Israel sets out key changes for a better deal with Iran-Minister lists components of a more effective agreement, including no Iranian R&D on centrifuges, ‘anywhere, anytime’ inspections; poses 10 questions about current ‘irresponsible’ framework-By Times of Israel staff April 6, 2015, 7:18 pm 29

Israel on Monday set out a series of requirements and changes that it said could turn the framework agreement reached last Thursday by US-led negotiators with Iran into a more acceptable final deal.It also issued a document posing 10 questions that it said underlined “the extent of the irresponsible concessions given to Iran” in the agreement, and that it claimed made clear “how dangerous the framework is for Israel, the region and the world. The document was distributed by Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz, a Likud party member and confidant of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.Meeting with reporters in Jerusalem, Steinitz demanded a series of changes to close key loopholes as the final terms are negotiated ahead of a June 30 deadline. He presented the demands after Netanyahu reiterated in a series of US TV interviews on Sunday that Israel does not oppose any deal with Iran, but rather demands a “better deal.”The changes set out by Steinitz include: Barring further Iranian R&D on advanced centrifuges; significantly reducing the number of centrifuges Iran would have available to press back into service if it violates the deal; shuttering the Fordo underground enrichment facility; requiring Iran’s compliance in detailing previous nuclear activities with possible military dimensions; shipping its stockpile of lower-enriched uranium out of the country; and ensuring “anywhere, anytime” inspections of Iran’s facilities. The document distributed by Steinitz (see accompanying PDF here) reiterated Netanyahu’s assertion that “a better deal” can and must be reached. It protested that the framework agreement reached in Lausanne, Switzerland, and hailed by President Barack Obama as “historic,” “ignores the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program to Israel.” By contrast, it charged, “great consideration” was given to Iran, “an enemy of the Unites States, whose regime, even during the negotiations, continued to conduct aggression in the region and to call for the destruction of Israel.”It charged that “the framework deal does not block Iran’s path to the bomb. By removing the sanctions and lifting the main restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in about a decade, this framework paves Iran’s path to a bomb.”Echoing criticisms leveled by Netanyahu since the deal was reached, the document further protested that “not a single nuclear facility will be shut down. Iran will be permitted to continue its advanced centrifuge R&D, and [the issue of] its intercontinental ballistic missile program remains unaddressed.”Apart from what it called “the significant differences in the parties’ interpretations of the framework – reflected in the conflicting statements and ‘fact sheets’ they issued” — the Israeli document posed the following 10 questions:

1. Why are sanctions that took years to put in place being removed immediately (as the Iranians claim)? This would take away the international community’s primary leverage at the outset of the agreement and make Iranian compliance less likely.

2. Given Iran’s track record of concealing illicit nuclear activities, why does the framework not explicitly require Iran to accept inspections of all installations where suspected nuclear weapons development has been conducted? Why can’t inspectors conduct inspections anywhere, anytime?

3. Will Iran ever be forced to come clean about its past nuclear weaponization activity?

4. What will be the fate of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium?

5. Why will Iran be allowed to continue R&D on centrifuges far more advanced than those currently in its possession?

6. Why does the framework not address Iran’s intercontinental ballistic missile program, whose sole purpose is to carry nuclear payloads?

7. Following Iranian violations of the framework, how effective will be the mechanism to reinstitute sanctions?

8. What message does the framework send to states in the region and around the world when it gives such far-reaching concessions to a regime that for years has defied UNSC resolutions? Why would this not encourage nuclear proliferation?

9. The framework agreement appears to have much in common with the nuclear agreement reached with North Korea. How will this deal differ from the North Korean case?

10. Why is the lifting of restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in about a decade not linked to a change in Iran’s behavior? According to the framework, Iran could remain the world’s foremost sponsor of terror and still have all the restrictions removed. Instead, the removal of those restrictions should be linked to a cessation of Iran’s aggression in the Middle East, its terrorism around the world and its threats to annihilate Israel.”

The document ended with the assertion that “the alternative to this framework is a better deal, one that will significantly dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, bring about a cessation of its aggression in the region and terrorist activities around the world, as well as end its efforts to destroy Israel. The framework deal does not block Iran’s path to the bomb. By removing the sanctions and lifting the main restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in about a decade, this framework paves Iran’s path to a bomb. The result will be a dramatic increase in the risks of nuclear proliferation and an increase in the chances of a terrible war.”

Ya’alon: Iran deal ‘a historic mistake,’ and ‘existential issue’-Defense minister says Jerusalem doesn’t trust Tehran, stresses ‘deep-seated disagreement’ with US over framework accord-By Times of Israel staff April 6, 2015, 9:24 pm

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on Monday said the Iran framework deal was “an existential issue” for Israel and a “historic mistake” and lambasted the West for not addressing Tehran’s involvement in fueling conflicts across the Middle East.“It’s not that we don’t believe the White House,” the defense minister said in an interview with Channel 2 on the framework agreement. “We don’t believe the Iranians.”“As they [the P5+1 countries] speak about the number of centrifuges, Iran takes over Yemen… the Golan Heights, Hezbollah… All these things were not mentioned in the negotiations,” Ya’alon said. The defense minister said Jerusalem and Washington strongly disagree over the risk the deal poses to Israel’s survival, but maintained that the security ties between the two allies remain solid and the US is aware of Israeli criticism of the deal.“There is obviously a threat here to the State of Israel,” he continued, and instead of blocking [Iran], they [the US] paves its road” to the bomb, retroactively whitewashing “all its violations of international treaties.”He said “security relations [with the US] are really very good,” despite the “deep-seated difference of opinion” between Israel and the White House over the easing of sanctions as part of the framework deal.Ya’alon emphasized that despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s public disagreement with President Barack Obama on the Iranian issue, the US is “listening to us very well and the channels are open.” Asked again whether cooperation on defense matters suffered due to the two leaders’ differing opinions, Ya’alon answered emphatically: “Certainly not, certainly not.”Ya’alon said the Jewish state had “not yet exhausted” all options with regard to its efforts to prevent the deal in its current form. The final agreement, he said, “has yet to be written and signed, and there are many holes. It is the prime minister’s duty to bring these to the surface, as he indeed does.”Ya’alon also rebuffed claims Israel was being paranoid about the deal, pointing to concerns raised by other states across the Middle East.“I suggest you listen to Arab countries, what they say behind closed doors, not to the media,” the defense minister said. “We have a new situation here with a common enemy and common interests.”The defense minister’s comments came on the heels of a statement by the Saudi Arabian government welcoming the deal.Ya’alon noted that regardless of US overtures and Iran’s aspirations to become a Middle East powerhouse, the Islamic Republic will not open itself up to the West.“You will not see a McDonald’s opening in Tehran. ‘Death to America’ was chanted in Iran even as President Obama was making his Nowruz greetings recently,” he said. The framework agreement reached last Thursday by US-led negotiators with Iran aims to cut significantly into Tehran’s bomb-making technology while giving the Shiite country relief from international sanctions. The commitments, if implemented, would substantially pare down Iranian nuclear assets for a decade and restrict others for an additional five years. Iran would also be subject to intrusive international inspections.Netanyahu believes the deal leaves intact too much of Iran’s suspect nuclear program, including research facilities and advanced centrifuges capable of enriching uranium, a key ingredient in a bomb. He also asserts that the deal fails to address Iran’s support for militant groups across the Middle East.Yuval Steinitz, Israel’s minister for strategic affairs, said Monday that Israel has drawn up a list of 10 issues Israel wants addressed in the final agreement. The list includes a halt to “research and development” with advanced centrifuges, a reduction in the number of earlier-generation centrifuges that will be allowed to operate, and closing the underground Fordo site.Under the terms outlined in Switzerland, Iran has agreed to halt enrichment activities at Fordo but the site will be allowed to continue research, and some centrifuges will remain.Israel also wants Iran “to come clean” about its past efforts on developing nuclear weapons, seeks stronger assurances on how its stockpile of enriched uranium will be removed, and wants clarity on when sanctions on Iran will be lifted and how quickly they could be re-imposed.Steinitz said Israel will lobby the world powers — the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany — to amend the final version of the deal ahead of a June 30 deadline. He said Israel still hopes the final deal can be improved.“It might become a much better deal and more comprehensive and trusted deal than it is today. This is a bad deal,” Steinitz said.

Saudi Arabia welcomes Iran framework deal-While its media cries betrayal, monarchy officially says it hopes agreement will help rid region of weapons of mass destruction; hails Palestinian ICC bid-By Times of Israel staff April 6, 2015, 6:08 pm 4

Saudi Arabia’s cabinet said Monday that it welcomes the understandings reached between Iran and world powers in Lausanne, Switzerland, last week regarding the future of Tehran’s nuclear program. In a statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency, the kingdom “expressed hope that a final, binding and definitive agreement would be reached leading to the strengthening of security and stability in the region and the world.”The statement marked a stark contrast with Saudi media reports on the deal, which have expressed a sense of betrayal over the framework accord. The cabinet urged clearing the region of all weapons of mass destruction, and in an apparent reference to Tehran’s involvement in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, appealed for “good neighborliness and non-interference in the affairs of Arab states.”Iran and Saudi Arabia, the foremost Shiite and Sunni Muslim powers in the Middle East, have had troubled relations in recent years after taking different sides in the Syrian civil war. Before the framework agreement was announced, Saudi Arabia expressed fears that if too much of Iran’s nuclear program is left intact, it will still have the ability to obtain an atomic bomb.Relations have been further strained by the conflict raging in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition has waged more than a week of airstrikes against Iran-backed Shiite rebels.King Salman expressed similar sentiments with regard to the framework deal Thursday in a phone conversation with President Barack Obama, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.Saudi Arabia’s cabinet also hailed the International Criminal Court’s acceptance of the Palestinians as full members last week. “The cabinet stressed that the accession of the State of Palestine to the International Criminal Court strengthens its presence in the international field to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people,” the statement added. The framework deal announced Thursday envisions a final agreement that would pare back Iran’s nuclear program for at least a decade in return for sanctions relief. Iran and six world powers, including the United States, hope to reach a final agreement by June 30.Following the agreement’s signing, Obama spoke with the leaders of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to share details on the framework agreement reached with Iran, the White House said in a statement, according to Reuters. Obama invited the leaders of the Gulf states to meet with him at Camp David later this year to discuss the final deal.AFP, AP contributed to this report.

Palestinian camp in Lebanon becomes breeding ground for jihadists-Amid increasingly sectarian nature of civil war in neighboring Syria, Islamist groups make inroads at Ain al-Helweh-By Layal Abou Rahal April 6, 2015, 7:06 pm 1-the times of israel

AIN AL-HELWEH, Lebanon (AFP) — Lebanon’s Ain al-Helweh camp has long provided a stable, if destitute, bolthole for Palestinian refugees, some of whom have lived within its walls since fleeing their homes more than six decades ago.But the war in neighboring Syria has transformed parts of the southern camp into a safe haven for jihadists traveling to fight there, creating districts where even Palestinian security forces fear to tread and raising tensions among residents. In Taware district, the black flag of the Islamic State extremist group flutters in the wind.A photograph of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who has proclaimed a “caliphate” in parts of Iraq and Syria, is plastered on the walls of a small kiosk, alongside a picture of slain Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.Abu Hajer, a Palestinian from Ain al-Helweh who fights with Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front in Syria, uses the camp as a rear-base in between fighting.“The first time, I spent three months in Syria, then I went back to the camp after I was wounded,” he told AFP by Skype from Syria.“This is how it is every time, I go and I come back,” the man in his twenties said.Wanted by Lebanese security forces, he crosses government checkpoints at Ain al-Helweh’s entrances with a fake ID and “small adjustments to my appearance,” like shaving his long beard.“It’s jihad in the path of Allah, who I hope will end my fighting with the martyrdom that I love,” he said.

‘Mosaic’ of jihadists

Lebanon’s security forces say at least 46 men have left Ain al-Helweh to fight in Syria’s four-year war, in addition to a number who “come and go.”Major General Mounir al-Maqdah, head of Palestinian security forces in Lebanon, said many of the fighters were no older than 17.“They’re from a new generation that is very reckless,” he said.Lebanon’s Palestinian refugee camps offer few employment opportunities. Lebanese law bars their residents from several professions.Under a decades-old agreement, state security forces do not enter the camps, leaving them under the control of Palestinian militant groups. But even they are afraid of entering the three neighbourhoods of Ain al-Helweh that have come under the control of extremist groups. One of these groups, “Shabab al-Muslim” (the Muslim Youth), was established in Ain al-Helweh as hardliners rose to prominence in Syria. It includes militants accused of bombings and assassinations in Lebanon.Jamal Hamad, a cleric and leading official in Shabab al-Muslim, called the group a “mosaic” of jihadists.“There’s empathy in the camp with jihadist groups… There’s empathy with Al-Nusra Front, and there’s some empathy with the Islamic State group,” Hamad told AFP.He said neither group had an “official” presence in the camp, but supporters were galvanized by sectarian rhetoric.“It’s alright for the Shiite Muslims to come from Lebanon to fight in Syria, and it’s not alright for Sunnis to empathize with the Sunni people being killed,” complained Hamad.Syria’s conflict began in March 2011 with anti-government protests but spiralled into an armed conflict that has killed more than 215,000 people. The Sunni-led opposition has significant support among Sunnis in Lebanon, while President Bashar al-Assad’s government is backed by Lebanon’s Shiite Hezbollah movement, which has dispatched forces to Syria to bolster his regime.More than 61,000 Palestinian refugees live in Ain al-Helweh, including 6,000 who recently fled the war in Syria. The rundown alleyways are filled with potholes, and electricity wires dangle perilously above residents’ heads.Posters of Palestinian leaders adorn the walls, and armed men patrol the streets. At the camp’s entrance, Lebanese soldiers search all those entering and leaving, with female officers searching women wearing the veil. The rise of jihadists in Ain al-Helweh has worried camp authorities, who are stepping up cooperation with the army. They want to prevent a repeat of the 2007 battles between Lebanon’s army and Palestinian Islamists in the northern Nahr al-Bared refugee camp that left dozens dead.“There’s an understanding with the army that the issue of wanted persons will be resolved calmly,” said Maqdah. Palestinian security official General Sobhi Abu Arab played down the concerns, insisting only “a minority” of residents were involved in the conflict in Syria. He said many of those had returned because “they weren’t convinced by what they were doing.”

MATTHEW 27:11-28
11  And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
12  And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
13  Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
14  And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
15  Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
16  And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
17  Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
18  For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
19  When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
20  But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
21  The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
22  Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
23  And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24  When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25  Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
26  Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
27  Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
28  And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

Archaeologist believes he’s found site of Jesus’s trial by Pontius Pilate-Jerusalem Old City dig uncovers 2,700 years of history, with layers from the time of the First Temple through the Roman, Crusader and Ottoman periods-By Ben Sales April 6, 2015, 5:24 pm 38-THE TIMES OF ISRAEL

JERUSALEM (JTA) — When Amit Re’em embarked on a 1999 excavation of an abandoned Ottoman prison in the Old City of Jerusalem, he didn’t expect anything revolutionary. The dig was primarily aimed at inspecting the site before it was transformed into an event space for the nearby Tower of David Museum, and Re’em, then just 28, hoped at most to uncover some remains of a Herodian palace, or maybe part of a wall from the second century. He did find those things — along with much more.In one 49 meters by 9 meters (160 feet by 30 feet) space, Re’em unearthed an archaeological timeline of Jerusalem dating back 2,700 years. Layers from nearly every era of the city’s history lay on top of each other, from the time of the First Temple through the Roman, Crusader and Ottoman periods, and up to Israel’s independence in 1948. Remains from those eras are strewn throughout the Old City, but rarely are they found so close together or so well preserved.“The strength of the remains and the layering of them one on top of each other is like an open book, the whole historical and archaeological sequence of Jerusalem laid out in front of our eyes,” Re’em told JTA. “We expected to find things, but the strength that we saw them in was beyond our expectations.”Called the Kishle — Turkish for prison — the site was built as a jail by the Ottoman Turks in the 1800s and used by the British in the 1940s to hold captured Jewish militia members. A map of Greater Israel etched by an imprisoned member of the pre-state Irgun militia is still visible on the wall.Below the prison lay the foundations of a fortification wall built in the eighth century BCE by the ancient Jewish King Hezekiah, who like later rulers took advantage of the site’s strategic high ground. Across the room are remains of another defensive wall built 600 years later by the Hasmoneans, who ruled Jerusalem after the Maccabees revolt. The room also houses remains of the wall of a massive Herodian palace built near the beginning of the Common Era, as well as basins from the Crusader period that were likely used to dye clothes and tan leather. The current walls of the Old City, built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, sit atop the Herodian wall and later served as the outer wall of the prison.Re’em also believes the room may have been the site of Jesus’ trial by Pontius Pilate. Pilate would have tried Jesus in a prominent location like Herod’s palace, Re’em said, noting that the original route of the Via Dolorosa that Jesus followed to his crucifixion passed the spot where the Kishle now stands.“A lot of times you expect something and don’t find it because you didn’t get down to the lower layers because of logistics, budget, you name it,” Re’em said. “On the other hand, archaeological layers and remains are [sometimes] destroyed. Here we were lucky the remains weren’t damaged or destroyed. We could dig for two years from the top down to the bottom.” Re’em’s findings convinced the Tower of David Museum not to build on the site. But since the dig ended in 2001, the room remained closed due to budget constraints until the museum’s new director, Eilat Lieber, opened it to the public last year. The room has not been changed since 2001 and looks like an active archaeological dig. Lieber hopes to place a glass floor above the remains and to augment them with 3-D imaging that will show what the space looked like in different periods.“It’s like a hello from different historical eras that connect us to this place and allow us to understand what was here,” Lieber told JTA. “What remains are stones, but behind the stones are what was here, who the characters were.”Many of Re’em’s conclusions about the room are based on dating techniques and inferences from historic sources. The claim that the walls belonged to Herod’s palace come in part from the writings of the historian Josephus Flavius. Re’em’s belief that the basins were used for cloth dying is derived from an account by Benjamin of Tudela, a medieval Jewish traveler, plus remnants of red dye on the basin walls. But Re’em added that at a certain point, dating and accuracy become less important than what the site means to visitors looking for a spiritual experience.“As an archaeologist who works in Jerusalem, it doesn’t matter where the real location of Jesus’s trial was,” he said. “What matters is what people believe.“At the Kishle site, people can touch the stones of the Herodian palace. Whoever wants can see this place as the location of the trial of Jesus.

Group: Jews Need Temple Mount for Passover Sacrifice-Two Jewish activists were arrested for posting notices near the entrance to the Temple Mount, asking Muslims to please evacuate the Mount.By Moshe Cohen-First Publish: 4/2/2015, 10:37 AM-israelnationalnews

Two Jewish activists were arrested for posting notices near the entrance to the Temple Mount, asking Muslims to please evacuate the Mount, in order to allow Jews to bring the Paschal Sacrifice Friday.
“You are hereby asked to evacuate the premises by April 2 at 7 p.m.,” the notice reads in both Hebrew and Arabic.“Due to the work being done to rebuild the Holy Temple and the need to bring the Passover sacrifice, the area must be evacuated. We thank you for your cooperation,” the notice, signed in the name of “the Jewish People,” reads. The notices were posted on the pathways leading to the entrance to the Mount by activists of the “Return to the Mount” organization. Two of the activists were caught while putting up the sings and were subsequently arrested by Jerusalem police. The group has also put up such notices in the past.According to Jewish tradition, families or groups are instructed to take a lamb and roast it whole on the Temple Mount on Passover eve, for use during the evening's Passover feast. With the destruction of the Temple nearly 2,000 years ago, the requirement to bring the Sacrifice has been suspended.

Demand for Access to Synagogue on the Temple Mount-Temple Mount activists demand police follow the law and grant access to synagogue on Mahkama Building, located on Mount.By Shlomo Pyotrkovsky, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 4/6/2015, 2:27 PM-israelnationalnews

Joint HQ of Temple Mount Organizations chairperson Attorney Aviad Visoli has sent an urgent letter to the Jerusalem District Police Chief Moshe Edri, demanding that he open the synagogue on the walls of the Temple Mount to Jewish access. The synagogue is on the grounds of the Mahkama Building, situated adjacent to the Kotel (Western Wall) but extending out over the grounds of the Temple Mount - the holiest site in Judaism."The synagogue at the Mahkama Building has a special uniqueness and importance to Jews, in that it is the only synagogue in the world located within the walls of the Temple Mount," wrote Visoli. "Therefore, this synagogue is the only one in the world where the commandment of prostrating oneself on the Temple Mount can be fulfilled."Visoli demanded that Edri respond to the request by Tuesday, adding that if no response is given, the Joint HQ activists are prepared to launch legal processes against the Israeli Police to compel them to enforce the "Law for Preserving Holy Sites" which promises free access to holy sites. The urgent letter comes as a follow-up, after Visoli's request to enter the synagogue was rejected the day before.Like many other Jews, Visoli was denied access to the Temple Mount during Pesach (Passover) on Sunday. Short of access to the Mount, he asked permission to visit the synagogue, but was denied by area commander Avi Biton who explained the synagogue had been turned into a military base.In response, Visoli wrote "there is great doubt as to whether a 'military territory' order is in effect on the Mahkama area as police commander Biton claims.""But even if there is one in effect, the commands of the law for the preservation of holy sites takes precedence over that, in regards to everything related to free access for Jews to their holy place in military territory," said the attorney. "What's more, 'safe passage' to the synagogue can be defined without harming 'military territory' (residences of Border Patrol soldiers)."Addressing Edri, Visoli wrote, "as is known to you, the state of Israel is a Jewish and democratic state that is subject to the rule of law, and is not a military dictatorship in which soldiers' residences cancel holy sites."Visoli concluded by demanding "to allow free access to the synagogue on Mahkama, so that every Jew will have free access to this holy place and the possibility to pray there starting from this Pesach chol hamoed (intermediary days of Passover - ed.) onwards."The Joint HQ stated that given the repeated failure of the police to allow Jews to visit the Temple Mount on the Jewish holidays, it must at the least allow Jewish access to the synagogue built on the Mount.

At last 50,000 people filled the Western Wall (Kotel) Plaza Monday, for the Birkat Hakohanim ceremony – the Priestly Blessing. The ceremony is held every year during Chol Hamoed Pesach and Chol Hamoed Sukkot.Hundreds of Kohanim – descendants of the original Jewish Temple priests, who have special status in Judaism – took part in the Shacharit morning prayer and performed the mitzvah of the Priestly Blessing twice, during Shacharit and during the Musaf prayer. The Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhal Yosef and Rabbi David Lau, along with Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovich, the Kotel Rabbi, have been personally greeting the Jewish pilgrims since the prayer ended, and were scheduled to continue doing so until noon.Minister Uri Ariel said Monday morning, at the Western Wall, that he was “moved” by the occasion. Ariel, who is also a Kohen, stood next to the Kotel along with the other Kohanim, facing the multitude, and performed the blessing.

Chief Rabbi Lau: Next Year on the Temple Mount-At mass priestly blessing, chief rabbis add their blessings to Jewish people; 'Next year may we be blessed up at top of the Mount.'By Meir Sela, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 4/6/2015, 1:43 PM-israelnationalnews

Hundreds of thousands were at the Kotel (Western Wall) on Monday morning for the Birkat Hakohanim Priestly Blessing ceremony, as hundreds of Kohanim priestly descendants blessed the nation in time for Pesach (Passover).Arutz Sheva got the chance to speak with Israel's chief rabbis about the blessings, and their own blessings for the Jewish people.Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi David Lau said "it's a great merit for all of the people of Israel who stand here in a place that is so sanctified and so unique, standing and meriting the blessing of Heaven, everyone - with no difference in ethnic communities."The mass of Jews gathering for a blessing were there "in a prayer that next year we will all merit to stand and be blessed from the mouth of the Creator of the Universe through His delegates the Kohanim, those serving G-d at the holy and pure place up above at the top of the (Temple) Mount," added Rabbi Lau.The reference to ascending the Temple Mount, where the priestly service at the Temple occurred and is to occur at the time of the final redemption, comes at a time when the Jordanian Waqf still enjoys de facto control of the site and has forbidden Jewish prayer."I bless the people of Israel with the blessing of a kosher and joyous Pesach," Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef added. "Happy holiday, may they merit many good long years."Chief Rabbi of the Kotel, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, also spoke with Arutz Sheva, saying that the priestly blessing is "a great and enormous blessing.""The Holy One Blessed be He guarantees it," said the rabbi, quoting the scriptural reference behind the priestly blessing in which it is written "place my Name upon the children of Israel and I will bless them.""There is no greater blessing than this," stated Rabbi Rabinowitz. He concluded saying, "with G-d's help may this blessing be upon all those who were here, and all those who joined us and heard it, and all of the house of Israel. May we receive all of the blessings written in the Torah, amen."The messages from the rabbis, in Hebrew, can be seen below.

Rabbi Chaim Richman: People Want a New Status Quo-Temple Institute's Director says that despite the reluctance of many Jews, there is a "national awakening" over Passover offerings.By Gedalyah Reback-First Publish: 4/1/2015, 6:25 PM-israelnationalnews

“There would be millions of people coming. How would the city prepare itself? This touches on a number of subjects and the blueprints of the Temple or the influx of so many people and being considered,” says Rabbi Chaim Richman, International Director for the Temple Institute in the Old City of Jerusalem.“The initial step we're talking about here is renewing the interest in the Korban Pesach (Passover Offering) itself.”This Friday, the 14th of the Hebrew month of Nissan, Jews would normally be obligated to bring a special sacrifice to the Temple – a lamb. That lamb would then be roasted, given back to the person who brought it to the Temple court, then brought home or to wherever his family might be staying for the Festival of Matzahs Seder (what we conventionally call Passover). But Passover – Pesach in Hebrew – gets its colloquial name primarily to the sacrifice that is brought the day before Seder night. In absence of the Temple itself, only a bone (sometimes not even lamb) is left on the Seder plate.“Of all the offerings that could be brought, according to a number of authorities there is Halachically nothing hold us back – we can bring it even now,” proclaims Rabbi Richman, whose organization famously advocates for the restoration of the Temple service on the Temple Mount.
“A very small, minimally-sized alter could easily be built and very quickly. You can even be brought in a state of impurity, out of obligation.”One common argument used against activists who regularly visit the Temple Mount and hope to restore its centrality in Judaism is that given the ritual state of impurity all Jews are presumed to have in our day and age – and with the Catch 22 that the tools are not available to remedy that impurity – resuming Temple services is impossible. Rabbi Richman is of a growing number of religious authorities who reject that as an illogical assumption.Rabbi Richman emphasizes that the Passover offering is unique in Judaism because only it and the commandment to circumcise males carry with them the stiff penalty of karet – spiritual excision – for not performing them.“To say we cannot bring the Korban Pesach – can you imagine the State of Israel saying you are not permitted to circumcise your male sons? That’s the Passover Offering.”

“It’s the same thing.”

Rabbi Richman chastises any rabbinical authorities who oppose resuming Temple services on Mount Moriah, without naming names.“We need to get out of our comfort zones. Why are they choosing which mitzvot (commandments) are still relevant and which are no longer relevant? Or, some people say that we can’t do it ourselves and that it will fall out of the sky. I don’t believe the Torah would command something that we would not be able to do.”We need to understand what our role in this world is. The Korban Pesach represents Israel’s role in the world to combat idolatry - it's about facing the pagan gods in other parts of the world. We're faced with this incredible threat at same time of question whether or not to bring KP.Rabbi Richman speaks of a 19th century dispute among some of the more well-known names of the period. Rabbi Zvi Kalischer openly advocated for the bringing of new Temple offerings. In the debate that ensued, it was the famed Rabbi Akiva Eiger asked his son-in-law, the Hatam Sofer to intercede with the Ottomans and enable the sacrifices to happen.Rabbi Yirmiyohu Kaganoff explains, “The Hatam Sofer responded with great respect to his father-in-law, but pointed out that the Temple area is unfortunately covered by a mosque that is sacred to its Muslim rulers who will not permit any non-Muslim to enter. Thus, we see that both Rabbi Akiva Eiger and the Hatam Sofer agreed with Rabbi Kalischer that we are permitted to bring offerings before the reconstruction of the Temple.”Over the years, campaigners have requested the reboot of Passover offerings above all others on the Temple Mount. These requests are routinely rejected.“What has meaning now is that there is a tremendous and enthusiastic response to the idea. The Jewish people is making a reassessment and seeing that something is seriously wrong with this situation, with this status quo.“This is part of our national awakening.”When asked if he felt it would be problematic to see so few Jews taking advantage of a (however unlikely) ruling in favor of the ritual, Rabbi Richman chuckled, “In the meantime let's bring one and I'll be satisfied.”

Op-Ed: The Extinction of Eastern Christianity May Figure Europe’s Own Future-An interview with Bat Ye'or, a foremost historian of the Middle East.Published: Sunday, April 05, 2015 12:52 AM-Giulio Meotti-israelnationalnews

The numbers of Christians in the Middle East are dwindling. In Iraq, there were 1.4 million Christians in 2003 and there are now 270,000. In Syria, they were 1,1 million before the civil war and are now 400,000. Everywhere, from Lybia to Iraq, the Islamic State is beheading Christians or converting them to Islam. It is a demographic and religious revolution of immense historic consequences. We talk with Bat Ye’or, the great Jewish historian of Egyptian origin who dedicated many books to what she called “dhimmitude”, the subjugation of minorities (Jews and Christians) under Islam.

What is the situation of Eastern Christianity?

The situation of Eastern Christianity is a tragedy of immense proportions. It entails human sufferings on a traumatic scale. Even those, like Egyptian President Sisi who would like to help, seem powerless in such dramatic circumstances. As for the West, the ideological and strategic choices it made in the last century incapacitate it and obscure its understanding.Natural disasters like tsunamis or earthquakes have spawned magnificent solidarity movements in the West, but the disappearance of a Christian population, of its two thousand old civilization and memory, moves no one. Maybe it is one more sign of Western decadence, of a deliberate policy of deleting Christian identity by choosing globalization and Islamization – a policy based on the rejection of Judeo-Christian values rooted in our actual Western culture of execration of Israel. We saw tens of thousands of people walking in the main European capitals on behalf of the Palestinians that were showering Israeli civilians with missiles and shouting “death to Israel and the Jews”, but Christian agony in Muslim lands would bring only five hundred timid protesters out to the Parisian streets.Since the 1970s, all European political parties have supported the Palestinians and Arab-Muslim interests. Eastern Christians were in the vanguard of the anti-Zionist European policy and like the Egyptian Edward Said, the severest detractors of the West, while magnifying the superiority of Muslim civilization.Of course, it was only the desperate shield of vulnerable Christian communities living under a Damocles spade, a population that could only survive in the Islamic sea by supporting the power that destroyed them. The Caliphate’s policy revolts many Muslims even if most dreamed of the establishment of an idealized Caliphate. But in fact, Isis’s rules are those that were applied after the successful jihadist conquests of the Christian Middle East. The massacres, the enslavement, the expulsions, the ransoming, the destruction of monuments, books and legacy of former civilizations or their Islamization, are described in thousands of books throughout the centuries. But since last century and Europe’s love story with the Palestinians, this history was forbidden in Europe and replaced with the Islamic view of history contrasting Muslim peaceful tolerance and Israel’s devilish nature.Like in their former wanderings, Eastern Christians find refuge in neighboring Muslim countries with other persecuted minorities. The human trials which need international help are aggravated by the loss of historical identity, of centuries old treasures and of the memories of past generations enshrined in old books preciously kept throughout the vicissitudes of time. These collective experiences weave the long history of dhimmitude, which is now returning with the enforcement of a strict shariah rule that had been adulterated in some Muslim countries by modernization. Hence, we see now under our eyes the reality of dhimmitude that has been consistently denied by political consensus. How do you see the future of Christians in the Middle East? Will they follow the Jews who fled those lands in 1948? It is difficult to foresee the evolution of this chaos provoked by a blind Europe and Obama, both probably seduced by the advice of their preferred counselors: the radicalized Muslims and Muslim Brotherhood. It is clear that whatever will happen, Christians will emigrate. Maybe a reduced Coptic community will remain in Egypt, but Christian presence will weaken in other regions.Already, the Christian character of Lebanon has vanished as a consequence of the routing out of the proud Lebanese Christians by the Palestinians and their Muslim allies in the civil war of the 1970-80s, with Europe and particularly France, supporting the Palestinians. Cynical people accuse the West of encouraging Christian’s emigration by giving them entry visas, but if the West wants a robust Christianity in its former homeland it must have the courage to defend it – a policy it vehemently rejected after the First World War.Europe has desisted from defending itself, how would it defend others? While being president of the European Commission, Romano Prodi mocked Israel’s protection of its citizens giving as an example a self-confident Europe open to the world, encouraging immigration and with no enemy. Would he be able to repeat this bluster today? The Christians will flee, but not like the Jews. Most of the Jews returned, in spite of Europe’s governments, to their homeland where they restored their ancient civilization. They couldn’t do it without an external help, Jewish and Christian. Moreover Jews had a vision that united them in spite of their divisions and differences. The proclamation of man liberty and dignity, the liberation from slavery constituted the birth certificate of the people of Israel that kept its identity and soul throughout the millenaries of serfdom.Christians too are heir of this epic as long as they accept the Hebrew bible. But Christians became from the end of the 19th century the victims of rival political European interests that divided them and aggravated their religious scissions. Fractured, traumatized by the early 20th century genocides in the Ottoman provinces, Eastern Christianity could not, without external help, reorganize itself. This was a terrible Christian failure.

Is the West guilty of the Christian tragedy?

In my view: yes!  In many ways….England and France were responsible for splitting Christian identity by persuading the Christians that they were Arabs and that they had to militate with Muslims for a new ideology: Arab nationalism that would suppress Zionism. There were Christian Arabs, but most Christians were Eastern Christians who were Arabized by the Arab conquest of their lands. Moreover many Christians were not anti-Israeli and felt that the Israelis were the indigenous inhabitants of the Middle East before the Arab conquest in the 7th century. On the advice of the two colonial powers Christians became more Arab than the Arabs after the traumatizing experience of the big massacres in Lebanon and Syria in 1860.From then on, they became the Christian mercenaries of Muslim causes and particularly of the Palestinians later on. This dhimmi militancy on behalf of Islam and its expanding domination altered their historical consciousness. Being vulnerable minorities, they were used so as to spread in the West anti-Jewish and anti-Israeli hatred in the West. They had to bury their dhimmi history to praise Islamic tolerance. On the political level, France, England and America refused to grant to the Assyrians and Armenians an autonomous national territory after the First World War, fearing the rage of the Muslim population of their new Arab colonies. They refused the Christian request for a protection in the new Arab states at the end of the mandate period, stating that their best protection would be their integration as Arabs in their new countries. The result was a great massacre of Assyrians in the 1930s.European powers never considered the Eastern Christians’ interests, their policy aimed to handle carefully the large colonized Muslim populations or later the new Arab and Muslim states in an age of oil dependency. It was the same with Kurdish demand for autonomy. Only the false Palestinian national identity based on jihad – created by France in 1969 – has become the consensus for the European Union hidden war against Israel. Having denied the history of dhimmitude, Europe now is living without knowing it under some dhimmitude’s rule, evidenced by its insecurity under jihadist threats. In a way, the extinction of Eastern Christianity might figure Europe’s own future.Following Bat Ye’or tragic prognosis, Yale’s Jewish scientist David Gelernter was right in the last number of First Things magazine in his call for an alliance between Jews and Christians.Since the State of Israel is still in the process of fighting for her own existence, by allying with the Jews the Christians can amend their own past mistakes and gamble in their own future.

Nightmare Scenario: How Would Israel Combat a Nuclear Iran?-Israel will look to the US for security guarantees in response to an Iranian nuke, but how would it defend against strengthened proxies? By Gedalyah Reback-First Publish: 4/6/2015, 12:38 PM-israelnationalnews

Political science has analyzed the topic of nuclear proliferation since the Soviet Union tested its first nuclear weapon in 1949. After decades of watching the apparent chess game of nuclear brinksmanship between the United States and the Soviet Union, world leaders were met with alarm in the 1970s when both India and Pakistan acquired nuclear weapons. It is far less acquainted with what even smaller countries would do with those sorts of weapons in a much more tight-knit, yet complex web of regional rivalries. If Iran gets the bomb, the Saudis, Egyptians and Turks might all follow. But what of Israel? Most experts assume Israel has nuclear weapons under Israel’s policy of nuclear ambiguity, leading rivals on to the idea Israel might have a nuclear arsenal as an insurance policy. It is telling that since most experts believe Israel has had a weapon for about 50 years, efforts to obtain such a weapon by enemy states have been extremely limited, due to an understanding perhaps that Israel's nuclear weapons are purely defensive. Iraq’s efforts went from fission to fizzle in 1981’s Israeli attack against the Osirak nuclear reactor, and there was the 2007 bombing of an alleged Syrian nuclear research site. When it comes to Israel’s most immediate concern, Iran, groups like Hamas and Hezbollah would suddenly have a “nuclear umbrella.” That is to say, fighting those groups increases the chance Iran might employ its nuclear weapons against Israel in a war.“There’s a question about non-state actors like Hezbollah or Hamas. As soon as Iran has a bomb, you have to treat these groups differently,” says Emily Landau of the Institute for National Security Studies.“The very fact Iran would be a nuclear state would give those proxies a different status.”It is one thing to consider the possibility that Israel courts nuclear annihilation by going to war with a proxy force like Hamas or Hezbollah. But it is entirely another to think those groups themselves might acquire nuclear technology from the Iranians. It would go against the tendency in history for nuclear states to maintain full responsibility over their weapons in order not to allow smaller state (or non-state) actors to make independent and possibly irresponsible decisions about employing such weapons. There is another reason that Landau highlights that would keep Iran from handing nuclear capabilities to allies in the Palestinian territories or Lebanon.“I’m less concerned that Iran would purposely transfer nukes to one of those proxies," says Landau. "There is a very low chance of those things happening because nuclear powers tend not to share their weapons because they don't know if those things might come back to be threats against them themselves down the line.”When asked by Arutz Sheva if talk of possibly using nuclear weapons might be futile because history has shown they have not been deployed since the original bombings in Japan in World War II, Landau is not confident that the lessons of nuclear rivalries the world has seen so far would necessarily apply to how Israel should weigh its strategic needs or options.“There is a norm against using nuclear weapons because of the way states have interacted. They’ve become seen as weapons of nonuse. It might take years, but things can develop.”“The accidental use or the prospect of mis-escalation are things that no one wants to happen.”When asked if another concern was deployment of smaller weapons that could be more easily managed by paramilitary terrorist organizations, Landau pondered the possibility.“There are tactical nuclear weapons of different sizes. The real question is if they would be used? Conventional weapons could also be more destructive.”As former Deputy Director of the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University Loren Thomspon wrote in Forbes last year, “Strategic nuclear weapons like intercontinental ballistic missiles are tightly controlled by senior military leaders in Russia and America, making their unauthorized or accidental use nearly impossible.  That is less the case with nonstrategic nuclear weapons, which at some point in the course of an escalatory process need to be released to the control of local commanders if they are to have military utility.”Command breakdown, or lack of discipline in the chain of command, is a real possibility that frightens Middle East observers. Consider the fickle organization of militias in Syria, where allegiance could shift suddenly and competent commanders killed to make way for those with far less experience. If a group that has less depth in man power and officers like Hezbollah were to lose several experienced officers during a conflict while controlling a tactical nuke, someone less familiar with the consequences may make the decision to use it.Landau believes that Israel’s strategy will likely not be based on matching the alliances anchored by Iran or Saudi Arabia. There are no natural allies for Israel in the region in order to make that happen. Instead, Landau sees Israel falling back on what it has done in the past, “getting certain security guarantees from the United States or rethinking its nuclear policy” regarding disclosure. In 2003, a group of academics presented then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s government with the conclusions of the Daniel Project. That strategic assessment imagined a scenario where another state – specifically Iran – acquired nukes. Instead of continuing nuclear ambiguity, the report suggests that Israel would need to shift its policy:“Israel should continue with present policy of ambiguity regarding its own nuclear status. This would help to prevent any legitimization of WMD in the Middle East. It is possible, however, that in the future Israel would be well-advised to proceed beyond nuclear ambiguity to certain limited forms of disclosure. This would be the case only if enemy (state and/or non-state) nuclearization had not been prevented.”

What Might a Middle East Nuclear Arms Race Look Like?-Nuclear brinkmanship in the Middle East would not necessarily resemble past nuclear rivalries around the world.By Gedalyah Reback-First Publish: 4/6/2015, 3:29 PM-israelnationalnews

Saudi Arabia is on the march. Within days of a framework agreement between Iran and the United States, the Saudis launched Operation Decisive Force in Yemen to ostensibly roll back Iranian influence in the region. It also possible that the Saudis think they have a time limit to make moves against Iran before Iran actually gets the bomb. After that, the Saudis might need to be much more cautious going to war with Iran's allies or with Iran itself. There is another worry as well - that the Saudi alliance with the United States might also be eclipsed by a new relationship between Tehran and Washington.“I think Saudi Arabia is obviously, tremendously worried about the nuclear deal,” says Emily Landau of the Institute for National Security Studies. “But what worries them about it the most isn’t the nuclear capacity of Iran but the bilateral arrangements between Iran and the United States that might have broader implications on the overall strategic situation that would end up coming at their expense.”What Landau is referring to is the increasingly discussed idea that the United States is shifting to an alliance with Iran. While it is hard to say how seriously experts are taking the notion that this would happen, what matters is more that the Saudis see some degree of probability in the move. Israel is also likely weighing if this is in the background of the United States’ thinking, but for the time being Israel is not as afraid of such a development as much as Saudi Arabia.“It is not nuclear capability per se that worries Saudi Arabia but the context the agreement, of a possibly changing Iranian-US relationship that is tremendously disconcerting for Saudi Arabia. It also has serious implications for Saudi hegemony in the Persian Gulf in how it could change regional dynamics.”Landau emphasizes that despite the literature that has been written about nuclear brinksmanship and strategic responses to developing nuclear power, very little can be predicted with a degree of certainty. The United States and Soviet Union danced around each other for decades, with both sides "prevailing" in a way since neither employed nuclear weapons against the other, nor against each other’s allies, throughout the years of the Cold War. But that dynamic is very different from analyzing how two regional rivals, particularly neighbors, might compete with each other or what might lead the two sides to the brink.“We don’t know yet. The problem in assessing the strategic relationship (between the Saudis and the Iranians) is that we have relatively few cases to examine and compare it to. For experts, there aren’t too many cases on which to base our projections in terms of future developments.”Other cases involve the rivalry between India and Pakistan, but Landau dismisses the possibility that that rivalry might hold definitive answers for the Middle East; particularly considering the possibility other regional powers could also develop their own nuclear weapons. In addition to the presumed possibility of Iran and Saudi Arabia racing each other to the bomb, Israel is already assumed to have an arsenal, Egypt is a military power that has begun its own nuclear energy program, and Turkey has the financial means to launch its own program. Most people assume that Saudi Arabia can move toward a nuclear weapon relatively quickly,” says Landau, whether via its own development program or "buying" a bomb from Pakistan. On the possibility that five Middle Eastern states could either have or be near having their own nuclear weapons all at the same time, she says there are more questions than answers on how that would change regional dynamics.“Will they have a mutual deterrent relationship? What will it involve? How will it evolve? “A lot here is not known – a lot of people knowledgeable about nuclear issues are having a hard time predicting what will happen.”Beyond just the nature of the rivalries, specific countries have their own internal dynamics that could determine different paths to the bomb, then subsequently the sort of strategy they project toward the world once they actually have that bomb.“It depends on how specific states will formulate the rules of the game under the threat of nuclear weapons in the Middle East. No one can promise it will be stable or necessarily cause additional proliferation.”That lack of certainty of what smaller states would do with their weapons - states with much more deeply-seeded rivalries based on battles over shared resources or land than the Americans and the Soviets had between each other over global influence or hegemony - is precisely what frightened political leaders in the early 1960s to push for a global arms control agreement to prevent nuclear proliferation, says Landau.“It was the main reason for the Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in the 1960s. There was a tremendous concern about these states being a source of nuclear instability in the world.”At the time, there might have been more concern over superpower allies like Turkey or Cuba, which were at the center of 1962’s Cuban Missile Crisis. If such states had their own weapons, would they feel the sense of responsibility that superpowers do, who have interests around the world? “Again, different states have gone nuclear for different reasons and that has an impact on how relationships (or rivalries) between nuclear states develop. All these things factor into how things will develop. Maybe Iran will be an ambiguous nuclear state like Israel is.”

Hamas: No Palestinian State Without Gaza-Haniyeh demands Gaza be part of peace talks and Jerusalem be part of 'Palestine,' as Hamas official denies ceasefire negotiation reports.By Dalit Halevy, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 4/6/2015, 3:17 PM-israelnationalnews

Hamas's deputy politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh, who previously was prime minister of Hamas's government, slammed how Gaza has been marginalized from the peace process after his terrorist group violently seized control of Gaza in 2007 after overwhelmingly winning in elections.Speaking in a telephone speech for a Hamas student rally at Al-Najah National University in Shechem (Nablus) on Sunday, Haniyeh said "the struggle in all its aspects is a strategic choice of the Hamas movement. The struggle has political, military, security, media, legal and public expressions.""There won't be a (Palestinian) state and there won't be any sort of state without Gaza, and there is no existence to a Palestinian state without Al-Quds," said Haniyeh, referencing the Arabic name for Jerusalem. The call for Gaza to be included in peace talks comes as Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas has been calling for renewed talks, after he torpedoed the last set of negotiations last April by signing a unity deal with Hamas - a "unity" that has been fraught with coup attempts and massive in-fighting between the two rivals. There have been many reports of negotiations for a three to five year ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel, but Ziyad Zaza, also a member of Hamas's political bureau, denied the reports.According to Zaza, the reports consist of statements made by international and local figures, but they haven't reached the level of plans and proposals. Therefore Hamas is not dealing with the topic until concrete proposals are formed, said Zaza, who called for all nations interested in intervening to submit official ceasefire proposals to Hamas. The reports on ceasefire deals were strengthened by the PA, which revealed last month that Israel decided to allow Portland cement into Gaza, reversing its ban on the dual-use materials despite evidence that Hamas is using such materials to rebuild its terror tunnel infrastructure.Leaked documents purportedly from the ceasefire negotiations indicated Hamas was demanding an ease of imports as part of the ceasefire extension.IDF Southern Command head General Sami Turgeman confirmed last week that Hamas has indeed started rebuilding its terror tunnels into Israel meant to attack Israeli civilian centers.

Abbas Rejects Tax Payments, Demands 'All or Nothing'-Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that the PA was rejecting Israel's offer of tax money collected on its behalf.By Yaakov Levi-First Publish: 4/5/2015, 11:15 PM-israelnationalnews

Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that the PA was rejecting Israel's offer of tax money that had been collected on its behalf. At issues is Israel's insistence on withholding part of the money in order to pay debts the PA owes to Israeli organizations and companies.Israel began withholding tax money that it collects for the PA on goods that are shipped through Ashdod port after the Palestinian Authority applied to join the International Criminal Court, a move that was consummated last week. The PA says that Israel owes it about $450 million, most of which Israel decided to release last week – less several tens of millions of dollars that the government plans to give to the Israel Electric Corporation and several other companies that the PA has refused to pay.The PA owes the IEC at least $450 million; it has not paid its electric bill for at least six years. Several months ago, the IEC cut some power to PA cities, but stopped that policy due to international protests.Speaking at a meeting of the Central Council of the Fatah terror group, Abbas said that the PA was not taking the money under these circumstances. “Either we get all the money or we go to arbitration or to the ICC,” he said.“Israel intends to make these deductions without Palestinian supervision, even though it is Palestinian money,” Abbas said last week. “This is unacceptable, and we will refuse to accept the money under these circumstances.” The PA will fight to get its money, if necessary taking the case to the ICC, which the PA became a member of this week, Abbas added.

Abbas: 'I Offer My Hand in Peace, Don't Cut It Off'-Palestinian Authority Chairman asks Israel to go back to the negotiating table, wants Arab states to intervene in Gaza.By Gil Ronen-First Publish: 4/4/2015, 8:42 PM-israelnationalnews

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas called on Israel Saturday to return to the negotiating table with the PA.In an interview with the Israeli Arabic website Al-Arab, Abbas said Israel stands to gain if it agrees to the “Arab peace initiative.”"I have no problem negotiating with Netanyahu because he represents the state of Israel,” he said. “My hand is always stretched out.”"We made great headway in the negotiations with [then-PM Ehud] Olmert, in which we discussed everything, and suddenly he was distanced from the political arena.”"We say to the nation in Israel: our hands are stretched out to coexistence between the two countries; do not chop off the hand that is stretched out in peace because the alternatives do not help anyone. The alternatives are destructive.”Abbas also asked that Arab countries intervene in Gaza to restore the rule of the PA there, instead of Hamas. “Resolute action should be taken, as happened in Yemen,” he said.Abbas's peaceful protestations come less than a week after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu accepted the recommendation of Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon, as well as the IDF and Shin Bet security service, and unfroze millions of dollars in tax revenue for the PA.The Prime Minister's Office confirmed that following the decision the funds would be transferred to the PA immediately, although it added it would deduct debts due for water, electricity and other unpaid bills. The PMO stated that the decision had been taken "based on humanitarian considerations and from a wider perspective the interests of Israel at this time."

HEBREWS 11:1-40
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2  For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3  Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4  By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7  By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9  By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10  For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11  Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
12  Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
13  These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14  For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15  And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16  But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
17  By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18  Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19  Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
20  By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21  By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
22  By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
23  By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
24  By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
25  Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26  Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
27  By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
28  Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29  By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
30  By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
31  By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
32  And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34  Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35  Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36  And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37  They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38  (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39  And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40  God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

GENESIS 5:18-24
18  And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

HEBREWS 11:5
5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

REVELATION 11:1-19 (THE 2 WITNESSES PREACH) (THE TRIBULATION CONTINUES)
1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God,(3RD TEMPLE IS REBUILT) and the altar, and them that worship therein.
2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles:(THE SAVED CHRISTIANS DURING THIS TIME TO WORSHIP FROM) and the holy city (JERUSALEM) shall they tread under foot forty and two months.(THE FIRST 3 1/2 YEARS OF THE TRIB)
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses,(ELIJAH,MOSES) and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them,(MOSES-ELIJAH) he must in this manner be killed.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony,(AT THE 3 1/2 YR MARK OF THE TRIB) the beast(WORLD DICTATOR) that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt,(JERUSALEM) where also our Lord was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12 And they(ELIJSH-MOSES) heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither.(REV 4:1 WE KNOW IS THE RAPTURE FOR SURE) And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.(RAPTURED)
13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
