Britain will head into unknown if Brexit deal is rejected: May-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-By Kylie MacLellan and William James-November 29, 2018

LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Theresa May warned on Monday that Britain would be thrust into the unknown if parliament rejects the Brexit deal she has negotiated with the European Union, as lawmakers from all sides lined up to criticise the agreement.Under the deal secured with EU leaders on Sunday, Britain will leave the bloc in March with continued close trade ties, but the odds now look stacked against May getting it approved by a divided British parliament. As May tried to win over her critics, lawmakers from both her own Conservatives and opposition parties attacked the deal, warning that parliament would not support it, and urging her to set out an alternative plan."There is not a better deal available," May told the House of Commons. "We can back this deal, deliver on the vote of the referendum and move on to building a brighter future .. or this House can choose to reject this deal and go back to square one.""No-one knows what would happen if this deal doesn’t pass. It would open the door to more division and more uncertainty, with all the risks that will entail."Parliament will vote on the deal on Dec. 11 after a total of five days of debate, May's office said.May has warned lawmakers that if they reject it, Britain could face leaving the EU without a deal - something businesses say would hurt the world's fifth largest economy. The EU has also been clear that there is very little appetite to reopen the Brexit negotiations if parliament votes it down. Her plan faces opposition from both eurosceptics and europhiles among her party's 314 lawmakers and around 313 lawmakers from opposition parties. The 10 lawmakers of the Democratic Unionist Party, the Northern Irish group that props up May's minority government, said at the weekend they will vote against the deal.May needs to win a simple majority in parliament - 320 votes if all active lawmakers turn out and vote - but former whips, who have long studied parliamentary arithmetic, say the prime minister may end up needing only 305 votes if illnesses and abstentions are accounted for."This will never get through ... it is as dead as a dodo," Conservative lawmaker Mark Francois said, adding he agreed with the Sun newspaper's verdict that the deal was "a surrender"."Prime Minister I plead with you, the House of Commons has never ever surrendered to anybody and it won't start now."Asked if May was confident of getting a deal through parliament, her spokesman told reporters: "Yes."May said her deal was in the national interest, but opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said ploughing on with a deal that did not have the support of parliament was "an act of national self-harm".Her de facto deputy David Lidington will meet Labour lawmakers on Monday to discuss the deal, her spokesman said, in a move seen by many as an attempt to win their support.May sought to reassure pro-Brexit lawmakers angered by comments from French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday demanding access to UK fishing waters after Brexit. These remarks deepened worries that Britain will be forced into a so-called backstop to avoid a return of controls on the border between Northern Ireland and the Irish republic."The EU have maintained throughout this process that they wanted to link overall access to markets to access to fisheries. They failed in the Withdrawal Agreement, and they failed again in the Political Declaration," May said."It is no surprise some are already trying to lay down markers again for the future relationship, but they should be getting used to the answer by now: it is not going to happen."(Additional reporting by Elizabeth Piper and Alistair Smout; Editing by Raissa Kasolowsky and David Stamp)

North Korea's Kim open to nuclear site inspection: report-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-November 29, 2018

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is willing to allow inspectors into the reclusive country's main nuclear complex in Yongbyon, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported on Tuesday, citing a senior diplomatic source."I understand that Chairman Kim told (South Korean) President Moon (Jae-in) during their summit in September that if the U.S. took corresponding steps he would not only be willing to shut down the Yongbyon nuclear facilities but also allow verification," Yonhap quoted the source as saying. The source said Moon passed the message on to U.S. President Donald Trump when the two met during the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September.Kim had earlier expressed openness to shutting down the site if Washington took "corresponding" measures, but no offer to allow inspectors in to verify had been reported. The United States has stressed the importance of verification as it negotiates with the North about the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.(Reporting by Doina Chiacu; Editing by James Dalgleish)

Israeli academics dropped from conference in South Africa due to BDS pressure-Ben-Gurion University professor says she never before faced such fierce boycott calls, feels ‘academics is being trampled by politics’-By TOI staff-NOV 29,18

Israeli academics have been dropped from a conference at a South African university following pressure from organizations that support boycotting Israel.Tuesday’s decision by the organizing committee of the “Recognition, Reparation, Reconciliation” event set to be held next week at Stellenbosch University came after it received a letter last week from a number of groups that back the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.“Given our own settler colonial and apartheid past, our freedom struggle and the legacy of inequality, violence, racism and trauma we live with today, we find the false symmetry between an aggressor state and the popular resistance movement to be egregious. We cannot abide by a move which effectively ‘normalizes’ Israeli apartheid,” the groups wrote in the letter. They also objected to the “seeming absence of authentic Palestinian representation” and said Mohammed Dajani, who is set to take part in the conference, is “promoted by the pro-Israeli lobby to posit a so-called ‘moderate’ Palestinian line.”Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela, the head of the organizing committee, said she spoke to the Israeli academics in the wake of the letter and “they have all since rescinded their participation at the conference and will no longer be part of the program.”According to the Haaretz daily, seven Israeli academics from three different universities were slated to attend the conference. While expressing support for boycotts of Israel, Gobodo-Madikizela defended the initial decision to invite the Israeli academics, saying none of them “represents the position of the state of Israel against Palestinians.”Professor Shifra Sagy of Ben-Gurion University in Beersheba, one of the academics who was set to take part in the conference, said she had never before faced such strident calls to boycott Israeli academics.“I’m invited to many conferences, to places that aren’t necessarily fans of Israel. I never ignore my identity, just the opposite: Most of my lectures start with a declaration that I come from a place of conflict and I explain how this fact influences my research,” she told Haaretz.“Until now I never encountered such behavior. The feeling is that academics is being trampled by politics,” Sagy added.Haim Hames, the rector of Ben-Gurion University, described the decision by conference organizers to drop the Israeli participants as a “dangerous capitulation” and said it undermined values at the heart of academic discourse.“Beyond the basic ignorance and basic lack of understanding about the situation in Israel, I can only condemn the call to boycott Israeli academia,” he told Haaretz.

South Korea buys Israeli radar tech likely to counter North’s missiles-Seoul purchases two advanced Green Pine arrays, each reportedly with a range of hundreds of miles, from state-owned ELTA Systems-By Judah Ari Gross-TOI-NOV 29,18

South Korea announced on Tuesday that it was purchasing two advanced radar systems from Israel that are meant to improve its ability to detect incoming missiles, like those that could be launched by North Korea. The two Green Pine radar detectors will be provided by the ELTA Systems Ltd., a subsidiary of the state-owned IAI Israel Aerospace Industries. The purchase came despite ongoing efforts between South and North Korea to end the war that the two countries have officially been waging since 1950.The radar deal is worth approximately $292 million, a South Korean official told Reuters. In its announcement, Seoul said the systems could “spot and track ballistic missiles from a long distance at an early stage.” North Korea was not explicitly mentioned.Analysts in South Korea said the new Green Pine radar systems could act as a deterrent against North Korea, potentially preventing Pyongyang from launching missiles in the first place.South Korea already possesses earlier versions of the Green Pine system. The new variant Seoul announced it was purchasing on Tuesday — the third iteration, known as the Block C — is designed to both provide an early warning about an attack and work in tandem with a missile defense system to intercept the incoming projectile. In 2009, when Seoul purchased its first pair of Green Pine radar arrays, South Korean officials said it would use them in tandem with American-made Patriot interceptor missiles. The new model of the Green Pine radar system is believed to have an improved operational range and be able to track multiple projectiles in the air simultaneously. It is an improvement over South Korea’s current systems, which are said to have a range of approximately 800 kilometers (500 miles). The decision to purchase the additional radar systems was made by South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration.Under dovish South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Seoul has pursued a policy of engagement with its isolated, nuclear-armed neighbor to the north. In September, Moon and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un agreed on a broad plan to ease tensions along the border during their third summit in Pyongyang. The two nations technically remain at war after the 1950-53 Korean War, which sealed the division of the peninsula and ended with a ceasefire instead of a peace treaty. But ties improved markedly this year as Moon and Kim took a series of reconciliatory gestures.Kim and US President Donald Trump also held a historic summit in June in Singapore and signed a vaguely-worded deal on denuclearization, but little progress has been made since then, with the two countries sparring over the exact meaning of the agreement.Planned talks between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and one of Kim’s right-hand men, Kim Yong Chol, were also delayed this month.AFP contributed to this report.

POSSIBLE CLONE OR ROBOT

DANIEL 12:4
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

REVELATION 13:13-15
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

REVELATION 14:9-11
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Canadian scientists call creation of gene-edited babies 'premature' use of technology-[The Canadian Press]-YAHOONEWS-November 29, 2018

TORONTO — Canadian researchers have added their voices to widespread international condemnation of a Chinese scientist who says he helped create genetically modified twin girls using a gene-editing tool known as CRISPR.The unconfirmed claim was announced Monday by He Jiankui of China's Southern University of Science and Technology, who said he altered the DNA of embryos during fertility treatments with the goal of preventing the babies from becoming infected with HIV in the future.Such genetic tinkering contravenes international ethical guidelines and some countries' laws regulating the use of gene-editing in human reproduction — which some call the slippery slope towards designer babies.Dr. Janet Rossant, a senior scientist at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, cautioned that it's unclear if the research actually occurred, as it has not been published in a medical journal or verified by other scientists."But at face value, this research has moved forward to the clinic way ahead of all the ethical consensus that has been going on internationally," Rossant said Monday. While the prospect of using CRISPR-Cas9 to remove or rearrange bits of DNA underpinning serious genetic diseases is exciting, the tool should only be used in humans once it is known to be completely safe and under strict ethical guidelines, she said."The genetic modification that He made was not to prevent a serious genetic disease, it's what we would classify as an enhancement, which is also something that the National Academies (of Science, Engineering and Medicine) thought was not appropriate," she added.Manipulating the genes to prevent HIV infection, "we don't even know what the long-term consequences of that are. And anyway, there's no necessity to do that to those children."The alteration of DNA in a human egg, sperm or embryo is what's known as germ-line editing, which would affect not only a resulting child, but also future generations. The risks of such tampering are unknown, and leading scientists and medical organizations have called for a moratorium on its use except in laboratory studies.Under Canada's Human Reproduction Act, such germ-line editing is illegal and could be punishable by up to 10 years in prison.Sohnee Ahmed, president of the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors, said that if the Chinese scientist's claim is true, the birth of the word's first genetically altered babies has run way ahead of both scientific maturity and ethical considerations."Certainly this is something that the genetics world all thought would possibly happen one day, but I think we were hoping it would happen with a lot more regulation," said Ahmed, a genetic counsellor at a private DNA testing lab in Toronto."I would hope that the international bodies that have stated quite firmly up until this point that we would not want this to happen would still stay firm regardless of someone going rogue," she said."And if anything (they) would really double-down to emphasize this is something that should not be happening at this time, not without any kind of oversight."Tim Caulfield, a professor of health and law at the University of Alberta, said that while the advent of gene-editing is exciting, the use of the technology to reshape human  DNA is "premature.""I think there is an emerging international consensus that this research should progress, that we need to be open-minded about how it could be applied in the future, but we're not at the state right now where we want to be using this technology in the clinic," he said from Edmonton."Using these technologies prematurely can really adversely impact the entire scientific field. I think it's very important that we move forward carefully and in a transparent manner."On Monday, more than 100 mostly Chinese scientists signed a petition calling for greater oversight by their country on gene-editing experiments, while Southern University said it planned to investigate He's claim, saying the work "seriously violated academic ethics and standards."— Follow @SherylUbelacker on Twitter.Sheryl Ubelacker, The Canadian Press.

Indonesia gives first report on deadly Lion Air crash on Wednesday-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-By Jamie Freed and Cindy Silviana-November 29, 2018

SINGAPORE/JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesian investigators will deliver their first report into the Lion Air crash on Wednesday, a month after the brand-new Boeing 737 crashed into the sea, killing all 189 on board in the country's second-worst air disaster. The report, which comes as the search continues in the Java Sea for the jet's cockpit voice recorder, is not expected to draw firm conclusions from the ongoing investigation into the Oct. 29 crash. However, investigators have said they are focusing their attention on the Boeing 737's anti-stall system. The doomed jet's systems had detected it was in a stall due to a faulty indicator and gave the captain a warning through a "stick shaker" that vibrated the controls, Nurcahyo Utomo, an investigator at Indonesia's transport safety committee (KNKT), told parliament last week. The Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) - an automated modification new to the model that crashed - activated and directed the jet's nose down to prevent a stall, Utomo said. The pilots counteracted that successfully for some time before the plane entered a final dive, he added. The same anti-stall system had activated on the jet during a flight the previous evening, but the pilots in that case managed to shut off the system, Utomo said. The crash was the first involving the latest model of Boeing's best-selling 737 series, the 737 MAX, which entered service a year ago.MCAS was not described in the Lion Air flight manual before the crash, KNKT has said, nor in those used by American airlines according to U.S. pilot unions. However, the cockpit procedure for dealing with a runaway stabilizer remains unchanged from earlier 737 models.Boeing Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg said earlier this month that Boeing provides "all of the information that's needed to safely fly our airplanes" but the jet's manual and training methods have come under scrutiny after the crash. In response to initial findings from the jet's flight data recorder, Boeing issued a bulletin to airlines reiterating procedures and advising them to add information on MCAS to flight manuals, which was followed by a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration directive making that mandatory.A Boeing spokeswoman on Tuesday declined to comment on the investigation, but said Boeing had discussed MCAS functions with more than 60 airline operators globally since 2016.Lion Air's maintenance practices and pilot training also face scrutiny after investigators said the doomed jet had problems with airspeed indicators on its final four flights.Lion Air, one of Asia's largest budget carriers, says it tackled safety concerns highlighted by previous incidents. Most air accidents are caused by a cocktail of factors and investigations typically take around a year to complete.Investigators are expected to restrict their report to factual details from the jet's flight data recorder, which contains 69 hours of information from its last 19 flights. But they can include immediate recommendations if they have pressing safety concerns. The search for the cockpit voice recorder is proving difficult after investigators said last week its "ping" signal was no longer being detected."We're still making efforts to find the CVR and it is very important. The CVR is related to the credibility of the country so that we can avoid the same incident," KNKT head Soearjanto Tjahjono told parliament.(Reporting by Jamie Freed in Singapore and Cindy Silviana in Jakarta; additional reporting by Jessica Damiana in Jakarta and Tim Hepher in Paris)

Ukraine introduces martial law citing threat of Russian invasion-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-By Andrew Osborn and Natalia Zinets-November 28, 2018

MOSCOW/KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine on Monday imposed martial law for 30 days in parts of the country most vulnerable to an attack from Russia after President Petro Poroshenko warned of the "extremely serious" threat of a land invasion.Poroshenko said martial law was necessary to bolster Ukraine's defenses after Russia seized three Ukrainian naval ships and took their crew prisoner at the weekend.U.S. President Donald Trump said he did not like what was happening between Russia and Ukraine and was working with European leaders on the situation.U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called Russia's seizure of the Ukrainian vessels "a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law" and called for restraint from both countries."The United States condemns this aggressive Russian action. We call on Russia to return to Ukraine its vessels and detained crew members, and to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," Pompeo said in a statement. The State Department said Pompeo spoke by phone with Poroshenko and reiterated strong U.S. support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian "aggression".The Ukrainian parliament approved the introduction of martial law after Poroshenko reassured some skeptical lawmakers that it would not be used to curb civil liberties or delay elections scheduled for next year.It came at the end of a day when Ukraine and Russia traded accusations about Sunday's standoff and Kiev's allies weighed in to condemn Moscow's behavior. With relations still raw after Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine and its backing for a pro-Moscow insurgency in eastern Ukraine, the crisis risked pushing the two countries into open conflict."Russia has been waging a hybrid war against our country for a fifth year. But with an attack on Ukrainian military boats it moved to a new stage of aggression," Poroshenko said.In a phone call with Poroshenko, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg offered the alliance's "full support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty." Ukraine is not a NATO member though it aspires to membership.Washington's envoy to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, said Russia's actions were an "outrageous violation of sovereign Ukrainian territory" and sanctions on Russia would remain in place. The European Union, Britain, France, Poland, Denmark, and Canada all condemned what they called Russian aggression. German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed the need for dialogue. The stand-off in the Azov Sea is more combustible now than at any time in the past four years as Ukraine has rebuilt its armed forces, previously in disarray, and has a new generation of commanders who are confident and have a point to prove."PROVOCATION"-Russia's foreign ministry blamed Kiev for the crisis."It's obvious that this painstakingly thought-through and planned provocation was aimed at igniting another source of tension in the region in order to create a pretext to ramp up sanctions against Russia," it said in a statement.Such a policy was "fraught with serious consequences," it said, adding that Kiev was acting in coordination with the United States and the European Union.Russia summoned the ranking diplomat at Kiev's embassy in Moscow over the incident, the foreign ministry said.In Kiev, Poroshenko said intelligence data suggested there was an "extremely serious threat" of a land-based operation against Ukraine by Russia."I have a document of intelligence in my hands ... Ready at any moment for an immediate invasion of Ukraine," he said.Martial law would allow Ukraine to respond swiftly to any invasion and mobilize resources as quickly as possible, he said.He dismissed "dirty speculation" by critics that he wanted to use the proposed measure to delay elections next year, where he faces a tough re-election fight and opinion polls show him trailing his opponents. Ukrainian lawmakers held a second vote to confirm the polls would take place as scheduled on March 31.UKRAINIANS WOUNDED, VESSELS HELD-Russia's rouble currency weakened 1.4 percent against the dollar in Moscow on Monday, its biggest one-day fall since Nov. 9, while Russian dollar-bonds fell.Markets are highly sensitive to anything that could trigger new Western sanctions, and therefore weaken the Russian economy. A fall in the price of oil - Russia's biggest source of revenue - has made its economy more vulnerable. The crisis erupted when border patrol boats belonging to Russia's FSB security service seized two small Ukrainian armored artillery vessels and a tug boat after opening fire on them and wounding three sailors on Sunday. The Ukrainian vessels had been trying to enter the Sea of Azov from the Black Sea via the narrow Kerch Strait that separates Crimea from the Russian mainland.Interfax news agency quoted Russia's human rights commissioner, Tatyana Moskalkova, as saying on Monday that 24 Ukrainian sailors were being detained. Three of the sailors were wounded but were not in a serious condition and were recovering in hospital. The FSB said the Ukrainian ships had ignored warning shots, forcing Russian vessels to open fire for real, after they illegally entered Russian territorial waters.A Reuters witness in Kerch, a port in Crimea, said the three Ukrainian vessels were being held there on Monday.Domestic politics in Moscow also add to the combustibility of the situation.Russian President Vladimir Putin has seen his high approval rating fall because of unpopular domestic policies. In the past, successful military action beyond Russia's borders has buoyed his popularity.Tensions have long been brewing over the Azov Sea. Crimea, on the western shore, is now controlled by Moscow, the eastern shore is Russian territory, and the northern shore is controlled by Ukraine.(Additional reporting by Tom Balmforth and Polina Ivanova in Moscow, Jeff Mason, David Brunnstrom, Makini Brice and Doina Chiacu in Washington; Michelle Stine Buch Jacobsen in Copenhagen, Karin Strohecker in London, Joanna Plucinska in Warsaw, and European bureaux; Writing by Andrew Osborn, Christian Lowe and Matthias Williams; Editing by Angus MacSwan and James Dalgleish)

Hundreds of bodies exhumed from mass grave in Syria’s Raqqa-Panorama grave, named after the neighborhood where it was found, believed to contain some 1,500 bodies, is among the largest of nine such graves discovered so far-By Zeina Karam-TOI-NOV 29,18

BEIRUT (AP) — Syrian workers have exhumed more than 500 bodies from one of the largest mass graves near the northern city of Raqqa, once the capital of the Islamic State group’s self-styled caliphate, and are still uncovering remains, a local official said Tuesday. The exhumation of mass graves in and around Raqqa is being undertaken by local groups and first responders amid concerns about the preservation of bodies and evidence for possible war crimes trials.“We’re in a race against time. These bodies are decomposing at an exponential rate,” said Sara Kayyali, of Human Rights Watch.A devastating US-backed air and ground campaign drove IS from Raqqa more than a year ago, but rescuers and recovery teams continue to locate mass graves in and around the city. At least nine graves have been found in and around Raqqa, and the bodies that have been recovered are a mix of victims of US-led coalition airstrikes, IS fighters, and civilians. The Panorama mass grave, named after the neighborhood where it was found, is one of the largest of nine mass graves discovered so far, and is believed to contain around 1,500 bodies. Hammoud al-Shawakh, a local official involved in the work, said 516 bodies believed to be of Islamic State fighters and civilians have been exhumed. The work is painstaking and the task is huge. A team of Raqqa-based first responders and a forensic doctor carefully shovel dirt to search for the bodies, which are believed to have been buried there in the last days of the four-month campaign to liberate Raqqa.Abdul Raouf al-Ahmad, the deputy forensic doctor, said local teams start their work at 8 a.m. and work for more than seven hours straight each day, digging through neatly formed trenches in the grave.“After we extract the bodies from this grave… we document whether it belongs to a fighter, child, baby, an adolescent or woman or an ordinary person,” he said. “We document clothing, ornaments, height, type of injury, cause of death and how it was covered, what the person was wearing, with what it was wrapped and its position in the grave,” he added.International human rights groups say they are concerned that local groups are not getting the support they need in terms of forensic expertise and human resources.“If these bodies are not preserved in the correct way, in the way that’s been established, then it does mean that much of this evidence might be lost when we’re seeking accountability for crimes committed either in the context of the battle or before it,” Kayyali said.

2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

Iran’s parliament speaker says US peace plan a ‘plot’ to strengthen Israel-Ali Larijani vows Tehran will oppose Trump administration proposal, warns UAE and Saudi Arabia against warming ties with Jerusalem-By AFP-TOI-NOV 29,18

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran is determined to fight against US President Donald Trump’s anticipated Israeli-Palestinian peace plan, parliament speaker Ali Larijani said Tuesday, according to the semi-official news agency ISNA.Trump has dubbed his administration’s long-awaited plan the “ultimate deal,” which has already unsettled the Palestinians although no details have yet been disclosed.Speaking in Tehran, Larijani said the “deal of the century” was a “plot” between Israel and the United States to establish the Jewish state’s domination in the Middle East.“We will stand against the regime of Israel and won’t let this deal take place in the region,” Larijani said at an annual conference on Islamic unity.“If Americans are imposing sanctions on Iran today and are putting pressure on Iran, the reason for it is because Iran has stood against Israel,” he added, quoted by ISNA.Earlier this year, Washington pulled out of the international nuclear accord with Iran and reimposed crippling sanctions on Tehran.“In order to achieve their objective they try to create new political arrangements in the region,” Larijani said of US-Israeli strategy in the Middle East. The parliament speaker also singled out regional rival Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as he warned countries against normalizing relations with Israel.Countries in the region “should know that they would not benefit at all by letting [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu into their countries,” Larijani said.“People in the region, in any country, regard Israel as a cancerous tumor and hate it,” he added.Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman earlier this year reaffirmed his country’s “steadfast” support for the Palestinian cause, after coming under fire for saying both Israelis and Palestinians “have the right to have their own land.”Israel has diplomatic relations with just two Arab states — Egypt and Jordan — but Netanyahu has been pushing for broader regional ties. The premier traveled to Oman in October, while two of his ministers visited the UAE.

Czech House, feted as ‘first step’ in embassy move, opens in Jerusalem-Netanyahu cuts ribbon for new center alongside visiting Czech President Zeman, who calls it a ‘candle against the darkness’-By Raphael Ahren-NOV 28,18

Czech President Milos Zeman on Tuesday formally opened the so-called Czech House in Jerusalem, an office space billed by Prague as the “first step” of relocating the country’s embassy from Tel Aviv to the capital.“Friends, let me declare the Czech House opening, and I firmly believe that my fourth visit to Israel will be the opening of the Czech embassy,” Zeman said at the ceremony, to loud applause from the audience.“Bibi, we politicians sometimes produce plenty of words, but what you see is the action, is the deed,” he said, calling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by his nickname. “That is why I want to express my sincerest thanks for the people, who instead of words organized this candle against the darkness, the candle of the friendship between our two nations.”Jokingly, he added that it was his firm believe that in the “near future” there would not only be a Czech embassy in Jerusalem, “but also a nice Czech tavern with good Czech beer.”Netanyahu participated in the half-hour long event, cutting the ribbon together with the Czech president. The leaders’ wives also took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.“We have no greater friend than the Czech Republic in the eastern hemisphere,” Netanyahu said, sitting on a stage next to Zeman.Israel has “flourishing relations” with an increasing number of countries, he went on, noting the recent breakthrough in bilateral ties with Chad.“These relations, as is the nature of international alliances, are based on a commonality of interests, interests for something, interests against something, and very often both,” Netanyahu said. “With the Czech Republic, as with the United States of America, there is something else — it’s a deep, deep commonality of values.”Záznam slavnostního otevÅ™ení ÄŒeského domu, OVTV, Jeruzalém, úterý 27. listopadu 2018-Posted by MiloÅ¡ Zeman – prezident ÄŒeské republiky on Tuesday, 27 November 2018-Tuesday’s ceremony, which included a lengthy musical performance by Israeli and Czech artists, was also attended by US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, Deputy Foreign Minister Zipi Hotovely, Jerusalem mayor-elect Moshe Lion, and other dignitaries.Friedman later tweeted that he was “Looking forward to the Czech Embassy opening here in the near future!”It was an honor and a privilege to meet with the @IsraeliPM and Czech Republic President #MilosZeman at today’s opening of the beautiful Czech House Jerusalem, just outside the Old City walls. Looking forward to the Czech Embassy opening here in the near future!— David M. Friedman (@USAmbIsrael) November 27, 2018-Earlier on Tuesday, Netanyahu hosted Zeman in his Jerusalem office, calling the opening of the Czech House “a very important decision en route to another one.”“We say ‘Next year in Jerusalem.’ So, next year we hope to see an embassy in Jerusalem, but next year in Prague, we have a G2G meeting,” Netanyahu added.Israeli-Czech government-to-government consultations would ideally take place in the first quarter of 2019 and “the relocation of the embassy is to be discussed” on that occasion, Zeman replied.Zeman, a staunch supporter of Israel, on Monday vowed to do everything in his power to move the embassy to Jerusalem, but also acknowledged that he does not have the authority to do so.“Tomorrow I will open the Czech House. Where? In Jerusalem. And it connects CzechInvest, CzechTrade, CzechTourism, Czech Center, and so on,” he said during a brief speech to the Knesset — the first ever of a Czech leader to Israel’s parliament. In April, Zeman announced the beginning of a three-stage process to move the country’s diplomatic missions from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The first step was the appointment of an honorary consul in Jerusalem. The second step is Tuesday’s opening of the so-called Czech House, an office space in the capital’s Cinematheque, where Czech diplomats will conduct meetings but which will have no official diplomatic status.“Well, friends, I am no dictator, unfortunately,” Zeman told the Knesset plenum. “But — I promise I’ll do my best in order to realize the third step, after [the] honorary consulate and after [the] Czech House and you can guess what is to be the third step.”As president, Zeman has limited executive power. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has previously voiced opposition to a full-fledged relocation of the embassy in Israel, citing the policy of the European Union, which is staunchly opposed to the move.Projev prezidenta republiky MiloÅ¡e Zemana v izraelském parlamentu Kneset, OVTV, Jeruzalém, pondÄ›lí 26. listopadu 2018-Posted by MiloÅ¡ Zeman – prezident ÄŒeské republiky on Monday, 26 November 2018-The Prime Minister’s Office said on Tuesday that the Czech House will “include Czech government representatives as a first stage ahead of moving the embassy to the capital.”On Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said that the Czech ambassador “will work part of the time from Jerusalem,” just like US Ambassador David Friedman.“We’ve been given assurances” to that effect, she told Army Radio. “It’s the first time the European flag will fly in Jerusalem.”The Czech ambassador, Martin Stropnický, confirmed to The Times of Israel that he would be holding some meetings at the Czech House, but reiterated that it would not have diplomatic status.“I’m in Jerusalem anyway twice a week,” he said, “so instead of meeting in a cafe I can invite officials to come there.”

Something has to be done."It wasn't immediately clear what he meant by a worldwide network. Israeli police give traffic tickets to Palestinians, but no one’s collecting-While authorities boast of crackdown on road rage beyond in the West Bank, police and Defense Ministry trade blame over who’s responsible for collecting the penalties-By Jacob Magid-TOI-NOV 28,18

The majority of tickets given by Israeli police to Palestinians for traffic violations in the West Bank go unenforced because no state body has taken responsibility for collecting the fines. As part of its campaign to limit road accidents beyond the Green Line, police release a weekly press statement that tallies the amount of tickets handed out for various traffic crimes.According to the Public Security Ministry, under whose auspices the police falls, 45,000 fines worth tens of millions of shekels were administered to Palestinians in the West Bank in 2017. In that same year, 5,600 orders were handed out to Palestinian drivers requiring them to appear in court. However, the Haaretz daily reported Tuesday that while tickets worth at least NIS 22 million ($5.98 million) were handed out last year, only about NIS 9 million ($2.41 million) of those fines have been paid. Consequently, the thousands of fines levied each year have not had a major impact on road rage.Earlier this year, Meretz party lawmaker Mossi Raz sent an official correspondence to Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan asking for clarification as to which body is responsible for collecting traffic violation fines. The minister responded in March that while police officers are the ones who enforce traffic laws in Area C — the 60 percent of the West Bank where Israel has full control over civil and military affairs — the Defense Ministry body known as the Civil Administration is responsible for collecting the fines.Raz subsequently reached out to a Civil Administration official with the same query. In her February response to the lawmaker, Ruth Bar said that “the issue is not under the jurisdiction of the Civil Administration.”“The matter should be taken up with the Israel Police, who are the body responsible for handing out and collecting fines in Israel, including in Judea and Samaria (West Bank),” the defense official wrote, kicking responsibility back to the body that asserts that collecting fines is not a matter of its concern.A defense official told The Times of Israel that Palestinians who chose to pay their fines address them to the Civil Administration, but that “the majority get away with not handing over the compensation because Israeli authorities that typically collect such penalties do not have authority to enter Palestinian towns,” the vast majority of which are located in areas A and B of the West Bank, where Israel does not maintain civil control. Moreover, the official said that the Civil Administration has had a difficult time accessing Palestinian bank accounts, making it difficult even for those interested in paying to do so.Raz called the situation in the West Bank “idiotic.”“Palestinians are under occupation and are being tried under military law. They are subject to fines that the military regime does not know how to collect,” he said. “We again discover Israel’s inability to control what is happening in the occupied territories.”

U.S. officials say tainted romaine lettuce appears to be from California-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-November 28, 2018

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Monday that the source of an E.coli outbreak in the United States and Canada that has been associated with romaine lettuce appeared to be growers in the Central Coast region of California. At least 43 people in 12 states and 22 people in Canada have been sickened in the outbreak. Last week the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a blanket warning to avoid all romaine and advised consumers, restaurants and markets to destroy any on hand. The FDA said on Monday that all romaine lettuce entering the market should now be labeled with a harvest location and date and that consumers should not buy or eat it if that information is missing. The agency said that going forward romaine lettuce grown in the Central Coast region of California should be discarded, while product from elsewhere was no longer subject to a warning.(Reporting by Dan Whitcomb)

Cases of rare, polio-like condition in U.S. highest since 2016-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-By Alex Dobuzinskis-November 28, 2018

(Reuters) - A rare, polio-like condition has sickened 116 people in the United States so far this year, the highest number of cases since 2016, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday.CDC officials have said they do not know what causes acute flaccid myelitis or AFM, which affects the nervous system and triggers weakness and even paralysis in one or more limbs. The vast majority of patients are children. In 2014, when 120 patients were diagnosed, the CDC began investigating cases of the disease, which it estimates affects one out of 1 million people in the United States.Since 2014, the number of cases has spiked every two years in the United States. Last year, the nation had 33 confirmed cases, while in 2016 it had 149."It is pretty concerning that it's going up and we still haven't figured out specifically how to prevent this or how to treat it," Dr. Emmanuelle Tiongson, pediatric neurologist at Children's Hospital Los Angeles who has evaluated and treated patients with the condition, said in a phone interview. One phenomenon researchers have observed is the illness is particularly prevalent between August and October, a period when many viruses commonly circulate, according to the CDC.The disease could be spread through infection, which would explain why there have been clusters of cases in certain states, Tiongson said. The CDC on Monday provided a state-by-state breakdown of cases for the first time this year.Colorado reported 15 confirmed cases of the disease and Texas had 14, followed by Pennsylvania, Ohio, Washington state and Minnesota, which each had eight cases, according to the CDC.States with large populations or good methods for reporting the disease are more likely to have a larger number of cases, according to the CDC.In some patients, the partial paralysis they suffer due to the illness will be a lifelong condition, Tiongson said.(Reporting by Alex Dobuzinskis in Los Angeles; Editing by Lisa Shumaker)

"I don't know how long it was but it felt like forever and they came in," she recalled-She says staff moved the inmates out of the area and the woman who overdosed was taken to the hospital. She says the inmates were interviewed about what happened. However, she said, she did not receive support to deal with witnessing the overdose."Sitting in here, there's no programming, there's nothing. There's nothing to work on yourself, absolutely nothing."The inmate says the drugs involved were heroin, carfentanil and crystal meth.ODs highlight health issue: frontline worker-"It really highlights the issue of how prisons are not the best places for individuals who have addictions issues," said Jonna Reaume, a reintegration worker at the Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan.Reaume works with women in the community who have been released from Pine Grove Correctional Centre and visits the jail regularly. She says many women coming into custody already struggle with addictions, problems the jails aren't equipped to handle:  "They're not built or staffed to accommodate individuals who are overdosing or withdrawing from drugs or alcohol."She says these situations highlight a healthcare issue — not a criminal one. Reaume says inmates have limited access to treatment and counselling, adding there are no programs for those on remand awaiting a trial. She says more provincial funding and resources need to be put toward addictions and mental health.Justice minister cites obligation to ensure safety-"It's troublesome that we're having that taking place in our correctional facilities," Justice Minister Don Morgan said Monday. He said the government has "ramped up medical assistance" by making Naloxone available at facilities throughout the province and increasing inspections for people coming in.However, added, people are "inventive" about where they conceal drugs, which makes it challenging for correctional staff.Morgan says it's important to remember people who are in custody have had their liberty taken away, "so we have an obligation to ensure that those people are kept safe and receive the attention they need."Union says staff need support-"The corrections officers are the front-line people, they're the first responders on these scenes," said Bob Bymoen, president of the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union, which represents staff at provincial correctional centres."Nobody wants to go to work wondering if their going to have to save somebody's life from overdosing, but that's their reality," Bymoen said, adding  these incidents might contribute to post traumatic stress disorder experienced by correctional officers. He says the number and nature of overdoses is concerning for both the inmates and the staff.Bymoen says staff are looking for more training on how to administer medication used to treat opioid overdoses, and also how to identify the drug and symptoms.

(Reuters) - The deadly northern California wildfire that destroyed the mountain town of Paradise and killed at least 85 people was 100 percent contained on Sunday, according to state fire officials. The so-called Camp Fire that started on Nov. 8 burned nearly 154,000 acres (62,000 hectares), left more than 200 people missing and destroyed nearly 14,000 homes, in and around Paradise, California, about 175 miles (280 km) northeast of San Francisco, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.(Reporting by Gina Cherelus in New York; Editing by Lisa Shumaker)

NASA's InSight lands on Mars to peer into planet's deep interior-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-By Steve Gorman-November 28, 2018

PASADENA, Calif. (Reuters) - NASA's InSight spacecraft, the first robotic lander designed to study the deep interior of a distant world, touched down safely on the surface of Mars on Monday with instruments to detect planetary seismic rumblings never measured anywhere but Earth.Engineers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) near Los Angeles burst into cheers, applause and hugs as they received signals confirming InSight's arrival on Martian soil - a vast, barren plain near the planet's equator - shortly before 3 p.m. EST.Minutes later, JPL controllers received a fuzzy "selfie" photograph of the probe's new surroundings on the Red Planet, showing the edge of one lander leg beside a rock.Watch parties for NASA's live television coverage of the event were held at museums, libraries and other public venues around the world, including Times Square, where a small crowd of 40 or 50 people braved pouring rain to witness the broadcast on a giant TV screen affixed to a wall of the Nasdaq building.InSight's descent and landing, consisting of about 1,000 individual steps that had to be flawlessly executed to achieve success, capped a six-month journey of 301 million miles (548 million km) from Earth. The spacecraft was launched from California in May on its nearly $1 billion mission. It will spend the next 24 months - about one Martian year - collecting a wealth of data to unlock mysteries about how Mars formed and, by extension, the origins of the Earth and other rocky planets of the inner solar system."The reason why we’re digging into Mars is to better understand not just Mars, but the Earth itself," said JPL's Bruce Banerdt, InSight's principal investigator.A central question is why Mars, once a relatively warm, wet planet, evolved so differently from Earth into a mostly dry, desolate and cold world, devoid of life. The answers are believed to have something to do with the as-yet unexplained absence, since Mars' ancient past, of either a magnetic field or tectonic activity, said NASA's chief scientist James Green. While Earth's tectonics and other forces have erased most evidence of its early history, much of Mars - about one-third the size of Earth - has seemingly remained largely static, creating a geologic time machine for scientists, Green said.InSight and the next Mars rover mission, scheduled for 2020, are both seen as precursors for eventual human exploration of Mars, an objective that NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said on Monday might be achieved as early as the mid-2030s.DAREDEVIL LANDING-InSight was the eighth spacecraft to have landed successfully on Mars, all of them operated by NASA.The three-legged lander streaked into the thin Martian atmosphere at 12,300 miles (19,795 km) per hour and plunged 77 miles to the surface within seven minutes, slowed to a gentle touchdown by atmospheric friction, a giant parachute and retro rockets. The stationary probe was programmed to pause for 16 minutes for the dust to settle, literally, around its landing site, before two disc-shaped solar panels were to be unfurled like wings to provide power to the spacecraft. But scientists did not expect to verify successful deployment of the solar arrays for at least several hours. The 880-pound (360 kg) InSight - its name is short for Interior Exploration Using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport - marks the 21st U.S.-launched Mars mission, dating back to the Mariner fly-bys of the 1960s.Nearly two dozen other Mars missions have been sent from other nations.InSight's new home in the middle of Elysium Planitia, a wide, relatively smooth expanse close to the planet's equator, is roughly 373 miles (600 km) from the 2012 landing spot of the car-sized Mars rover Curiosity, the last spacecraft sent to the Red Planet by NASA.PEERING BENEATH SURFACE-InSight's primary instrument is a French-built seismometer, designed to record the slightest vibrations from "marsquakes" and meteor impacts around the planet. The device, to be placed on the surface by the lander's robot arm, is so sensitive it can measure a seismic wave just one half the radius of a hydrogen atom.Scientists expect to see a dozen to 100 marsquakes during the mission, producing data to help them deduce the depth, density and composition of the planet's core, the rocky mantle surrounding it, and the outermost layer, the crust. The NASA Viking probes of the mid-1970s were equipped with seismometers, too, but they were bolted to the top of the landers, a design that proved largely ineffective.Apollo missions to the moon brought seismometers to the lunar surface as well. But InSight is expected to yield the first meaningful data on planetary seismic tremors beyond Earth.A second instrument, furnished by Germany's space agency, consists of a drill to burrow as much as 16 feet (5 meters) underground, pulling behind it a rope-like thermal probe to measure heat flowing from inside the planet.Meanwhile, a radio transmitter will send back signals tracking Mars' subtle rotational wobble to reveal the size of the planet's core and possibly whether it remains molten.NASA officials say it will take two to three months for the main instruments to be deployed and put into operation. The landing data and initial photograph were relayed to Earth from two briefcase-sized satellites that were launched along with InSight and were flying past Mars as it reached its destination. The twin "Cubesats" tagging along for the flight to Mars represented the first deep-space use of a miniature satellite technology that space engineers see as a promising low-cost alternative to some larger, more complex vehicles.(Reporting and writing by Steve Gorman in Pasadena; Additional reporting by Pavithra George in Pasadena; Editing by Michael Perry and Tom Brown)

HRW asks Argentina to probe Saudi Crown Prince over Yemen, Khashoggi-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-By Cassandra Garrison and Jorge Otaola-November 28, 2018

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Human Rights Watch has asked Argentina to use a war crimes clause in its constitution to investigate the role of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in possible crimes against humanity in Yemen and the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.Argentina's constitution recognizes universal jurisdiction for war crimes and torture, meaning judicial authorities can investigate and prosecute those crimes no matter where they were committed.Human Rights Watch said its submission was sent to federal judge Ariel Lijo. Neither Lijo's office nor the office of Argentina's public prosecutor responded to requests for comment.HRW's Middle East and North Africa director Sarah Leah Whitson said the international rights group took the case to Argentina because Prince Mohammed, also known as MbS, will attend the opening of the G20 summit this week in Buenos Aires."We submitted this info to Argentine prosecutors with the hopes they will investigate MbS's complicity and responsibility for possible war crimes in Yemen, as well as the torture of civilians, including Jamal Khashoggi," Whitson told Reuters.Argentine media cited judicial sources as saying it was extremely unlikely that the authorities would take up the case against the crown prince, Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler. The killing of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and a critic of the crown prince, at Riyadh's consulate in Istanbul six weeks ago has strained Saudi Arabia's ties with the West and battered Prince Mohammed's image abroad.Western nations are also calling for an end to the Saudi-led military campaign in neighboring Yemen, which was launched by Prince Mohammed, as a humanitarian crisis there worsens.Cases taking advantage of universal jurisdiction have had success in the past, most notably in 1998 when Spanish Judge Baltasar Garzon was able to order the arrest in London of former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.(Editing by Daniel Flynn and Sonya Hepinstall)

THERE WERE CHILDREN GASSED BECAUSE THE MIGRANTS TOOK A PLAY FROM THE ARAB MUSLIM PLAYBOOK BY USING THE KIDS AS HUMAN SHIELDS.

There were children,' says migrant mother tear-gassed at U.S. border-[Reuters]-YAHOONEWS-By Lucy Nicholson and Hannah McKay-November 28, 2018

TIJUANA, Mexico (Reuters) - A migrant mother photographed running with her daughters from tear gas at the U.S.-Mexico border said she never expected the U.S. Border Patrol to fire gas canisters at children and families. After traveling north from Honduras and spending a week in the Mexican border town of Tijuana, Maria Meza, 35, set out on Sunday with her five children to claim asylum at the U.S. border crossing. She and hundreds of other Central American migrants were blocked by Mexican police and staged a protest in front of the border, some rushing the U.S fence.Three tear gas canisters shot from the U.S. side landed around Meza and her children, who range in age from toddlers to teenagers, she said in an interview at a Tijuana migrant shelter."The first thing I did was grab my children," said Meza. A photo of her clutching the hands of twin five-year-old daughters Saira and Cheili, as her 13-year-old daughter Jamie runs alongside, has gone viral and sparked angry reactions from some lawmakers and charities."I was scared, and I thought I was going to die with them because of the gas," said Meza. Her young son James nearly fainted when a canister landed near him. Meza fell and struggled to get up amidst the gas. A young man gave her his hand and pulled her to her feet."We never thought they were going to fire these bombs where there were children, because there were lots of children," said Meza, sitting in view of the rusted-steel U.S. border fence."It wasn't right, they know we are human beings, the same as them," said Meza. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were struck by projectiles thrown by the migrants.Around 5,200 people who traveled in a caravan across Mexico are packed into the shelter in a stadium in Tijuana, living in makeshift tents.President Donald Trump has taken a hardline stance against the migrants, who have made their way north from violent and impoverished Central American countries. On Monday, he said Mexico should send them back to their home countries. The U.S. Border Patrol said most of those assembled at the border were economic migrants who would not qualify for asylum."I came here for one reason, and that's because there is a lot of violence in Honduras," said Meza, as her children played with empty tear gas canisters shot by the Border Patrol. The United States shut the crossing for several hours on Sunday and Trump has threatened to close the border entirely."If they close the border I ask God that here in Tijuana, or in another country they open doors to us, to allow me to survive with my children," said Meza.(Reporting by Lucy Nicholson and Hannah McKay; Writing by Andrew Hay; Editing by Rosalba O'Brien)

Border clash leaves caravan migrants dejected, worried-[The Canadian Press]-YAHOONEWS-November 28, 2018

TIJUANA, Mexico — A chaotic border clash with choking tear gas fired by U.S. agents left Central American migrants sullen and dejected, with some opting Monday to leave and others worrying the incident may have spoiled their chances at asylum.Mexican security forces stepped up their presence at a Tijuana sports complex where thousands from the migrant caravan have been sheltered, apparently seeking to avoid a repeat of Sunday's ugly scene. Police blocked the migrants from walking toward the border in the morning, though later on they allowed them to move about freely.Isauro Mejia, 46, from Cortes, Honduras, went looking for a cup of coffee to shake the morning chill following another night sleeping outside after being caught up in the clashes. Before, he had hoped to be able to press an asylum claim, but now he wasn't so sure."The way things went yesterday ... I think there is no chance," Mejia said. "With the difficulty that has presented itself because of yesterday's incidents ... that's further away."Migrants hoping to apply for asylum in the United States must put their names on a waiting list that already had some 3,000 people on it before the caravan arrived in Tijuana. With U.S. officials processing fewer than 100 claims a day, the wait time for the recent arrivals stands to take months. That has instilled a sense of desperation among many after their grueling trek from Central America. Sunday's incident began after hundreds marched to the border to try to call attention to their plight. Some attempted to get through fencing and wire separating the countries, prompting volleys of stinging gas.Cindy Martinez of San Vicente, El Salvador, said she had been about to cross the concertina wire to the U.S. side when the tear gas was launched. She estimated about 20 people had already passed in front of her, and parents begged agents not to unleash the gas because there were young children present."I see it as impossible for them to want to give us asylum," she said. "Because of the words that President Donald Trump has said, I think this is impossible."Martinez, 28, said she was now considering getting work in Tijuana.Mexico's National Migration Institute reported that 98 migrants were being deported after trying to breach the U.S. border. The country's Interior Department said about 500 people attempted to rush the border, while U.S. authorities put the number at 1,000.U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan said 69 migrants who tried to cross illegally were arrested on the California side. He said the Border Patrol's use-of-force policy allows agents to use tear gas and other non-lethal methods, but the incident would be reviewed."As the events unfolded, quick, decisive and effective action prevented an extremely dangerous situation," McAleenan said.Mexico's Foreign Relations Department said it had presented a diplomatic note to the U.S. Embassy asking for an "exhaustive investigation" of the use of nonlethal force.Migrant Yanira Elizabeth Rodriguez Martinez said she, her daughter and her sister had stayed away from Sunday's demonstration because they feared it could turn dangerous. Sitting in their makeshift camp at a sports complex Monday, the 38-year-old asked what the process would be if she decided to return to El Salvador."Because of (the actions of a few), we all pay," said Romario Aldair Veron Arevalo, a 20-year-old friend sitting with her. He said he still hoped to cross to the United States and work, but conceded it could be more difficult now.In a rare criticism, Mexico's National Human Rights Commission admonished migrants that they "should respect Mexican laws and not engage in actions that affect the communities they pass through.""It is important to note that the fact the Mexican government protects their rights does not imply a free pass to break the law," it said.Commission official Edgar Corzo Sosa said after visiting the shelter Monday that the space intended for 3,500 is now crowded with more than 5,000 people. He said officials were receiving more requests from migrants wanting to return to their countries, but did not have a number. He said a beefed-up police presence was for the migrants' safety."There is nothing to prevent them from leaving" the shelter Corzo said. "They are free to come and go."The clash also led U.S. authorities to shut down the nation's busiest border crossing at San Ysidro, California, for several hours Sunday."Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries," Trump tweeted Monday. "Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!"Trump has repeatedly suggested without evidence that the migrant caravans are full of hardened criminals, but they appear to be mostly poor people with few belongings fleeing poverty and gang violence.U.S. and Mexican officials have been wrangling over migration and how to deal with asylum-seekers at the border as Tijuana, a border city of 1.6 million residents, struggles to accommodate the crush of migrants.Mexican President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who takes office Saturday, declined Monday to comment on the border incident.Asked about Trump's warning that the U.S. could close the border "permanently" — which would disrupt billions of dollars in trade — Marcelo Ebrard, who is to be Lopez Obrador's foreign relations secretary, said, "Let's hope we can keep that from happening."On Monday, Trump said Vice-President Mike Pence and daughter Ivanka Trump plan to attend Mexico's presidential inauguration. The White House has said Trump has developed a "strong relationship" with Lopez Obrador and looks forward to working with him.Tijuana public safety secretary Marco Antonio Sotomayor Amezcua said in a news conference that Mexican police would be prudent in their use of force, but "we have to guard at all cost that the border posts are not closed again."Sotomayor said he hopes migrants who had thought of entering the U.S. illegally learned from Sunday's events that that won't be possible. He added that the mayor is working to secure another space for the migrants with the sports complex overflowing.Baja California state Gov. Francisco Vega said almost 9,000 migrants were in his state — mostly in Tijuana, with a smaller number in Mexicali — and called it "an issue of national security." Vega issued a public appeal to Mexico's federal government to take over responsibility for sheltering the migrants and deport any who break the law.Alex Castillo carried a red bedroll slung over his shoulder as he walked away from the Tijuana shelter Monday, saying he would head to the industrial city of Monterrey to look for work and try to cross into the United States next year. The 35-year-old electrician from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, said he wasn't at the border clash. He heard about it from others and decided to leave "to avoiding getting beaten.""If they're launching tear gas," Castillo said, "it's better to head somewhere else."___Associated Press writers Mark Stevenson in Mexico City and Colleen Long in Washington contributed to this report.Christopher Sherman, The Associated Press.

Nearly two-thirds of Quebecers support public-sector ban on religious symbols, poll finds-[CBC]-YAHOONEWS-November 28, 2018

Most Quebecers are in favour of banning public-sector workers from wearing religious symbols, according to a CROP poll released ahead of the first legislative session under a Coalition Avenir Québec government. But a separate survey by Vox Pop Labs, conducted following the Oct. 1 election, suggests Quebecers may be more divided when it comes to the details of how such proposals should be implemented.Premier François Legault indicated after last month's election that he will seek to bar civil servants in positions of authority from wearing religious symbols such as the kippa and hijab. Not only would this apply to police officers, judges and Crown prosecutors, but also to school teachers, Legault said.He justified his decision by saying it was the "position of a majority of Quebecers."The CROP poll, taken between Nov. 14 and 19, estimated that 72 per cent of Quebecers supported banning visible religious symbols for judges, 71 per cent supported banning them for prosecutors and police officers and 65 per cent backed extending the ban to public-school teachers.CROP also found widespread support (55 per cent) for leaving the crucifix in the National Assembly, another of Legault's promises. Twenty-eight per cent wanted to see it removed.More divided on specifics-Alain Giguère, CROP's president, said the results indicated unprecedentedly high levels of support for banning religious symbols."I think we can conclude that the average Quebecer really wants to remove religion from the public sphere, especially for people who hold positions of authority," Giguère said."The numbers are high but they are the product of a public discussion that has lasted since Bouchard-Taylor," he said, referring to the public commission into reasonable accommodation that wrapped up in 2008.One of the commission's key recommendations was that civil servants in positions of authority shouldn't be allowed to wear visible religious symbols. That, however, did not include teachers.CROP's findings are based on an internet panel of 1,000 people. They were asked which government professions should be subject to a ban on religious symbols. The questionnaire did not specify which symbols would be at issue. When data science firm Vox Pop Labs recently asked Quebecers more detailed questions by about the specific religious symbols they object to, and in which professions, the answers varied widely.More divided on specifics-Vox Pop, which operates Vote Compass for CBC and Radio-Canada, surveyed 4,000 people about identity issues in the month after the election.Respondents were shown images of various types of religious clothing and symbols and asked to choose different situations where they should be banned. The results suggested high levels of support — 87 per cent — for preventing police officers and judges from wearing the burka, a full body covering with only a mesh screen for the eyes. But that number dropped to around 65 per cent for the turban and kippa. The Vox Pop findings also suggested Quebecers are, in fact, divided about what religious symbols teachers should be allowed to wear in the classroom. The kippa was opposed by 49 per cent, the turban by 51 per cent, the hijab by 52 per cent and a large cross by 53 per cent.Vox Pop summarized its findings by noting a majority of survey participants — 55 per cent — backed the so-called Bouchard-Taylor consensus. The research firm, though, also concluded that there is little support — only 41 per cent — for extending those limits to teachers, which the CAQ is proposing to do.Moreover, the Vox Pop findings found higher levels of support for removing the crucifix from the National Assembly than CROP.They recorded 50 per cent of respondents saying they opposed its presence in the legislature, compared to 45 per cent who were OK with it there.A Mainstreet poll published two weeks ago, meanwhile, found 42 per cent support for removing the crucifix, compared to the 50 per cent who preferred that it remain. The National Assembly will begin a two-week session on Tuesday that will be the first opportunity for the CAQ to advance its legislative agenda since it was elected in October with a decisive majority.Legault said recently his government will likely wait until next year to table legislation on religious symbols.

21  And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22  And the children (2 NATIONS IN HER-ISRAEL-ARABS) struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.
23  And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels;(ISRAEL AND THE ARABS) and the one people shall be stronger than the other people;(ISRAEL STRONGER THAN ARABS) and the elder shall serve the younger.(LITERALLY ISRAEL THE YOUNGER RULES (ISSAC)(JACOB-LATER NAME CHANGED TO ISRAEL) OVER THE OLDER ARABS (ISHMAEL)(ESAU)

ZECHARIAH 12:1-5 King James Bible
1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.

ISAIAH 28:14-19 (THIS IS THE 7 YR TREATY COVENANT OF DANIEL 9:27)
14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

UN envoy: Trump peace plan ‘completed,’ to be unveiled in early 2019-Danny Danon doesn’t know if US proposal based on two-state solution, says timing ideal as it will likely be before Israeli elections-By AFP-TOI-NOV 28,18

UNITED NATIONS — US President Donald Trump’s administration has told Israel that it will present its long-awaited Israeli-Palestinian peace plan early next year, Israel’s envoy to the United Nations said Tuesday.Ambassador Danny Danon told journalists that the peace plan was “completed” and that the administration had discussed timing with Israel to unveil the proposals.“As far as we know, they speak with us about beginning of ’19, which is coming soon,” Danon said. “We don’t know the details of the plan but we know that it’s completed.”The ambassador said early next year was considered the best timing because it will be several months before expected elections in Israel.A rollout of the peace plan in early 2019 will allow Trump to “present it without interfering in our political debate in Israel,” he said.Israel will come to the negotiating table to discuss the plan, Danon said, but the Palestinians will try to block it even as the United States tries to bring other key countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan on board. The Palestinians have severed ties with the Trump administration after his December decision to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and declare the city Israel’s capital. The US administration has cut more than $500 million in Palestinian aid since the start of the Palestinian boycott. The Palestinians claim East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state. International consensus has been that Jerusalem’s status must be negotiated between the two sides.Trump said in September that he planned to unveil the peace plan by the end of the year, and has suggested that the proposals could provide for the creation of a Palestinian state.Danon said he did not know if the two-state solution was included in the US plan.Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and lawyer Jason Greenblatt, who have led efforts to draft the plan, traveled to the region several times for talks on the proposals.Greenblatt said in an October interview with The Times of Israel that the plan would “be heavily focused on Israeli security needs” while remaining “fair to the Palestinians.”
