them. "Directed" from Tehran.The officer said that "several hundred Hezbollah operatives are currently active on the Syrian side of the border in the Golan Heights." He said "Iran sends advisers [to the area] and provides money, weapons and training [to terrorists operating there]."Among the Iranian-directed terrorist cells operating in the Golan, he said, is a cell led by one Samir Kuntar. Does that name ring a bell? A Lebanese native, Kuntar is a veteran of the Palestine Liberation Front. The PLF, a member-organization of the PLO, was headed by Abu Abbas. Their most infamous attacks were the Achille Lauro hijacking in 1985, and an attempted attack on the Tel Aviv beachfront that resulted in the Bush administration withdrawing its recognition of the PLO. Among the Iranian-directed terrorist cells operating in the Golan, he said, is a cell led by one Samir Kuntar. Does that name ring a bell? In January 1978, Kuntar and three other PLF terrorists hatched a plan to hijack an Israeli bus traveling from Beit She'an to nearby Tiberias. (Note: It had nothing to do with "occupied territories" or "settlements." This was to be an attack on a civilian bus within the pre-1967 borders.) The hijackers were arrested by the Jordanian police as they tried to swim across the Jordan River into Israel. In less than a year, however, Jordan set them free. Apparently the Jordanians don't regard conspiracy to commit mass murder of Jews as a particularly serious crime.In April 1979, four PLF gangsters led by Kuntar infiltrated the northern Israeli coastal city of Nahariya. They murdered an Israeli policeman and broke into an apartment at random. The mother, Smadar Haran hid in a closet with her two year-old daughter Yael, and a neighbor. While trying to keep Yael from crying, Smadar accidentally smothered her.The terrorist took the father, Danny Haran, and their four year-old daughter Einat hostage, and forced them at gunpoint to the nearby beachfront. There Kuntar shot Danny in the head and murdered Einat by crushing her with the butt of his rifle (or with a large rock, according to some reports). Kuntar was captured by the Israelis--and then released in a 2008 prisoner exchange.Now, thanks to the Iranians, Kuntar lives in the Syrian-controlled section of the Golan Heights. Perhaps not surprisingly, he is the recipient of a Syrian Order of Merit from his kindred spirit, the mass murderer Bashar Assad. "Kuntar has recruited local Syrians to join the ranks of his cell," the Israeli officer said.How serious is the likelihood of attacks from Kuntar's group and other terror gangs in the Golan? "At any given moment, the IDF Northern Command faces at least two warnings of impending attacks in the Golan region," the officer said. In fact, just two weeks ago, the IDF "conducted an exercise simulating an Israeli incursion into Syria in response to attacks on the border….The main threat in the area is posed by jihadi groups, not the Syrian military.""At any given moment." Sure enough, just four days later, Iranian rockets from Syria struck in the Upper Galilee. Air-raid sirens sounded for the first time in years, as residents of local town and kibbutzim grabbed their children and ran, panic-stricken, to their bomb shelters.It was bad enough when it turned out that the Iran deal would give the Iranians hundreds of millions of dollars, which they could use to help Hezbollah and Hamas. And it was bad enough when it was revealed that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, recently authored a 416-page book on the need to destroy Israel.But now it turns out that the danger is not hypothetical, and Tehran is not just using words. It is already engaged in a daily proxy terror war against America's ally, Israel.Will Members of Congress ignore these “facts on the ground” as they are weighing how to vote on the Iran agreement? Reggae artist and former hassidic Jew Matisyahu has opened up in an interview about his experience at the Rototom Sunsplash festival Spain last week – and he says was not a pleasant one.The singer-songwriter has been hailed as a Jewish hero since the festival, in which he faced down a hostile, PLO-flag-waving audience and even sang his song “Jerusalem.”He told The Daily Beast in a phone interview that when he stood back stage, he noticed a PLO flag in the audience, but when he stepped on stage “about 20 flags came out.”“People were standing on each other’s shoulders with flags giving me the middle finger. It was intense. It was not peaceful. It was like ‘F*** you, Matisyahu.’ I’ve never had the experience of anything like that, as a Jew or anything in my life.”He said that the performance was one of the only times he’s ever felt unsafe onstage.“I just assumed everyone in the festival was going to be regular reggae festival-goers, so I got really nervous. I felt totally open and that anyone could do whatever they want,” he said.His performance followed pressure from anti-Israel forces that led to the cancellation of his invitation, international controversy, and then to a last-minute apology and re-invitation.While his performance was seen by Jews as an in-your-face affirmation of his Judaism and Zionism, Matisyahu made no such statement in the interview. “I’m not a political scientist, and I don’t claim to know all the details and the facts of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I haven’t chosen a side,” he told The Daily Beast.
