26 And after threescore and two weeks(62X7=434 YEARS+7X7=49 YEARS=TOTAL OF 69 WEEKS OR 483 YRS) shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;(ROMAN LEADERS DESTROYED THE 2ND TEMPLE) and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.(THERE HAS TO BE 70 WEEKS OR 490 YRS TO FUFILL THE VISION AND PROPHECY OF DAN 9:24).(THE NEXT VERSE IS THAT 7 YR WEEK OR (70TH FINAL WEEK).
27 And he( THE ROMAN,EU PRESIDENT) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:(1X7=7 YEARS) and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,(3 1/2 yrs in TEMPLE SACRIFICES STOPPED) and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

UN chief says Palestinian statehood long overdue

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Palestinian statehood was long overdue, a day after its leadership launched a campaign to become the world body's 194th member state.The two state vision where Israel and Palestinians can live... side by side in peace and security -- that is a still a valid vision and I fully support it, he told reporters in Canberra.And I support also the statehood of Palestinians; an independent, sovereign state of Palestine. It has been long overdue.
But... the recognition of a state is something to be determined by the member states,he added.It is not by the Secretary General so I leave it to the member states to decide to recognise or not to recognise.Ban, who has been in Australia as part of a sweeping Pacific tour which has taken him to New Zealand, the Solomon Islands and Kirabati, called for meaningful negotiations to resolve the issue.The United Nations leader's comments came after Palestinians Thursday launched their campaign to join the UN.Their National Campaign for Palestine: State 194 is part of the build-up to September 20, when president Mahmud Abbas is expected to submit a formal request that the UN accept Palestine as a member.However, Washington has already confirmed it would veto any bid, a move also opposed by Israel.The official Palestinian campaign of support for the bid got under way with about 100 people marching to UN headquarters in the West Bank Thursday to hand a letter to the UN representative asking that Ban support them.If the bid is vetoed in the Security Council, the Palestinians plan to turn to the General Assembly where they are expected to easily win the votes needed to upgrade their representation from observer body to non-member state.

US will veto Palestinian statehood bid at UN

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration says it will veto any bid by the Palestinians to seek statehood recognition at the U.N. Security Council.The administration had long said it opposed such a unilateral move by the Palestinians. The U.S. has been working to prevent a Palestinian resolution from coming before the council.Until now, Washington had not explicitly said it would use its veto to prevent passage. On Thursday, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that if the issue comes to a vote in the Security Council, the U.S. will veto it.Israel opposes the statehood push as well.Nuland says the U.S. view is that the Palestinian effort is misguided and that statehood should come only as a result of negotiations with Israel.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — The Palestinians on Thursday officially launched their campaign to join the United Nations as a full member state, saying they would stage a series of peaceful events in the run-up to the annual gathering of the U.N. General Assembly later this month.Some 100 Palestinian officials and activists gathered at the U.N. offices in Ramallah for a short ceremony, where they announced their plans in a letter addressed to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.The letter urges Ban to add his moral voice in support of the Palestinian people.Families of the tens of thousands of victims of Israeli occupation, including those martyred, wounded and imprisoned, and countless others who were expelled from their homes or lost their homes and their property, hope that you will exert all possible efforts toward the achievement of the Palestinian people's just demands, it says.The letter was handed over by Latifa Abu Hmeid, a 70-year-old woman who lost one son in fighting with Israel and has seven other sons in Israeli prisons because of alleged militant activities.Officials said Abu Hmeid was selected to deliver the document because her personal story reflects the plight of the Palestinians. A resident of a West Bank refugee camp, her house has been twice demolished by Israeli authorities as punishment for her sons' activities, they said.

The Palestinians have decided to turn to the U.N. to recognize their independence after two decades of unsuccessful peace efforts with Israel. The latest round of talks broke down a year ago.The campaign seeks recognition of an independent Palestine in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem — areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war. Israel rejects a return to its 1967 lines.While any U.N. vote will be largely symbolic, the Palestinians believe a strong international endorsement will boost their position and put pressure on Israel should negotiations resume. Israel has been lobbying the international community to oppose the vote, saying peace can only be achieved through negotiations.The letter says the campaign will include a series of peaceful events in various international cities and capitals leading up to the Sept. 21 opening of the General Assembly. Two days later, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will address the gathering in New York and ask for admission to the United Nations.It remains unclear whether the Palestinians will turn to the Security Council or the General Assembly.The Council needs nine votes out of 15 and no veto from any of its permanent members to pass a decision. However, the United States, which opposes the Palestinian bid, is expected to veto any request in the Council.

The Palestinians could then seek admission as a nonmember state of the General Assembly, like the Vatican.Approval in the Assembly, which is dominated by developing nations sympathetic to the Palestinians, is assured. But the vote would not be legally binding. The Palestinians say they will continue their campaign until they gain full U.N. membership.Although the Palestinians say their campaign will be peaceful, Israeli military officials fear that mass demonstrations in the West Bank could turn violent.Security forces have been preparing for the possibility of violence, conducting exercises and stockpiling what they say is non-lethal riot-control equipment like tear gas, water cannons and stun grenades.Israeli West Bank settlers, meanwhile, came under suspicion Thursday in the latest of a string of attacks against Palestinians and the Israeli military in the West Bank.Two cars were torched and Hebrew-language slogans were spray-painted on a mosque in the Nablus area, and three dozen trees were uprooted from Palestinian farmland in the same area, Israeli and Palestinian officials said. The Israeli military said it was investigating.No one claimed responsibility for the acts, but settlers have carried out similar acts before, in some cases in retaliation for Israeli government actions against settlers, a practice they call price tag. Earlier this week, a West Bank mosque was set afire.Settlers are also suspected of having infiltrated an Israeli military base early Wednesday, smashing windows, slashing the tires of about a dozen vehicles and spray-painting graffiti alluding to the demolition of three homes in an unauthorized settler outpost earlier this week.Separately, the military demolished five West Bank shacks and three water cisterns it said Palestinians built without authorization in the West Bank. U.N. officials said 20 people were left homeless.
The demolitions occurred days after military officials had promised to halt the practice, saying the policy was not equally enforced in Jewish settlements. Military officials did not return messages.

Israel deploys drones over Egyptian border

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — A senior Israeli military official says the air force has deployed a special unit of unmanned surveillance aircraft along its long, porous border with Egypt after militants crossed the frontier and killed eight Israelis last month.The official says the drones are monitoring both sides of the 150-mile (250-kilometer) border, though the aircraft are flying only in Israeli airspace. In the wake of the attack, Israel also has sent more troops along the border.Officials have grown increasingly concerned about the security situation in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula following the ouster of longtime Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in February.The official spoke on condition of anonymity under military guidelines.Israel, along with the United States, is a world leader in drone technology.

Israel remains ready to free 1,000 Palestinian prisoners for Gilad Shalit, according to the captive soldier's father who demanded Thursday that any UN vote on Palestinian statehood be tied to his release.Noam Shalit indicated that many Palestinian detainees were only being held by Israel because of the dispute with Hamas over his son, now 25, who was grabbed by gunmen from Hamas and two other militant groups on June 25, 2006.Israel is ready to release 1,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange of my son. So Israel is not asking for Gilad for free, Noam Shalit told reporters at the end of a visit to the United Nations to lobby ambassadors.The prisoner exchange proposal was made by German mediators to Israel and Hamas in February, but Noam Shalit said the Palestinian side rejected this.After a deal will be carried out, hopefully very soon, Israel will be happy to free many other Palestinian prisoners that from my point of view are not relevant any more, the father added in an indication of the importance that Israel has put on the soldier's release.The captivity of Gilad prevents the release of many, many Palestinian prisoners unfortunately, he said.The father said he had spoken to the ambassadors of several countries at the UN to urge that any vote on Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly include a condition that Gilad Shilat be released.The Palestinian leadership has said it will go to the UN Security Council or General Assembly this month to see a vote giving formal membership to a Palestinian state, or super observer status.
