GENESIS 7:6-12
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
GOD PROMISED BY A RAINBOW-THE EARTH WOULD NEVER BE DESTROYED TOTALLY WITH A FLOOD AGAIN.BUT FLOODIING IS A SIGN OF JUDGEMENT.

ISAIAH 30:26-27
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold,(7X OR 7-DEGREES HOTTER) as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people,(ISRAEL) and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

MATTHEW 24:21-22,29
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened,(DAY LIGHT HOURS SHORTENED) there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake (ISRAELS SAKE) those days shall be shortened (Daylight hours shortened)(THE ASTEROID HITS EARTH HERE)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

REVELATION 16:7-9
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

EZEKIEL 32:6-9
6  I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.
7  And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
8  All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.
9  I will also vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou hast not known.

REVELATION 16:3-7
3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.(enviromentalists won't like this result)
4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
6 For they(False World Church and Dictator and baby murderers by abortion) have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

Port-Cartier, Que., evacuees can return home after wildfire warning-City declared state of emergency due to wildfires-CBC News · Posted: Jun 24, 2024 2:52 PM EDT |

About 1,000 residents who were evacuated Thursday from their homes in Port-Cartier, on Quebec's North Shore, due to forest fires can now return home. However, the city has not lifted its state of emergency and Mayor Alain Thibault said the city may have to be evacuated again if the nearby fires don't get under control. Inmates at the local prison were also moved to other federal correctional facilities, though it's unclear when they will return to the Port-Cartier Institution.Mélanie Morin, a spokesperson for Quebec's forest fire agency SOPFEU, said the two nearby fires on the North Shore are still out of control, and hundreds of firefighters and a dozen water bombers are active. She said the rain and humidity forecasted Wednesday will help tame the fires. There is a ban on open fires and fireworks on Quebec's North Shore. Workers are also cutting down some trees near Port-Cartier to protect city infrastructure, said the city manager Nicolas Mayrand. Port-Cartier will see a heavy police presence from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) to ensure everything goes smoothly as people return home."It's in these critical moments that we really see the importance of community, mutual support and resilience of Port-Cartier's population," said Thibault at a news conference Monday. "Our priority is your safety and peace of mind." With files from Radio-Canada

Lightning sparks new fires in Labrador, raising total to 7, with all but 1 out of control-N.L.'s 4 water bombers are stationed in Labrador to monitor current fires and watch for new starts-Elizabeth Whitten · CBC News · Posted: Jun 14, 2024 10:04 AM EDT |

With seven wildfires burning in Labrador, six of them out of control, a provincial official says they're keeping an eye on the situation, both on the ground and from the air.The provincial fire hazard risk advisory lists the areas around Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Northwest River and up to Rigolet as under extreme fire warnings. Churchill Falls is under a very high warning."I'm anticipating it's going to be a busy couple of days, especially with the lightning in the area. So I encourage the public to remain vigilant," provincial forest fire duty officer Bryan Oke told CBC News on Friday. There are more than 14,000 hectares affected by the fires, he said."With the amount of activity here in the last couple of days, most fires — all fires — will be listed [as] out of control until we get an opportunity to suppress those fires and containing the boundaries and then go through the various levels of suppression."Oke said their priority is the Churchill Falls area because of the community and the airport. Crews prioritize their response to fires based on risk to public safety."We do anticipate for there to be smoke throughout the area today and around the airport area, which may impact air traffic," he said. One fire burning near Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro's Menihek Dam is affecting railway service but there's been no damage, he said. The Trans-Labrador Highway to Labrador West is open but Oke said that could change throughout the day depending on the fire."We'll currently be evaluating that again this morning to determine the traffic abilities here today."He added police may help co-ordinate traffic, road closures or evacuations if they are needed.A fire near Milner Lake West, about 100 kilometres north of Labrador City, is also listed as out of control. It's a larger fire, he said, but it's in a remote area.Lightning causes more fires-Oke said lightning in the area caused four new fires Thursday evening. Crews are on site evaluating them.He said conditions in the area are dry. Rain is anticipated Friday afternoon but so is more lightning, which is common in the area this time of year, he added."We'll be paying close attention to today as the day progresses," said Oke.At the moment, he said, provincial crews have the resources they need to contain the fires. With no fires currently burning in Newfoundland, the province's four water bombers are in Labrador, he said. Three are being used today near the active fires in the Churchill Falls area and Wabush, said Oke, but that could change as priorities shift. Water bombers will be in the area for the next few days and even weeks, depending on fire activity, he said.A typical fire season will see about 100 starts by this time of year, said Oke, but things are slower in 2024 with 20 wildfire starts so far. But that could change quickly, depending on the weather, he said.

16  When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:

18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

ISAIAH 24:17-23 KJV
17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

20 They will fall among those slain by the sword. The sword is appointed! Let them drag her away along with all her multitudes.
21 Mighty chiefs will speak from the midst of Sheol about Egypt and her allies: ‘They have come down and lie with the uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.’
22 Assyria (SYRIA) is there with her whole company; her graves are all around her. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword.
23 Her graves are set in the depths of the Pit, and her company is all around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword—those who once spread terror in the land of the living.
24 Elam (IRAN) is there with all her multitudes around her grave. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword—those who went down uncircumcised to the earth below, who once spread their terror in the land of the living. They bear their disgrace with those who descend to the Pit.
25 Among the slain they prepare a resting place for Elam with all her hordes, with her graves all around her. DR SAMUEL DOCTORIANS VISION - SECOND ANGEL: MIDDLE EAST
Then I saw that the second angel had a sickle in his hand, such as is used in harvesting. The second angel said: "Harvest time has come in Israel and the countries all the way to Iran."I saw those countries in a few split seconds."All of Turkey and those [inaudible] countries that have refused me and refused my message of love shall hate each other and kill one another."I saw the angel raise the sickle and come down on all the Middle East countries. I saw Iran, Persia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, all of Georgia - Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, all of Asia Minor - full of blood. I saw blood all over these countries. And I saw fire; Nuclear weapons used in many of those countries. Smoke rising from everywhere. Sudden destruction – men destroying one another. I heard these words:"Israel, Oh Israel, the great judgment has come." The angel said, "The chosen, the church, the remnant, shall be purified. The Spirit of God shall prepare the children of God."I saw fires rising to heaven. The angel said: "This is the final judgment. My church shall be purified, protected and ready for the final day. Men will die from thirst. Water shall be scarce all over the Middle East. Rivers shall dry up, and men will fight for water in those countries. "The angel showed me that the United Nations shall be broken in pieces because of the crisis in the Middle East. There shall be no more United Nations. The angel with the sickle shall reap the harvest.

Iran’s ‘Hamster’ crypto craze highlights economic malaise ahead of presidential vote-Analysts say app’s popularity a sign of desperation in face of rocketing cost of living; Ukrainian authorities also concerned about game, saying data is stored in Russia-By Jon Gambrell and Nasser Karimi Today, 10:24 am-JUN 24,24

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Cab drivers and bikers tap away furiously on their mobile phones as they wait at red lights in the Iranian capital during an early June heatwave. Some pedestrians in Tehran are doing the same. They all believe they could get rich. The object of their rapt attention? The “Hamster Kombat” app.A wider crypto craze aside, the app’s rise in Iran highlights a harsher truth facing the Islamic Republic ahead of Friday’s presidential election to replace late president Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash in May: an economy hobbled by Western sanctions, stubbornly high inflation and a lack of jobs.Even as presidential candidates make promises about restoring the country’s economy, Iranians, who have been hearing for years about bitcoin, are now piling into this app out of sheer hope it might one day pay off — without knowing much about who is behind it.“It’s a sign of being desperate, honestly,” said Amir Rashidi, the director of digital rights and security at the Miaan Group who is an expert on Iran. It’s about “trying to hang on to anything you have a tiny hope that might some day turn to something valuable.”Those able to divest from holdings in Iran’s beleaguered currency, the rial, have purchased property, art, vehicles, precious metals and other hard assets since the collapse of Tehran’s 2015 nuclear deal with world powers. At the time of the deal, the exchange rate was 32,000 rials to $1. Today, it’s nearing 580,000 rials to the dollar — and many have found the value of their bank accounts, retirement funds and other holdings gouged by years of rapid depreciation. Meanwhile, prices of fruits and vegetables have jumped 50% since last year while the price of meat has risen 70%. The cost of a ride in a shared taxi, common in the Iranian capital, has almost doubled. Even rides in Tehran’s Metro, still the cheapest option for the city’s commuters, are up some 30%.“Since morning, I had three visitors to my shop, none of them bought anything,” said Mohammad Reza Tabrizi, who runs a clothing shop in downtown Tehran. “Most customers prefer buying from peddlers or pre-owned items in other places.”In underground walkways and other areas of the city, peddlers sell nearly anything they can get their hands on. It’s this desperate environment that has seen the public’s interest in cryptocurrency and mobile games offering coins rise. The proliferation of smartphones across Iran, as well as the relatively low cost of mobile service compared to other nations, makes accessing apps like “Hamster Kombat” attractive. The app is accessed through the messaging app Telegram, which remains popular in Iran despite efforts by the authorities trying to block access to it. It functions like an incremental or a “clicker” game — users repeatedly click on an object or complete repetitive tasks to earn points. In “Hamster Kombat,” users believe they may be able to access a purported cryptocurrency associated with the game that’s still not traded publicly. In an email, individuals describing themselves as the game’s developers declined to answer questions about their identities or business plans, but insisted they were “not offering any cryptocurrency in the game.”“We are educating our audience about crypto through gaming mechanics,” the email claimed.Still, the game resembles another app that did offer Iranians cryptocurrency in the past — and it seems that just the promise of what could be free money can drive some Iranians to distraction.Jokes online show one man tapping on a gravestone as if it were a mobile phone. Another uses a massage gun to rapidly punch a Hamster on the screen. But the public’s fascination with the game has also drawn the attention of authorities.Rear Adm. Habibollah Sayyari, the deputy chief of Iran’s military, described the app as part of the West’s “soft war” against Iran’s theocracy ahead of the election.“One of the features of the soft war by the enemy is the ‘Hamster’ game,” Sayyari said, according to the state-run IRNA news agency. He theorized that the “enemy” is popularizing the game so that people would be distracted and not “pay attention to plans of presidential candidates.”“Then (the people) fail to choose the best candidates,” Sayyari said. Hardline pundits in Iran have voiced similar opinions. The daily JameJam, published by Iran’s state television, also warned the ever-increasing interest in the game was a sign of “the dream of becoming rich overnight and gaining wealth without effort.” It said those playing range from “builders, mechanics and refrigerator repairmen to colleagues and classmates in university.”“A society that instead of working and trying to succeed and earn money turns to such games and looks for shortcuts and windfalls gradually loses the culture of effort and entrepreneurship and moves towards convenience,” the newspaper said, without acknowledging that the country’s economic woes were potentially driving the interest in the app.The app has even drawn the attention of a 97-year-old Shiite religious scholar, Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, who is known for his fatwas declaring things “haram,” or “forbidden,” from his office in the holy city of Qom, Iran’s center of Shiite learning, packed with religious schools and revered shrines.Calling cryptocurrency “the source of many abuses,” Shirazi said people shouldn’t use the “Hamster Kombat” app or others like it involving bitcoin.Iran isn’t alone in having concerns about the game.Authorities in Ukraine, locked in a devastating war with Iranian-armed Russia since Moscow’s 2022 invasion, warned that users’ data remains stored in Russia and could potentially put them at risk. Then there’s the wider risk of malware exposure as consumers in Iran often cannot purchase new software legally or even access legitimate app stores. They also face the risk of state-sponsored hackers targeting them for their political views.Meanwhile, as Iran’s election campaign goes on, presidential candidates are using Instagram, X and Telegram — all services previously banned by the theocracy after rounds of nationwide protests.“As long as you are able to pay the price, everything is available,” said Rashidi, the Iran expert.

Iran liable to join fight if Israel takes on Hezbollah, US warns-Forecasting far-reaching fallout in case of full-blown conflict, top general says America likely can’t provide same air defense help as it did against Iranian barrage in April-By Agencies Today, 10:12 am-JUN 24,24

ESPARGOS, Cape Verde — The top US military officer warned on Sunday that any Israeli military offensive into Lebanon would risk an Iranian response in defense of the powerful Hezbollah terror group there, and that US forces would be challenged to bolster Israel’s air defense umbrella.Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown, chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Iran “would be more inclined to support Hezbollah” than it does the Hamas terror group in Gaza, “particularly if they felt that Hezbollah was being significantly threatened.”Brown spoke to reporters as he traveled to Botswana for a meeting of African defense ministers.Israeli officials have threatened a military offensive in Lebanon if there is no negotiated move to push Hezbollah away from the border, after more than eight months of increasingly intense attack on towns and military posts in northern Israel.Just days ago, Israel’s military said it had “approved and validated” plans for an offensive in Lebanon, even as the US works to prevent the fighting from spiraling into a full-blown war.The issue is expected to come up this week as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant visits Washington for meetings with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other senior US officials.US President Joe Biden’s senior adviser Amos Hochstein met with officials in Lebanon and Israel last week in an effort to de-escalate tensions.Hochstein told reporters in Beirut on Tuesday that it was a “very serious situation” and that a diplomatic solution to prevent a larger war was urgently needed.Brown said the US wouldn’t likely be able to help Israel defend itself against a broader Hezbollah war in as effective a manner as it helped Israel fight off an Iranian barrage of missiles and drones in April. It is harder to fend off the shorter-range rockets that Hezbollah fires routinely across the border into Israel, he said.Asked if the US has changed its force posture in the region to better assure troops are protected, he said the safety of the force has been a priority all along and noted that no US bases have been attacked since February. The US continues to talk with Israeli leaders and warn against widening the conflict, according to Brown.A key message being passed to them is “to think about the second order of effect of any type of operation into Lebanon, and how that might play out and how it impacts not just the region, but how it impacts our forces in regions as well,” he said.Pentagon officials have said that Austin also raised concerns about a broader conflict when he spoke to Gallant in a recent phone call.“Given the amount of rocket fire we’ve seen going from both sides of the border, we’ve certainly been concerned about that situation, and both publicly and privately have been urging all parties to restore calm along that border, and again, to seek a diplomatic solution,” said Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary, last week.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, and in recent weeks have staged attacks deeper inside northern Israel while threatening sensitive infrastructure in the major city of Haifa. The attacks have drawn a limited Israeli air campaign against the terror group and some of its top commanders in southern Lebanon. The skirmishes on the border have resulted in 10 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 15 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.Hezbollah has named 349 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing fighting, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 64 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have been killed.A war between the two heavily armed foes could be devastating to both countries and incur mass civilian casualties. Hezbollah’s rocket arsenal is believed to be far more extensive than Hamas’s.Hezbollah, Iran’s most important proxy in the region, says its attacks are aimed at supporting Hamas. Israel launched an offensive against the Palestinian terror group in Gaza after it attacked Israel in a shock onslaught on October 7, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostage. An escalation in the conflict could also trigger wider involvement by other Iran-backed terror groups in the region.Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech Wednesday that leaders of terror groups and militias from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and other countries have previously offered to send tens of thousands of fighters to help Hezbollah, but he said the group already has more than 100,000 fighters.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

Israel carries out rocket engine test over Mediterranean-Trial launch of unspecified system appears to originate from Palmachim air base; authorities say exercise scheduled in advance, amid rising tensions on northern border-By Emanuel Fabian-Today, 3:57 pm-JUN 24,24

A test of a rocket engine was carried out early Monday from a military base in central Israel, the Defense Ministry said. The ministry said in a statement the rocket propulsion system test went off “as planned,” but did not provide other details about the exercise or the type of missile fired.Footage posted to social media showed a projectile streaking through the sky above central Israel with white smoke trailing behind it.Based on eyewitness accounts, the rocket test took place at the Palmachim air base, outside the city of Rishon Lezion south of Tel Aviv. The missile test came as fears have ramped up over Israel’s war against the Hamas terror group in Gaza escalating into a full-scale conflict with Iran-backed terror organization Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Defense Ministry said the test had been planned ahead of time, indicating it was not tied to rising tensions on Israel’s border with Lebanon.Reports of a missile launch over southern Israel. pic.twitter.com/W5cfg8PsqR— Emanuel (Mannie) Fabian (@manniefabian) June 24, 2024-The Palmachim base is often used for missile tests. An unconfirmed report online indicated that an Israeli telemetry plane was tracking the rocket test from Malta, suggesting the projectile may have been one intended for long-range use.Israel has been developing a host of missile systems, many of them defensive, and some — according to foreign reports — offensive.War broke out with Hamas on October 7, when some 3,000 terrorists invaded southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the Israel-Lebanon border on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gaza amid the war there.Israel has responded with airstrikes on Hezbollah’s operatives and infrastructure, and has vowed to ensure that the terror group withdraw its forces north of the Litani river, as demanded by a 2006 United Nations Security Council resolution.Times of Israel staff contributed to this report.

Russia blames US for missile attack on Crimea-Russia blames US for missile attack on Crimea-by AFP Staff Writers

Moscow (AFP) June 23, 2024-Russia on Sunday said the United States had responsibility for a Ukrainian missile attack on Russian-annexed Crimea, which it said killed four people, including two children, and wounded over 100.A missile exploded above a beach area of the city of Sevastopol, firing shrapnel at people relaxing there, Russian-appointed officials said.Russia's defence ministry said Washington and Kyiv bore "responsibility for a deliberate missile strike on peaceful residents", which it said used US-supplied ATACMS missiles.Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozhayev initially said in a Telegram video the attack had killed three children and two adults, and wounded nearly 120 people. He later revised the toll to four dead and 151 people requiring medical care, of whom 82 had been hospitalised.Russian President Vladimir Putin had called to "offer his condolences", Razvozhayev added. The Black Sea port city and naval base on the Crimean peninsula was annexed by Russia in 2014 but is still internationally recognised as part of Ukraine.Sevastopol regularly comes under fire from Ukraine but Sunday's attack was unusually deadly. Razvozhayev said the attack hit Uchkuyevka, an area with sandy beaches and hotels.Videos posted on social media showed people running from the beach as explosions went off and people in swimming outfits carrying a stretcher. AFP could not verify their authenticity.A local news channel on Telegram, ChP Sevastopol, cited witnesses as saying that an elderly woman was killed as she swam in the sea.Washington said in April that it had provided longer-range ATACMS missile systems to Kyiv, which had long urged allies for weapons allowing it to strike Russia farther beyond the front lines.Neither the United States nor Ukraine had commented on the Sevastopol strike.- 'Terrorist act' -The investigative committee, which probes major crimes, said it was opening an investigation into "a terrorist act".The governor said Ukraine had launched five missiles that Russian air-defences intercepted over the sea but fragments fell onto the shore, wounding people.Razvozhayev said shrapnel hit beach areas in the north of the city and set fire to a house and woodland.A Russian defence ministry statement said Ukraine had committed a "terrorist attack on the civilian infrastructure of Sevastopol with US-supplied ATACMS tactical missiles loaded with cluster warheads".The ministry said four missiles were downed but a fifth changed trajectory after being intercepted "with its warhead exploding in the air over the city".It added that "all flight missions for US ATACMS are entered by US specialists based on the US's own satellite reconnaissance data."Such actions will not be left without a response," the ministry said.Ukraine's military has not commented on the attack, which came a day after a Russian guided bomb strike on the city of Kharkiv hit an apartment building, killing two people and wounding more than 50.- Deaths in Belgorod, Russia -On Sunday, Russian strikes hit a house and a children's educational facility in Kharkiv, killing one person and injuring 10 including two teenagers, regional governor Oleg Synegubov said.In the Belgorod region on Sunday, three Ukrainian attack drones struck Graivoron, near the border with Ukraine, said governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, with one hitting a car park near a multi-storey block of flats."A peaceful civilian was killed. The man died from his wounds at the spot" and three people were wounded, Gladkov wrote on Telegram.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a social media post urged supporter countries to help Ukraine step up attacks on Russian soil."We have enough determination to destroy terrorists on their territory -- it is only fair -- and we need the same determination from our partners. We can stop Russia," Zelensky wrote. In his evening address he added: "The recent approval of strikes on Russian territory -- near the border -- made it possible to destroy part of Russia's terrorist potential."But, he said, "we need more long-range weapons, we need appropriate weapons for Ukrainians".Ukraine's energy operator Ukrenergo announced that rolling electricity blackouts would be imposed nationwide throughout Monday because of increased Russian attacks on power stations.

Fatah postpones Palestinian unity meeting with Hamas in China, no new date set-With the factions deeply divided, analysts had held out little hope of talks achieving a breakthrough toward a reconciliation deal-By Reuters and ToI Staff Today, 5:08 pm-JUN 24,24

Reconciliation talks between Hamas and Fatah due to be held in China this month have been delayed and no new date has been set, officials of the Palestinian factions told Reuters on Monday. After hosting a meeting of Palestinian factions in April, China said Fatah — which is led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas — and Hamas had expressed the will to seek reconciliation through unity talks in Beijing. Fatah and Hamas officials had previously said the meeting would take place in mid-June.With the factions deeply divided, analysts had held out little hope of the talks achieving a breakthrough toward a reconciliation deal that could create a unified Palestinian administration for the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.Senior Hamas official Basem Naim, who had attended the previous meeting, told Reuters the meeting was postponed and no new date had been set for another meeting, blaming Fatah, which, he said, had requested the delay.Three Fatah officials confirmed the postponement, speaking on condition of anonymity and saying the movement was going to issue a statement on the issue.Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip from Fatah, which administers the West Bank, in a 2007 coup. International efforts since then have failed to reconcile the two faIn March, Russia hosted the two groups, along with other Palestinian factions, to discuss the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, and governance plans for an eventual postwar period. That same month, Fatah accused Hamas of returning the “Israeli occupation” to Gaza through its “October 7 adventure,” calling this a worse catastrophe than that caused by the establishment of Israel in 1948.War erupted in Gaza after Hamas’s October 7 massacre, which saw terrorists burst across the border into Israel, murdering some 1,200 people and seizing 251 hostages. The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 37,500 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and terrorists. Israel says it has killed some 15,000 combatants in battle and some 1,000 terrorists inside Israel during the October 7 attack.

Death toll rises to 20 in shooting attack in Russia’s Dagestan-Head of region visits targeted church and synagogue, declares ‘sleeper cells’ directed from abroad were behind attack that also injured 46, but gives no further details-By Agencies Today, 5:30 pm-JUN 24,24

MOSCOW – The death toll from a series of brazen attacks on churches and synagogues in Russia’s mainly Muslim region of Dagestan rose to 20 on Monday after gunmen went on the rampage in coordinated attacks in two of the republic’s most important cities.“As a result of the terrorist attack that took place yesterday in Makhachkala and Derbent, 46 people were injured, among them civilians and law enforcement officials,” Dagestan’s health minister Tatyana Belyayeva said. “Unfortunately, 20 people had been killed,” she added, updating a previous toll of 19.Gunmen with automatic weapons burst into an Orthodox church and a synagogue in the ancient city of Derbent on Sunday evening, setting fire to an icon at the church and killing a 66-year-old Orthodox priest, Nikolai Kotelnikov. In the city of Makhachkala, about 125 kilometers (75 miles) north on the Caspian Sea shore, attackers shot at a traffic police post and attacked a church and another synagogue.Gun battles erupted around the Assumption Cathedral in Makhachkala and heavy automatic gunfire rang out late into the night. Footage showed residents running for cover as plumes of smoke rose above the city. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Russia’s investigative committee initially said 15 policemen and four civilians were killed. It was not immediately clear if the 20th fatality was a security officer or a civilian. According to Dagestan’s healthcare ministry, 46 more people were wounded. At least five attackers were killed, some were shown by local media shot dead on the pavement.“This is a day of tragedy for Dagestan and the whole country,” said Sergei Melikov, the head of the Dagestan region, who on Monday visited the synagogue and church that were attacked in Derbent.Melikov blamed members of Islamic “sleeper cells” directed from abroad but didn’t give any other details. He said in a video statement that the assailants aimed at “sowing panic and fear,” and attempted to link the attack to Moscow’s military action in Ukraine — but also provided no evidence.“This is an attempt to cleave apart our unity,” he said. The affiliate of the Islamic State group in Afghanistan that claimed responsibility for a March theater massacre in Moscow quickly praised the attack in Dagestan, saying it was conducted by “brothers in the Caucasus who showed that they are still strong.”The Washington-based Institute for the Study of War argued that the Islamic State group’s North Caucasus branch, Vilayat Kavkaz, likely was behind the attack, describing it as “complex and coordinated.”Dagestan announced three days of mourning. Photos of the dead policemen were lined up on the street by red carnations.President Vladimir Putin, who has long accused the West of trying to stoke separatism in the Caucasus, has yet to comment.Dagestan is a mainly Muslim republic of Russia’s North Caucasus, a patchwork of ethnic groups, languages, and regions that live in the shadow of the Caucasus mountains between the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea.Dagestan-The attack on Christian and Jewish places of worship stoked fears Russia may be facing a renewed militant Islamist threat just three months after a deadly attack in Moscow. In the Moscow attack, 145 people were killed at the Crocus concert hall, an attack claimed by Islamic State. In October, after the war in Gaza broke out, rioters waving Palestinian flags broke down glass doors and rampaged through Makhachkala airport to look for Jewish passengers on a flight arriving from Tel Aviv.Israel’s foreign ministry said the synagogue in Derbent had been burned to the ground and shots had been fired at a second synagogue in Makhachkala. The statement said it was believed there were no worshippers in the synagogue at the time.Derbent, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, is home to an ancient Jewish community and a UNESCO World Heritage site.Russian investigators said it was a “terrorist” attack but did not give details of the attackers.Russia’s state media cited law enforcement as saying two sons of Magomed Omarov, the head of central Dagestan’s Sergokala district, were among the attackers in Dagestan. They were killed and their father was detained, state media said.June 24 to 26 have been declared days of mourning in Dagestan, Melikov said, with flags lowered to half-mast and all entertainment events canceled. The Russian Empire expanded into the Caucasus in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, but an insurgency after the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union led to two wars.In August 1999, Chechen fighter Shamil Basayev led fighters into Dagestan in a bid to aid Dagestani Wahhabist fundamentalists, triggering a major bombing campaign by the Russian military ahead of the Second Chechen War.

Ex-chief rabbi of Moscow blames Russian government neglect for Dagestan attack-Pinchas Goldschmidt, who fled Russia in 2022, says Putin’s government is focused on repressing dissent, not national security, after 19 killed in terror attack-By Reuters and ToI Staff Today, 4:50 pm-JUN 24,24

The exiled former chief rabbi of Moscow has accused Russian authorities of leaving Jews and other citizens vulnerable to attacks like Sunday’s gun rampages by turning the state’s security apparatus on Kremlin critics instead of terrorist threats.Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt was speaking after gunmen killed 19 people in the mainly Muslim region of Dagestan in southern Russia in attacks on churches, synagogues and the police.“The Russian authorities during the last years have used the law enforcement authorities to repress any kind of opposition to the Kremlin, opposition to the war and any movements like the LGBT movement which was declared as extremist. People are sent to prison for criticizing the war,” Goldschmidt said in a video interview from Berlin.“So instead of using law enforcement and the interior ministry and FSB (security service) to provide security for Russian citizens, it’s being used to eradicate any opposition to the regime. And here we see the results, that such terrorists like ISIS are able to again and again mount successful attacks against houses of worship, against cultural events.”Investigators have yet to establish who was behind Sunday’s attack but Islamic State has an established presence in Russia’s North Caucasus region, which includes Dagestan.Simultaneous, coordinated strikes by gunmen who are prepared to die while conducting marauding attacks are a hallmark of the terror group, which claimed responsibility for a massacre of 145 people attending a concert near Moscow in March.“The most probable perpetrator is Islamic State,” Riccardo Valle, an expert on the group, said of the latest attacks. “Islamic State has the means and capabilities, and it also has a foothold in the area,” he told Reuters.Putin offers condolences-The Kremlin said President Vladimir Putin expressed his deep condolences over Sunday’s attacks, but it has not commented on who was to blame or why authorities failed to stop them.Goldschmidt condemned the attack and said he was praying for the victims — who included an Orthodox priest — and their families. He said it appeared two synagogues were attacked, in the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala. Both were empty of worshipers at the time.In Derbent, a security guard outside the synagogue was killed and the attackers tried to burn it down, he said. In Makhachkala, “we heard (the synagogue) was attacked by gunmen and there were shots.”The rabbi said the attacks marked a “continuation of the very active antisemitism” that the region had witnessed last October, when rioters waving Palestinian flags rampaged through Makhachkala airport to hunt for Jewish passengers on a flight arriving from Tel Aviv. The October riot came after war broke out between Israel and the terror group Hamas, when thousands of terrorists invaded southern Israel, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages. Israel vowed in response to destroy Hamas, free those taken hostage, and prevent Gaza from posing a threat to Israel in the future.Dagestan has a Jewish population of just a few thousand, descendants of the so-called mountain Jews who have lived there for over 2,000 years, Goldschmidt said. Most had left since the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, with a new wave following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.Goldschmidt said the climate for Jews in Russia had worsened as a result of the Ukraine and Gaza wars. Among other factors, he cited Russia’s repeated slurs against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Jewishness.Goldschmidt, who is president of the Conference of European Rabbis, said there were a million Jews in Moscow alone when he first arrived in Russia in 1989, but now there are no more than 100,000 in the whole of the country. He himself left Russia soon after the start of the war against Ukraine and has encouraged more Jews to follow his example rather than stay on in what he called a “semi-totalitarian” country.“Tens of thousands of Jews left, and I’m happy they left,” he said. “We are worried for all of those who are still there.”

Anti-Muslim attacks in Germany double, but not being dealt with, NGO says-Similarly to antisemitic incidents, anti-Muslim sentiment in the country has spiked in the wake of October 7-By Sarah Marsh Today, 7:33 pm-JUN 24,24

BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) — Attempted arson on a mosque in Bochum that had been marked with a swastika, the door of a Muslim family in Saxony shot at by a right-wing extremist neighbor, a woman pushed onto train tracks in Berlin after being asked if she belonged to Hamas. These are some of the record 1,926 anti-Muslim incidents registered in Germany last year by the CLAIM network of NGOs monitoring Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred. The number marked a 114 percent increase in 2023, with incidents shooting up in particular after the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel from Gaza.Yet authorities are paying insufficient attention to this phenomenon, and even denying its existence, as mainstream parties take over policies of far-right, anti-Islam parties that have surged in popularity, Rima Hanano told a Berlin news conference on Monday to present the report. The Alternative for Germany (AfD), which states in its program that Islam does not belong to Germany, has jumped to second place in polls over the past year, prompting mainstream parties to talk tougher on migration.“The streets, buses or mosques are no longer safe places for people who are Muslim or perceived as such,” said Hanano. “Anti-Muslim racism was never as socially acceptable as today and it comes from the middle of society.”The incidents recorded, likely only a fraction of the total, given a fear of coming forward and a lack of monitoring institutions, included 90 attacks on Islamic religious sites, cemeteries, and other institutions, CLAIM wrote. Most attacks on individuals consisted of verbal abuse and were aimed at women. There were also four attempted murders. The Muslim population in Germany has been growing rapidly, especially since an influx of migrants in 2015-16, tallying 5.5 million in total or 6.6% of the overall population.Islamaphobic incidents soar-The CLAIM report tallies with a 140% increase in Islamophobic crimes last year recorded by the interior ministry, and a survey showing one in two Germans hold Islamophobic views.According to the German government and NGOs, antisemitism also rose following Israel’s devastating military incursion into the Gaza Strip after the October 7 cross-border attack by Hamas-led Palestinian Islamist terrorists in which they murdered some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took 251 hostages. In a country that is particularly sensitive about antisemitism due to its responsibility for the Holocaust, German authorities have been more vocal in denouncing that problem than they have been regarding anti-Muslim incidents.Economy Minister Robert Habeck, in an emotive video, accused some Muslim community groups in Germany of being “too hesitant” in distancing themselves from Hamas or anti-Jewish hatred. The government last year published its first-ever independent report on Islamophobia by experts it commissioned, with a series of recommendations for tackling discrimination.Family Minister Lisa Paus has said the recent rise in both anti-Muslim and antisemitic incidents was “dramatic” and the government was trying to do prevention work from an early age by funding civil society projects working on the issue.CLAIM’s Hanano said, however, that insufficient action had been taken so far.“Despite the fact… that we have been warning about this situation for years, it is still barely acknowledged,” she said. “What we really need is the political will to truly fight anti-Muslim racism.”

Lebanese minister denies Hezbollah weapons at Beirut airport-by AFP Staff Writers

Beirut (AFP) June 23, 2024-Lebanon's transport minister denied on Sunday that Hezbollah was storing weapons at Beirut airport, as fears grow of all-out war between the militant group and Israel.Ali Hamieh called a press conference to deny the allegations of "absurd articles" in the media, and attacked the British daily The Telegraph. The newspaper said the Shiite militant group is storing missiles and rockets at the airport, where "whistleblowers" had reported the arrival of "unusually big boxes".Backed by Iran, Hezbollah has been exchanging near-daily fire with Israeli forces in support of its ally, Hamas. The Palestinian movement has been at war with Israel since October 7 when Hamas militants from Gaza attacked southern Israel."I am holding this press conference to clarify that everything that has been written in The Telegraph is false and to say that there are no weapons entering or leaving Beirut airport," Hamieh told journalists. He spoke from Beirut International Airport, located in an area south of the capital where Hezbollah is influential.Hamieh invited ambassadors and journalists to inspect the airport on Monday morning in a visit "open to all"The Lebanese air transport union condemned in a statement "simply erroneous statements and lies aimed at endangering Beirut airport and its employees, all civilians, and those who frequent it."Israel has for years accused Hezbollah of keeping precision rockets and missiles in different installations throughout Lebanon, including on a site near Beirut airport.Hezbollah denies this.More than eight months of exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces have left 480 people dead in Lebanon, mostly fighters, but also 93 civilians, according to an AFP tally.Israeli authorities say at least 15 soldiers and 11 civilians have been killed in the country's north.Cross-border exchanges and tension have escalated over the past two weeks after an Israeli air strike killed a senior Hezbollah commander.

Reporters denied access to Beirut airport area where weapons suspected to be stored-Tour of Rafic Hariri airport aimed at disproving allegations Hezbollah uses it to stock missiles is cut short as authorities keep journalists outside one of the buildings-By Gianluca Pacchiani-Today, 4:13 pm-JUN 24,24

A tour of Beirut airport arranged for journalists and ambassadors on Monday to prove that Hezbollah is not using it to store weapons was interrupted as reporters and cameramen were prevented from entering a cargo-handling area. The Saudi news outlet Al-Hadath reported that Lebanese authorities banned media coverage from inside a building on the premises of the capital’s Rafic Hariri International Airport. The tour had been arranged by Beirut’s Hezbollah-affiliated Minister of Public Works and Transport Ali Hamieh to disprove a Sunday report by the British paper The Telegraph that said the Shiite terror group has stockpiled weapons coming from Iran at  the site. The weapons reportedly include ballistic missiles, unguided artillery rockets, and laser-guided anti-tank guided missiles, as well as a highly explosive and toxic white powder known as RDX.In response to the allegations, Hamieh held a press conference at the airport on Sunday, dismissing the “ridiculous” allegations and inviting journalists and ambassadors to take a tour of the airport’s facilities the following morning, to prove that “there is nothing to hide,” Lebanese media quoted the minister as saying.During Monday’s tour, dozens of journalists and ambassadors were initially accompanied through a goods inspection area of the airport, but when they arrived at the following stop, the air cargo center, only diplomats were allowed inside the facility due to “organizational issues,” while journalists were prevented from entering by airport security and left outside, according to an Al-Hadath reporter. The tour ended with Hamieh escorting the diplomats to the exit of the compound, the report said. Among them were ambassadors from the EU, Iran, Mexico and various Arab countries. The report in The Telegraph on the presence of a weapons cache at Rafic Hariri International was based on revelations from airport staff, who said that weapons arrive at the airport on flights from Iran in “mysterious large boxes.”According to the whistleblowers, the shipments from Iran have increased dramatically since the start of the war in Gaza, leading to fears that the airport could become a military target if war erupted between Israel and Hezbollah.“If they keep bringing in these goods I’m not allowed to check, I really believe I’ll die from the explosion or I’ll die from Israel bombing ‘the goods,’” one of the whistleblowers said. “It’s not just us, it’s the ordinary people, the people coming in and out, going on holiday. If the airport is bombed, Lebanon is finished.”One of the whistleblowers also said he had been seeing Wafiq Safa, a top Hezbollah commander and interlocutor with Lebanese security forces, come to customs frequently since October 7, and that he has close ties with the customs managers.“I feel like if we don’t do what they say, our families will be in danger,” the whistleblower said. The Hezbollah lawmaker said at the airport Sunday that his office was in the process of filing a lawsuit against The Telegraph over the report, adding that details of the lawsuit would be “announced later.”Israeli officials have threatened a military offensive in Lebanon in the absence of a negotiated move to push Hezbollah away from the border, after more than eight months of increasingly intense attacks on towns and military posts in northern Israel.Days ago, Israel’s military said it had “approved and validated” plans for an offensive in Lebanon, even as the US works to prevent the fighting from spiraling into a full-blown war.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday he hoped a diplomatic solution could be reached but he would solve the problem “in a different way” if needed. On Sunday, US Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown, chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned that any Israeli military offensive into Lebanon would risk an Iranian response in defense of the powerful Hezbollah group there, and that US forces would be challenged to bolster Israel’s air defense umbrella.Iran “would be more inclined to support Hezbollah” than it does the Hamas terror group in Gaza, “particularly if they felt that Hezbollah was being significantly threatened,” Brown said.A top Iranian army commander threatened on Sunday that a harsh response awaits Israel should it invade Lebanon.“Should the Zionist regime launch an attack on Lebanon and initiate a broad conflict with Hezbollah, the Axis of Resistance will not remain passive. A harsh and decisive response will be delivered to counter the Zionists’ malice,” said Kioumars Heydari, commander of Tehran’s army ground forces, according to reports in the Iranian media.Heydari further stated that Tehran’s April 13 unprecedented aerial assault, in which it launched hundreds of missiles and drones against Israel in retaliation for the killing of a top Iranian commander in Damascus, “altered many old strategic formulas, leading to a new reality in the region,” and that Iran is emerging as a significant regional power.

Attack targets ship farther away from Houthis’ Yemen base than most previous assaults-Iran-backed group does not immediately claim responsibility for explosion near vessel southeast of Nishtun, close to Yemen’s border with Oman-By Jon Gambrell Today, 1:10 pm-JUN 24,24

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A possible attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Monday targeted a ship further away from nearly all of the previous assaults they’ve launched in the Gulf of Aden, officials said, potentially part of a widening escalation by the group. The attack comes as the US has sent the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower back home after an eight-month deployment in which it led the American response to the Houthi assaults. Those attacks have reduced shipping drastically through a route crucial to Asian, Middle East and European markets, in a campaign the Houthis say will continue as long as the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip rages on.The attack happened Monday morning in the Gulf of Aden some 450 kilometers (280 miles) southeast of Nishtun, a town in the far reaches of Yemen that’s close to the border with Oman, according to the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center. That region for long has been held by forces allied to Yemen’s exiled government, which has battled the Houthis since the rebels took the capital, Sanaa, back in 2014.The attack was just off to the northeast of Yemen’s Socotra Island, also held by allies of the exiled government.“The master of a merchant vessel reports an explosion in close proximity to the vessel,” the UKMTO said. “The crew are reported safe and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call.”It offered no other immediate information about the attack.Suspicion immediately fell on the Houthis, who did not immediately claim the assault. It can take the rebels hours or even days to acknowledge their attacks. Somali pirates have been known to operate in the region as well, though they typically seize vessels for ransom rather than launch attacks against them. However, the attack happened near the outer reaches of the Gulf of Aden where it becomes the Arabian Sea and then ultimately the Indian Ocean. Of the more than 60 attacks launched by the Houthis since November that specifically targeted vessels, this would be one of the furthest. In May, a Portuguese-flagged container ship came under attack by a drone in the far reaches of the Arabian Sea in an attack claimed by the Houthis. However, the distance at which it was struck led experts to question whether Iran, the Houthis’ main benefactor, could have launched the attack. The Houthis have claimed attacks later assessed to have been conducted by Iran, including the 2019 attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil fields that temporarily halved the kingdom’s energy production. The Houthis have made a series of claims without evidence they’ve targeted vessels at even greater distances, even though there’s been no independent confirmation of any of those attacks actually taking place. The rebels have fired off other missiles and drones in their campaign that has killed a total of four sailors. They have seized one vessel and sunk two since November. A US-led airstrike campaign has targeted the Houthis since January, with a series of strikes on May 30 killing at least 16 people and wounding 42 others, the rebels say.The Houthis have maintained that their attacks target ships linked to Israel, the United States or Britain. However, many of the ships attacked have little or no connection to the Israel-Hamas war — some of them bound for Iran.

After ‘unacceptable’ Hezbollah threats, European ministers fear Middle East escalation-Greek foreign minister says Athens stands by Cyprus after Nasrallah warned island nation could be targeted; EU policy chief says it is ‘eve of the war expanding’-By Agencies and ToI Staff Today, 12:10 pm-JUN 24,24

European foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Monday that the Middle East was close to seeing the conflict between Israel and Hamas expanding into Lebanon, days after the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group threatened EU member Cyprus.“The risk of this war affecting the south of Lebanon and spilling over is every day bigger,” Borrell told reporters ahead of a foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg. It was unclear if he mentioned the potential impact on Israel.“We are on the eve of the war expanding,” he said.Iran-backed Hezbollah began attacking Israel the day after Hamas’s October 7 assault sparked the war in Gaza. Hezbollah has said it would not stop until there is a ceasefire in Gaza.Hezbollah terror chief Hassan Nasrallah last week said that nowhere in Israel would be safe if a full-fledged war broke out. He also threatened EU member Cyprus for the first time, and other parts of the Mediterranean.“It is absolutely unacceptable to make threats against a sovereign state of the European Union,” Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis said. “We stand by Cyprus and we will all be together in all kinds of global threats coming from terrorist organizations.”German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who is visiting Israel and the Lebanon this week, said the situation was very worrying.“A further escalation would be a catastrophe for people in the region,” she said.Israeli officials have threatened a military offensive in Lebanon in the absence of a negotiated move to push Hezbollah away from the border, after more than eight months of increasingly intense attacks on towns and military posts in northern Israel. The attacks have forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes, and huge amounts of destruction, as political pressure builds in Israel for tougher action.Tens of thousands of Lebanese have also fled their homes following Israeli strikes in south Lebanon.Last week Nasrallah said Cyprus had been allowing Israel to use its airports and bases for military exercises and that Hezbollah could consider it “a part of the war” and strike it, if it allowed the IDF to use logistical infrastructure in the country to attack Lebanon.“Opening Cypriot airports and bases to the Israeli enemy to target Lebanon would mean that the Cypriot government is part of the war, and the resistance will deal with it as part of the war,” he said.Cyprus is not known to offer any land or base facilities to the Israeli military, but has in the past allowed Israel to use its airspace to occasionally conduct air drills, though never during conflict. There are two British bases in Cyprus. They have been used for operations in Syria and more recently, Yemen, and the Cypriot government has no say in the matter. According to Hebrew media reports, British Royal Air Force fighter jets and refueling aircraft took off from bases in Cyprus to help thwart a massive drone and missile attack launched by Iran against Israel in mid-April.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, and in recent weeks have staged attacks deeper inside northern Israel while threatening sensitive infrastructure in the major city of Haifa. The attacks have drawn a limited Israeli air campaign against the terror group in southern Lebanon. The skirmishes on the border have resulted in 10 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 15 IDF soldiers and reservists. Dozens have been injured. Hezbollah’s rocket arsenal is believed to be far more extensive than Hamas’s.

Two members of Metula security team injured in Hezbollah missile attack Sunday-One officer listed in serious condition; IDF strikes terror group’s sites in southern Lebanon overnight-By Emanuel Fabian-Today, 11:53 am-JUN 24,24

A Hezbollah anti-tank guided missile attack launched from Lebanon late Sunday wounded two members of the security team of the northern community of Metula, one of them seriously, the military said Monday.According to the Israel Defense Forces, two anti-tank missiles were fired in the attack. Hezbollah took responsibility, claiming to have targeted a military vehicle in the town. One of the local security officers, in his 40s, was seriously wounded, while the other, in his 30s, was listed in good condition, Rambam Hospital in Haifa said.Amid the war, members of civilian emergency response teams in northern border communities have been drafted into the military as reservists. While tens of thousands of people have evacuated northern communities to escape danger, some have opted to stay put.The missile fire came at the tail end of a day of Hezbollah drone attacks on northern Israel. In one of the attacks, an IDF soldier was seriously wounded.Meanwhile, fighter jets struck several Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon overnight, the IDF said Monday morning. The military said the sites included a building used by Hezbollah in Aitaroun, along with other infrastructure in Kafr Kila and Khiam.Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have been ratcheting up, especially after an Israeli airstrike targeted Taleb Abdullah, the terror group’s commander for the central region of the southern border strip and its most senior commander killed in the current war.Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, with the terror group saying it is doing so to support Gaza amid Israel’s war against Hamas. So far, the skirmishes on the northern border have resulted in 10 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 15 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.Hezbollah has named 349 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 64 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have been killed.Israel has warned it can no longer tolerate Hezbollah’s presence along its border, with tens of thousands of Israelis displaced from their homes in the north due to the rocket and drone attacks, and has warned that should a diplomatic solution not be reached it will turn to military action to push Hezbollah northward. While the political echelon has not yet made a decision on launching an offensive in Lebanon and turning the Gaza Strip into the secondary front, the IDF has said it continues to target Hezbollah commanders who were behind attacks on Israel.
