Doctors Doing 'Everything Possible' to Save Firebomb Victim-Eleven year-old Ayala Shapira is being treated for numerous injuries and burns she sustained in the attack.By Yaakov Levi-First Publish: 12/25/2014, 10:43 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Eleven year-old Ayala Shapira, who was injured in the firebomb attack near Ma'ale Shomron Thursday night, is being treated for numerous injuries and burns she sustained in the attack. Shapira is in serious condition. Doctors said they are “fighting” to save her life.Ayala was driving in a car with her father, Avner, on the access road to the new community of El Matan when they were attacked by Arab terrorists who threw a firebomb at his vehicle Thursday night. The two suffered burns, but managed to escape from their burning vehicle. They were treated on the scene by Magen David Adom rescue workers and taken to Sheba (Tel Hashomer) hospital. The girl is said to be in serious condition by doctors. The incident occurred on a service road between Ma'ale Shomron and the new community of El-Matan. Ma'ale Shomron is located off Road 55, which stretches between Kfar Sava and Shechem. IDF troops were in pursuit of the terrorists. Speaking outside his daughter's hospital room, Shapira said that the terrorist needed to be treated like one. “The man who did this was not a criminal, he was a terrorist. He was a soldier of the Arab enemy, which is carrying out a war of annihilation against us. He was an agent of the Arab nation that sent him, as it sends many such soldiers, to kill us and evict us from our land.”Professor Ze'ev Rothstein, Director of Sheba Hospital, where Ayala is being treated, said that Avner was relatively lightly injured, and was suffering from surface burns. Ayala, meanwhile, is suffering from much more severe injuries. “It is not clear at this point if her life is in danger,” he said. “We will do everything possible to save her.”Avner Shapira is the nephew of Sarah Eliash, well known educator and public figure who founded and was former principal of the Lehava girls school in Kedumim, was deputy head of the Council of Judea and Samaria and is a candidate for a spot on the Jewish Home Knesset ticket. “I pray that they make a full recovery, and I ask for everyone to pray for the recovery of Ayelet bat Ruth and Anver ben Rachel,” she said.

Netanyahu Must Set a Policy on Gaza'-Eshkol Regional Council leader Haim Yellin urges political leadership to ignore elections and crack down on terrorism after Gaza skirmish.By Benny Toker-First Publish: 12/25/2014, 3:15 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Haim Yellin, head of the Eshkol Regional Council, is concerned that Israel is deteriorating towards a renewed round of escalation with Gaza, he stated to Arutz Sheva Thursday."Take what I said three months ago and you heard what I said then: that in the absence of a military victory or a ceasefire or demilitarization, we will find ourselves again facing an escalation with Gaza," Yellin lamented. "And now [Wednesday's skirmish] with the Qassam rocket fired Friday from Gaza, it's starting again slowly, until we finally lose control."Yellin - who is running for election with Yesh Atid - was adamant that the response must be unequivocal and swift regardless of Israel's pre-election chaos."The IDF's response only came after the third Qassam fired [at us], so you cannot blame the elections," he said. "There are no politics here: Israel must defend its citizens.""Bibi [Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu - ed.] and Boogie [Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon - ed.] act as prime minister and defense minister and they need to respond to this, not push it off because of elections."Yellin called upon the Prime Minister to formulate a clear-cut policy regarding Gaza."You have to finish the job in Gaza with demilitarization, or an agreement or truce; if not, then we have to eliminate them," Yellin said of Hamas. "But we have to have a policy."Yellin's statements come in the wake of a shooting incident near the border with Gaza, which left an IDF soldier in critical condition. The incident is widely considered to be the worst of its kind since Operation Protective Edge ended in August.Eshkol Region head has been adamant that "Gaza war number four" is on its way, telling Arutz Sheva in November that not enough is being done to prevent it. He has been outspoken both about pursuing a military solution and signing a diplomatic agreement - anything to end the tense state of limbo and uncertainty between Israel and Gaza.

Officials Demand 'Heavy Hand' Against Ma'ale Shomron Attackers-MKs and community leaders express outrage at Thursday's attack on a Ma'ale Shomron resident and his 11 year old daughter.-By Moshe Cohen-First Publish: 12/25/2014, 9:05 PM

Ministers, MKs, and community leaders expressed outrage at Thursday's attack on a Ma'ale Shomron resident and his eleven year old daughter. Deputy director of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, said that all the resources of the Council are being thrown into the search for the culprits and into developing methods to prevent a repeat.“This was a serious attack. The ease on the strictures we have given terrorists has led to many attacks on our roads. It is illogical how we are letting them do this,” he said.“No country in the world would tolerate this situation,” he continued. “We call on the Prime Minister to use a heavy hand against these monsters, despite what some hypocrites in the European Union would say. We support our soldiers and security forces at this difficult time.”The victim, Avner Shapira and his 11 year old daughter Ayala were attacked by Arab terrorists who threw a firebomb at his vehicle Thursday night. The two suffered burns, but managed to escape from their burning vehicle. They were treated on the scene by Magen David Adom rescue workers and taken to a hospital in Kfar Sava. The girl is said to be in very serious condition by doctors. The incident occurred on a service road between Maale Shomron and the new community of El-Matan. Ma'ale Shomron is located off Road 55, which stretches between Kfar Sava and Shechem. IDF troops were in pursuit of the terrorists.Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) called on the army to retaliate to firebombs as it does to attacks from the Gaza Strip."Firebombs have one goal - to kill Jews," he said in a statement, calling on the prime minister and army to respond with "severity and harshness."MK Nissan Slomiansky (Jewish Home) slammed the Left for its role in facilitating the attack. “When a little girl is hurt by a firebomb we should keep in mind who it was that prevented the transfer of funds to protect private vehicles and public transportation in Judea and Samaria, arguing about every shekel that was allocated. Throwing a rock or a firebomb is attempted murder,” he added. “There are many people who face terror every day. Residents of Judea and Samaria deserve security like everyone else in Israel.” MK Orit Struk (Jewish Home) said that “this shocking attack must be a line in the sand in our relations with wicked Arab terror. A government that wants to truly prevent attacks on little girls traveling in cars must begin taking clear steps against terrorists and show them that their actions will not pay off. It's not just about punishment – we must take an important Zionist step such as strengthening Israeli control of the land wherever we can.Former Judea and Samaria Council head Dani Dayan, a resident of Ma'ale Shomron, was at the scene of the attack minutes after it occurred. “Ma'ale Shomron is my home, but now it is a terror target. One of my friends and neighbors was hurt, and his daughter seriously injured. We cannot accept this. Security forces must fight this terror with a strong hand,” he added.Avi Na'im, chairman of the security council in the Local Authority and head of the Beit Aryeh local council, said that “the response to the throwing of a firebomb must be shooting the terrorists with intent to kill. An 11 year old girl on her way home with he father should not be a target.”In recent months, there have been several rock and firebomb throwing incidents in the area of Road 55, which had been considered quiescent until recently. Several weeks ago, large numbers of IDF troops massed to successfully hold back a mob of Arabs from the neighboring village of Azzun who had attempted to march on Ma'ale Shomron.Avner Shapira is the nephew of Sara Eliash. The article about her on Arutz Sheva's main page was posted just a few minutes before the news of the terror attack.

Court Orders to Destroy Samaria Village-High Court on Thursday orders the state to dismantle the new community of Amona within two years.By Moshe Cohen-First Publish: 12/25/2014, 7:53 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

The High Court on Thursday ordered the state to dismantle the new community of Amona within two years. If the decision stands, it would be the final one in a long-running legal struggle of Amona residents to ward off the tractors of the Civil Administration, which have long been poised to demolish the community's homes. In its decision, the Court said that despite the facts that the details of ownership of land have not yet been fully established, “the homes in Amona are built on private land and there is no way to legalize their presence. The IDF commander of Judea and Samaria must actively protect the property rights of all residents, and that includes preventing unauthorized parties from taking property that does not belong to them. Construction of homes by such parties on private land is illegal and in lieu of any other arrangement they must be torn down.”The court, in a decision written by Chief Justice Asher Gronis, rejected claims by Amona residents that they had legally purchased the land. Even if they had, Gronis said, the homes there were built without permits or licenses from planning commissions and other legal bodies whose approval is required for construction.“It is not with an easy conscience that we issue orders to evict people from their homes, where they have lived for many years. There is no doubt that the implications of this decision could be very serious, for the residents and their families. But despite that we cannot allow illegal building on private land, and we must require the demolishing of the homes,” Gronis added.Amona has been the subject of a game of legal ping pong for nearly two decades, with the state alternatively seeking to build, preserve, and demolish it. Amona, in central Samaria, was established in 1995 on land that Arabs had cultivated, but had no clear ownership to. In 2004, the state ordered the demolition of nine homes that had been built on the site, and in 2006, the IDF and police came out in full force to remove residents and hundreds of protestors who hoped to halt the demolition. Over 300 people were injured, including three MKs. In an inquiry later, the Knesset decided that the police had exercised excessive force in removing the protestors.
