NATO concerned over Russian nuclear submarine armed with apocalypse torpedoes – media-Роман Ваніян

The intelligence service of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) "lost" the Russian nuclear submarine K-329 Bilhorod, which left the deployment port the day before. NATO fears that the boat went out to sea to test torpedoes capable of causing a "radioactive tsunami."The Italian publication La Repubblica writes about this with reference to its own sources.According to the publication, the NATO leadership sent a warning to its allies that the submarine Bilhorod probably left the port of deployment and headed to the Arctic for tests.NATO intelligence believes that a Russian boat can conduct tests of Poseidon nuclear warhead torpedoes there, which are also called "torpedoes of the apocalypse."This torpedo is designed so that the U.S. infrared satellite surveillance system cannot detect it. At the same time, the torpedo can move at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour for a distance of 10,000 kilometers."This is a completely new category of weapons that will force a change in the principles of planning operations of Western navies, which will lead to new requirements and new means of countermeasures," the publication quotes the words of an American military expert. It is noted that the explosion of such a torpedo near the coast is capable of causing a "nuclear tsunami" that will destroy objects both on the shore and at a great distance inland. As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 21, during his address to the Russians, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again threatened the world with the use of nuclear weapons. And the very next day, September 22, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmytro Medvedev announced Russia's readiness to use nuclear and hypersonic weapons. As earlier reported, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense considers the probability of the use of nuclear weapons by Russia to be very high.

Russia produces first set of Poseidon super torpedoes - TASS-By Guy Faulconbridge

MOSCOW, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Russia has produced the first set of Poseidon nuclear capable super torpedoes that are being developed for deployment on the Belgorod nuclear submarine, TASS reported on Monday, citing an unidentified defence source.Since a grim New Year's Eve message describing the West as Russia's true enemy in the war on Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin has sent several signals that Russia will not back down. He has despatched hypersonic missiles to the Atlantic and appointed his top general to run the war.U.S. and Russian officials have both described Poseidon as a new category of retaliatory weapon, capable of triggering radioactive ocean swells to render coastal cities uninhabitable."The first set of Poseidons have been manufactured, and the Belgorod submarine will receive them in the near future," TASS, a state news agency, quoted the source as saying.TASS said the main components of Poseidon, including a nuclear reactor to give the torpedo its own power source, had been successfully completed. The crew of the Belgorod nuclear submarine has also completed tests with models of the torpedo, TASS said. The defence ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Putin first announced what would become known as Poseidon in 2018, saying it was a fundamentally new type of strategic nuclear weapon, confirming it would have its own nuclear power supply. There are few confirmed details about the Poseidon in the public domain but it is essentially a cross between a torpedo and a drone which can be launched from a nuclear submarine.Russia's defence ministry has shown videos of the 24-metre Poseidon, known as Kanyon by NATO, including simulations showing it destroying an enemy aircraft carrier and hitting the shoreline.PUTIN'S TORPEDO-The Poseidon has its roots in Soviet plans under Josef Stalin for a nuclear torpedo which would be able to devastate the shores of the United States. In the 2018 speech, Putin said the range of the torpedo would be unlimited and that it could operate at extreme depths at a speed many times that of any submarine or other torpedoes."They are very low noise, have high maneuverability and are practically indestructible for the enemy. There is no weapon that can counter them in the world today," Putin said. The Poseidon will be carried by the K-329 Belgorod, a special purpose nuclear submarine that was built by the Sevmash Shipyard. The United States said in its Nuclear Posture Review in 2022 that Russia and China "continue to expand and diversify their nuclear capabilities, to include novel and destabilizing systems.""Russia is pursuing several novel nuclear-capable systems designed to hold the U.S. homeland or Allies and partners at risk," according to the Posture Review.Last year, the U.S. Naval Institute said Russia's development of Poseidon turned assumptions about submarine-launched nuclear weapons upside down."Perhaps most frightening, this nuclear weapon has the potential for autonomous operation," the institute said."A fully operational Kanyon would have an incredible strategic impact," it said in an article. "As a new delivery platform, it is not covered by current nuclear arms treaties."(This story has been corrected to show nuclear-capable Poseidons have been produced and not the nuclear warheads, it also corrects translation of the quote)

Russia-Published December 29, 2022 10:30am EST-Putin launches latest nuclear submarine 'Emperor Alexander III' as part of new fleet-Russia looks to develop half a dozen nuclear submarines to naval fleet-By Caitlin McFall | Fox News

Nearly 18K civilian casualties since Russia-Ukraine war began: UN-Fox News correspondent Nate Foy has more as Russia targets civilians and rejects 10-point peace plan on 'Special Report.' Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday commissioned his latest nuclear submarine dubbed "Emperor Alexander III" as part of Moscow’s move to create a fleet of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines. The submarine was launched in the city of Severodvinsk on the White Sea after being developed by the Russian ship building company Sevmash – a subsidiary of the United Shipbuilding Corporation which oversees the construction and maintenance of Russia’s navy.Putin championed the fleet as being beyond compare to any other naval fleet in the world. While the "Emperor Alexander III" – capable of carrying 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles – will undergo testing next June according to state media RIA, three other vessels were donned with the Russian flag Thursday and will begin military service. "The new submarines and surface ships have modern navigation, communications and hydroacoustics systems, high-precision weapons and robotic systems," he said. Another nuclear submarine cruiser titled "Generalissimo Suvorov," a small missile ship called "Grad" and the sea minesweeper, "Anatoly Shlemov" were all officially handed over to the Navy in a ceremony."I would like to congratulate all Russian sailors and shipbuilders on this significant milestone event for the fleet," Putin said, adding the additional vessels "significantly increase the capabilities of our nuclear naval forces."Russian Navy's TK-208 Dmitry Donskoy nuclear submarine is prepared for the Navy Day parade in Kronshtadt of the suburb of St. Petersburg. The "Generalissimo Suvorov" will also be armed with Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles. The two most recent nuclear-powered – and potentially nuclear-armed – submarines means that Russia’s navy will soon have seven of the top vessels with more planned for future development. "Four more such submarines will be built as part of the current state armament program, which will ensure Russia's security for decades to come," Putin said during the ceremony Thursday. The "Grad" is small rocket ship that Putin said has "high efficiency in solving combat missions in Syria," while the "Anatoly Shlemov" is a mine-sweeping vessel "considered one of the most successful Russian developments in surface shipbuilding," according to the Kremlin chief.Ten more mine-sweeping ships are planned for development. Putin pledged to continue developing Russia’s naval capabilities as the war in Ukraine rages and said, "we will increase the pace and volume of construction of ships."He said that "taking into account the experience gained, including during a special military operation," Moscow will equip its navy "with the most modern weapons, [and] conduct operational and combat training of sailors.""We will do everything necessary to reliably ensure security [for] Russia, the protection of our national interests in the oceans," he added.
