Op-Ed: Israeli Sovereignty on Temple Mount: Slip Sliding Away-Our emotional detachment from the Mount has led to today's situation.Published: Thursday, November 27, 2014 5:15 PM-ISRAEL NATIONALNEWS-MK Moshe Feiglin

There is nothing more harmful to the ‘status quo’ that is in place (more or less) today on the Temple Mount than the senior Israeli officials’ demand of Knesset Members not to visit the Temple Mount. To our chagrin, the ‘holy status quo’ has always prohibited Jews from praying on the Temple Mount. But their free entry to the Mount – certainly the free entry of Knesset Members – during all hours of the day and to all places on the Mount, including the Dome of the Rock and the El Aktza Mosque – were always part of the ‘status quo’.The rights of the Jews on the Temple Mount are slipping away. Pressuring the Knesset Members to give up the last remnants of the Israeli sovereignty that they are trying to retain on the Mount has nothing to do with preservation of the ‘status quo’. Israel’s leadership has simply caved in to Jordan, which constantly tries to erode any sign of Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount. The sovereign is the Knesset. Thus, the Jordanian king doesn’t like it when Jewish MKs visit the Mount. Why is it so easy to turn public opinion around and dupe the Jews into once again blaming themselves for the Arab murderousness? And so, the Prime Minister, President, heads of security and of course an enthusiastic army of journalists have all converged to incite the public against its elected representatives and to blame them for the Arab violence. By doing so, they encourage terror. Why is it so easy to turn public opinion around and dupe the Jews into once again blaming themselves for the Arab murderousness? If the Arabs were to riot because of aliyah to Israel and Jordan’s king would recall his ambassador would the Prime Minister run to Jordan to appease him and stop aliyah?

Of course not.

It is not fear and flaccidity that have brought about the abandonment of the Temple Mount – and as a result, the precarious security situation in the entire country. Just the opposite. Our emotional detachment from the Mount, our inability to connect to its essence, to the destiny that it represents – just as we connected to the idea of aliyah to Israel  - this abandonment of the heart of our nation leads to the flaccidity and lawlessness that we are currently experiencing. The first Zionist principles like aliyah and settlement were easy to explain from a purely nationalist standpoint. But in order to ascend to the next dimension of the fulfillment of the Return to Zion – the ascent to the Temple Mount – we need a new spirit. The narrow nationalist consciousness is nothing more than its foundation. When G-d restored the Mount to Israel in 1967, the consciousness of Israel’s leadership was too narrow to perceive its significance. “Who needs this whole Vatican?” Defense Minister Moshe Dayan scoffed and hurried to give the keys to the Mount to the Moslem wakf. The religious leadership adopted the narrow dimension of religion alone, instead of daring to advance to the all-inclusive vision of the Temple. But without destiny, existence is empty. When the Temple Mount was not in Israel’s territory, our spiritual batteries were powered by the destiny that was out of reach. But in the Six Day War, when General Mota Gur declared, “The Temple Mount is in our hands,” the destiny became tangible. Its denial became tangible, as well.Since the Temple Mount was liberated, Israel has grown and become unrecognizably stronger. But the stronger we grow, the less existential legitimacy we retain. Even our ability to preserve our current existence is slipping away. For there is no existence without destiny.  And for the Jewish People, there is no destiny without the Temple Mount.

Likud Warns 'Coalition Cannot Continue Like This'-Senior Likud sources reveal Netanyahu doesn't want early elections, but likely has no choice given his coalition partners' behavior.By Hezki Ezra, Ari Yashar-First Publish: 11/27/2014, 4:41 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Senior sources in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Likud party spoke on Thursday about the likelihood of early Knesset elections, and the chances the current coalition has of surviving given the ever-increasing tensions between its various members."The Prime Minister isn't interested in elections, but at the same time it's impossible to continue in a situation where coalition members act like opposition members," the sources said.Criticizing the coalition members, the sources added "they disparage the government they are members of and level ultimatums. It's impossible to manage a country this way."Key coalition members Finance Minister Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) and Justice Minister Tzipi Livni (Hatnua) last month declared a leftist front, and Lapid shortly afterwards reportedly threatened to form an alternate coalition.Economics Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home), who also serves as Jerusalem Affairs Minister and is a key member of the coalition, likewise said in light of the crumbling security and rising Arab terrorism in Jerusalem that his own government "has no right to exist."On Wednesday, reports said Netanyahu met with the hareidi parties Shas and United Torah Judaism in an apparent attempt to find a replacement for his current coalition. However, a hareidi political source told Arutz Sheva that no such meeting occurred, and that Netanyahu is asking for hareidi support but has not presented any clear proposals to meet hareidi demands. The coalition has been divided on a bevy of issues, with the most recent - and perhaps most threatening to its continued existence - being the Jewish State Law.Netanyahu on Wednesday night spoke in the Knesset presenting the bill and his support for it, at which he was heckled by leftist MKs. Opposition leader MK Yitzhak Herzog (Labor) used the opportunity to call for a new government. In terms of the Jewish State Law, Netanyahu is preparing his version of the bill, which would take out the move to relegate Arabic to being a "special status" language instead of an official language, and would equate the Jewish and democratic nature of Israel as opposed to the original bill that emphasized Israel as the Jewish state.Critics have said Netanyahu's version of the bill is watered down, to the point that it lacks the effect of enshrining Israel's status as the nation-state of the Jewish people in state law for which the law was drafted in the first place.

Armed Gazans Fire at IDF Jeep, None Hurt-Arab terrorists fire at a jeep on routine patrol along the border fence, damaging it; IDF fires back. Danon: 'strike Hamas government.'By Gil Ronen-First Publish: 11/27/2014, 3:23 PM / Last Update: 11/27/2014, 4:48 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Arab terrorists from Gaza fired at an IDF jeep that was carrying out a routine patrol along the Gaza border Thursday morning. The jeep's windshield was damaged but no one was hurt. The bullets were apparently fired with a sniper's rifle; the incident took place near Kibbutz Be'eri. The IDF fired back at least one tank shell at the area near Al Burej.Responding to the incident, MK Danny Danon (Likud) said "the trickling fire from Gaza returns and we must respond with force. We must not be blinded by the seemingly quiet period which provides Hamas and Islamic Jihad time to renovate their terror infrastructure.""The IDF must attack the governmental buildings in Gaza now and strike the Hamas government," said Danon, calling for decisive action.Since early November, no less than 12 attempts to infiltrate the border into the Eshkol region were thwarted. Some of the infiltrators were armed, and the others were apparently only seeking employment. On Sunday afternoon, two Palestinian Arabs crossed the border fence from Gaza into Israeli illegally, and were shot by soldiers. One of them died of his wounds. The IDF clarified Sunday afternoon that the soldiers on duty at the border had initially merely fired warning shots into the air as is IDF protocol when warning off infiltrators."Once they didn't comply, they fired towards their lower extremities. There was one hit," a spokeswoman said. This was the first death of an infiltrator along the border since Operation Protective Edge.Despite ongoing tensions on the border, Israel has made several concessions to Gaza; just this Tuesday a massive shipment of construction materials was let into Gaza from Israel, despite clear evidence that Hamas is rebuilding terror tunnels into Israel.Israel also decided on Wednesday to give permits to Arab workers from Gaza to enter Israel, a practice that has not been done for a long time given the danger inherent in it - a danger illustrated in several recent high-scale terror attacks conducted by Arab workers.

MK Levin Proposes 8-Step Plan to Prevent Terrorism-Temporary legislation formulated by MK Yariv Levin calls for harsh punitive measures against terrorists, their families and supporters.By Cynthia Blank-First Publish: 11/26/2014, 10:47 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Chairman of the House Parliamentary Committee, MK Yariv Levin (Likud) has spearheaded a multi-step program to respond to the wave of terrorism in Israel in recent weeks, Yedioth Aharanoth has reported. The proposal, presented Wednesday in the form of temporary legislation, will include 8 measures to deal directly with terrorists, their families, collaborators, and agitators. The measures include automatically revoking the citizenship or permanent residency of anyone convicted of engaging in terrorist activities. Additionally, immediately after serving his/her sentence, the terrorist will be deported from the sovereign territory of Israel.Family members who support the terrorist and his/her actions will also lose citizenship or residency, and be expelled to Gaza.Terrorists killed during their attacks will not be allowed to have funerals. Their bodies will not be returned to their families; they will be buried without ceremony in unknown graves that family will not be allowed to access. The proposal also states that the homes of terrorists will be demolished within 24 hours of the execution of an act of terror.Agitators, including those who throw stones, or masked men who participate in unlawful assemblies where fireworks or firebombs are shot, will be arrested immediately. They will be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings against them.Raising an enemy flag, including the Palestinian flag, will incur the same punishment.Anyone convicted of one of these offenses will automatically lose the right to receive Bituach Leumi (Social Security) funds and services. Their driver's license will be revoked for ten years from the date of the crime.Businesses that print advertising supporting terrorism will also be punished with full closure. The bill further stipulates that business can now request information on whether any of their employees has been held in relation to a security-related offense. If so, they will be given the right to fire such an employee. The proposal was formulated at the request of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Its goal is to provide the security establishment with more efficient tools to deter terrorism.

Abbas Backs MKs Who Oppose Jewish State Law-"What does this bill mean for peace?" asks PA Chairman when referring to Jewish State Law.By Elad Benari-First Publish: 11/27/2014, 3:14 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas said on Wednesday that he supports any Israeli Knesset Members who oppose the controversial Jewish State Law, reports The Associated Press (AP).Speaking in the South African capital, Pretoria, where he met South African president Jacob Zuma, Abbas said it is important that Israel consider what the proposed law may mean for the region."We need to ask this question to the Israeli people and to ask this to the Israeli government: What does this bill mean for peace?" Abbas said, speaking through a translator. The comments were made a day after the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, headed by Abbas, criticized the Jewish State Law, saying it "will put an end to the two state solution in that it imposes the plan of greater Israel and the Jewish nature of the state on the historical land of Palestine, and it serves as a unilateral Israeli cancellation of the mutual recognition document from 1993."The PLO statement continued, "The Jewish State Law is a racist political decision that is built to negate the Palestinian rights and to control the land, and it contradicts international law...and the law institutionalizes racism and discrimination in all fields of life, by implementing (Prime Minister Binyamin) Netanyahu's plan to turn Israel into a country based on racism by law.""What is called the historic national homeland of the Jewish people is an ideological racist exclusive expression, and an attempt to warp and twist the Palestinian historical narrative," claimed the statement. "It creates legitimacy against them (Arab residents of Israel) and prepares the groundwork to expel them and uproot them under the pretext of the law, as they aren't part of the Jewish people."The bill passed a crucial cabinet vote on Sunday, which cleared the way for it to be put to a vote in the Knesset, and stipulates, "The state of Israel is the national home of the Jewish people in which it realizes its aspiration for self determination in accordance with its cultural and historic heritage...the right to realization of national self determination in Israel is exclusive to the Jewish people." Netanyahu has said he will amend the bill to make it more "moderate," equalizing Israel's Jewish and democratic status as opposed to the current version that highlights the Jewish nature of the state, even as it defines Israel as a democracy respecting the rights of all citizens. The original bill would have Arabic moved from being an official language of the state to having "special status" instead, although Netanyahu would keep Arabic as an official language, leading many to warn the new version will be watered down enough not to have many practical effects.Speaking about the bill on Tuesday, Netanyahu said Israel's "democracy is guaranteed. What is being challenged is Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people, and therefore we are updating via the law this national right of the Jewish people, side-by-side with a guarantee of the personal rights of all of its citizens."

ARMED GREEK RIOT POLICE POISED TO RAID AND SEIZE ESPHIGMENOU BUILDING-Call Upon International Human Rights Community to Help Defenseless Monks-Nov 25,14

THESSALONIKI, GREECE – Today, the Greek government served the monks of Esphigmenou monastery with an eviction notice and ordered them to vacate their building in Karyes, Mt. Athos, Greece by 11am tomorrow.  Earlier this month, the government served a similar notice, followed by a stunning display of brute force against the peaceful monks, when armed Greek police raided the monastery’s infirmary in Thessaloniki and dragged away an elderly, cancer-stricken monk in handcuffs.“We call upon the Greek government to refrain from violent actions and to let the Esphigmenou monks pray in peace as we have for over 1,500 years,” said Abbot Methodios of Esphigmenou Monastery. “We also ask all people of goodwill to support us in our struggle for religious liberty, and to allow our over 105 brothers to live our lives in peace and in prayerful contemplation, rather than under constant persecution by the government.”The Esphigmenou monastery has been involved in a long-running dispute with the Greek government which has tried to evict the peaceful monks from their monastery home. The Greek government has gone so far as to impose a barbaric blockade of food, water, medical supplies and even doctors in an effort to starve the monks out of their home of 1,500 years.  Greece has been cited for its actions against these peaceful monks in the U.S. State Department’s International Religious Freedom Report.“The Greek government committed violence against the Esphigmenou monks earlier this month and we implore them to not do it again,” said John Rigas of Friends of Esphigmenou. “We ask the international human rights community to join us, just as the U.S. State Department has in previous years in condemning these actions. The Greek government cannot get away with persecuting its own citizens over a religious difference of opinion.”Over 25 monks have already died while the government imposed blockade has been in place. Tomorrow’s anticipated acts of government violence are simply the latest in the non-stop campaign of harassment and intimidation in recent years by the Greek government against the peaceful monks.  The monks of Esphigmenou ask for the support and prayers of people of goodwill during this difficult time, especially during this upcoming Holy Christmas season, and send their holy Blessings to all.The dispute with the Greek government stems from a disagreement the monks have had with Patriarch Bartholomew of Istanbul, Turkey.  Patriarch Bartholomew has pressured to Greek government to take action against the monks, whom he has decided, in an apparent fit of personal pique, are schismatic.  The monks have requested dialogue with him in order to resolve this dispute in a peaceful and brotherly manner, but he has refused.  He has instead used the Greek government as a weapon against his fellow Orthodox Christians to remove the monks from the land and buildings they have legally owned and occupied for more than 1500 years. The Greek government, having been unsuccessful in removing the monks with their previous inhumane tactics -- a harsh embargo cutting off food, electricity, water, telephone lines and arresting people who have attempted to bring the monks food and denying entrance to medical doctors to visit elderly and infirm monks -- has now taken the tragic decision to turn to overtly  violent methods by sending in armed police.Friends of Esphigmenou Monastery-P.O.
